2020 年, 43 岁的蒙古族牧民娜日娜与
儿子一同参加高考, 两人双双被录取, 23
年终圆大学梦。
Naran
from
Inner
Mongolia
Autonomous
Region, will
never
forget
the
day
she
received
her
university
admission
offer.
“ Ive
been
waiting
for
this
day
for
23
years,” said
Naran, who
was
supposed
to
take
part
in
the
gaokao
in
1997.
In
spite
of
excellent
performance
in
school, Naran
had
to
give
up
the
exam
to
look
after
her
mother, who
got
hearing
impaired(受损) and
even
became
unable
to
walk
and
care
for
herself
after
a
serious
illness.
Shes
lived
the
life
of
a
herdswoman
since
she
married
and
had
two
children. The
routines
of
herding
and
taking
care
of
her
children
have
kept
her
occupied
over
the
years.
But
her
university
dream
never
faded.
Fast
forward
to
2019
and
her
elder
son,
Tulga, was
about
to
take
gaokao
the
following
year. Naran
was
determined
to
seize
this
chance
and
decided
to
sit ( 参 加 ) the
gaokao
along
with
her
son.
She
took
tutoring
classes
in
Hohhot
for
half
a
year, when
she
got
up
at
5
am
and
studied
until
about
midnight
every
day.
When
the
results
were
released, Naran
was
too
stressed
to
check
her
own
score.
Luckily, her
efforts
didnt
fail
her. On
Aug. 17, she
was
admitted
as
a
tourism
management
major
at
the
Inner
Mongolia
University
of
Finance
and
Economics.
Some
people
voiced
doubt
about
whether
Naran
would
really
attend
the
university
after
being
admitted.
She
said
the
answer
is
definitely
a
yes.
“ Sitting
the
gaokao
and
going
to
university
has
always
been
my
dream,”
Naran
said. “ If
possible,
Im
planning
to
earn
a
doctorate,” she
told
