(Learning ability + Cultural awareness + Thinking quality) Teaching and learning important points: 1) Talking about senior high school life; 2) Knowing about senior high English learning. Teaching and learning difficult points: Knowing about senior high English learning and developing the right attitudes towards English learning. Teaching and learning procedures: Step 1 Warming up (Opening Page) Activity 1 Leading-in 1. Lead in the unit by looking at the picture on Opening Page and answering the 3 questions at the bottom of the page. Encourage all the students to openly share what they feel, working in pairs or group first and then presenting their feelings to the whole class. Suggested answers: 1) The students might be at a school somewhere in China. 2) Almost all of the students look very excited and happy. 3) I feel very happy, as I think it is the beginning of an important journey of my life and I will be able to make new friends and study new things. 2. Get the students to talk about their understanding of the saying “A thousand-mile journey begins with the first step” by Laozi. And then the teacher interprets the meaning of the saying both in English and Chinese and emphasizes the importance of life goals and practical action. English: It means that even though the tasks or challenges ahead of us may look immense, it is a
