——改编自Exploring rich and colorful Minnan culture of east China
【文章】
Minnan culture is a unique cultural heritage of China, and it exhibits its characteristics through the cities of Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, and Xiamen. These cities are the birthplace of Minnan culture. In December 2019, an area that overlaps with the administrative boundaries of the three cities was declared one of the first national-level cultural ecological protection zones, further preserving this culture.
Tourists can experience the rich Minnan culture by visiting famous tourist attractions and trying local foods. For instance, in Quanzhou, there is the Kaiyuan Temple, built during the Tang Dynasty. It is the largest Buddhist temple located in Fujian Province and represents the charm of Chinese Buddhist architecture.
Zhangzhou, another historical and cultural city, boasts many tulou, earthen buildings constructed during the Song and Yuan dynasties and taking on their present shape during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Meanwhile, in Xiamen, visitors can try the highly recommended shacha noodles, which blend dried shrimp, peanuts, fish oil, scallion, ginger, and garlic to create a savory taste, complementing the chewy texture of the noodles.
As food remains just as important as other aspects of culture for exploring and understanding different regions, dishes such as shacha noodles serve as a window into the history and customs of a place. Through giving these culinary delicacies a try, tourists can deepen their understanding of the culture and people.
In summary, Minnan culture boasts distinctive features in China and can be explored best in the cities of Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, and Xiamen. Tourists can visit famous cultural landmarks and indulge themselves in local delicacies like shacha noodles. By doing so, they will gain insight into the traditions and heritage of the region and better appreciate its significance.
