Teaching and learning contents: Reading and thinking—Language Focus
Comprehensive teaching and learning objectives:
By the end of this period, the students will have been able to:
1) Learn about and grasp the usages of new words, chunks and sentence patterns in certain language situations to comprehend the text better and develop language competence; (Language competence)
2) Use the words and expressions learned in the text to complete the passage and learn about the cultural background. (Language competence + Cultural awareness)

Activity 1 Review
1. Review the text features, structure and content.
2. Retell the text.
Step2 Language Focus
(In this step, the teacher explains some of the main language points raised by the Students and focus on how to use some of the new words and chunks in specific language situations and analyse some sentence structures by offering some examples and getting the students to use the language items in the language situations created by the teacher or doing some exercises such as sentence making to help the students to grasp their usages as well as comprehend the text better.)
