Unit4 What can you do? Part A Let’s learn & Do a survey I .Teaching Aims 1. To listen, speak, read and write the new words and phrases: dance, do kung fu, sing English songs, play the pipa and draw cartoons. 2. Enable the students to use the phrases to express what they can do. 3. Ss can finish the task in ‘Do a survey’. 4. Educate the students to learn more things to enrich lives. It’s never too late to learn. II. Teaching Key Points 1.Learn how to read the new words and phrases. 2.Understand and use the main sentences in daily life. III. Teaching Difficult Points 1.The pronunciation of “kung fu” and “draw cartoons”. 2.Ss can use the main sentences to ask and answer freely. IV. Teaching Aids word cards, smart notebook, stars V. Teaching Process Step I Warm-up 1.Greetings. 2. T plays the guitar and sing an English song 'What can you do? Step II Presentation 1.Lead-in T :I will hold a Christmas party next week. All of you will be my VIP guests. What can you do for the party?(smart notebook) Ss: I can... T shows a program table and sets the task. 2.Teach the new word “dance”. T shows 2 kinds of dance and invites Ss to dance. 3.Teach the new phrase “sing English songs”. T shows a picture of 'I am a singer' stage and let Ss guess what they can do on the stage. T offers 2 English songs and invite one student to sing ABC song, then T plays the guitar and asks Ss to sing ‘Happy birthday to you’ together. 4.Teach the new phrase “play the pipa”. T: You can sing and dance ,can you play some instruments? Smart Notebook shows some instruments and let Ss guess. Ss listen to a sound of pipa, and T teaches the new phrase.T shows some phrases about play + the +乐器 and play +球类/棋牌类and helps Ss to sum up. 5.Teach the new phrase“ do kung fu”. Present Wu Jing’s picture and ask him, ‘Wu Jing, Wu Jing, what can you do?’ Shows a riddle and let Ss to guess who he is. Ss watch a video of Kung fu Panda. 6.Teach the last phrase “draw cartoons”. Present
