Comprehensive teaching and learning objectives
By the end of this period, you will have been able to:
1) Learn about and grasp the usages of new words, chunks and sentence patterns in certain language situations to comprehend the text better and develop language competence; (Language competence)
2) Use the words and expressions learned in the text to complete the passage and learn about the cultural background. (Language competence + Cultural awareness)

A sample writing:
I felt very excited, but also anxious on my first day of senior high school. It was the beginning of a new part of my life and everything seemed so new and interesting. On the other hand, I was worried that I would not be able to make friends and that the schoolwork would be too hard.
