A Teaching Design Title of the unit Unit 3 The Earth Title of the lesson Protect the Earth Class type Reading Period 1 Grade Seven A Design Principles Based on the English Curriculum Standard, the general teaching aim is to develop the students’ abilities of reading comprehension. To achieve this target, we should pay more attention to · arouse the students’ interest in the reading material, · develop good reading skills, · form the students’ leaning strategies, · strengthen the cooperating abilities As far as I can see, as a teacher, we should make full use of the teaching material instead of just teaching the text. We should find more relevant materials to help the students understand what they will learn better. Analysis on Learners The students have learned English for many years and they are used to junior high school life. They have the ability to understand a passage. And also they have learned some useful language structures and the knowledge about the environment . However, they are lack of vocabulary. Some students are not active in class because they are afraid of making mistakes. So I must try my best to help them recall what they have learnt and build their confidence in expressing their opinions in English. Analysis On the Teaching Material Teaching Content Protect the Earth Teaching Objectives Language Knowledge Master the vocabulary as well as get familiar with the topic of the Earth. Language Skills 1. Master the basic reading skills such as skimming and scanning. 2. Learn to guess the meanings of new words. 3. Listen for specific information after watching a relevant video.. 4. Practice making a poster by using what they have learnt this class. Emotion and Attitude Make the students know the importance of the Earth and protect the Earth from now on. Learning Strategies 1.
