Ladies and gentlemen, good morning! I am MLh, from Gaotai Senior High School. It is my great honor to be here to share my teaching design with you. Today, my topic is Unit 2: Let’s celebrate. To make my presentation more clear, I will divide it into two main parts. Firstly, I will introduce the whole unit. Secondly, I will take one of my classes as an example. Now, let’s start with the induction of unit 2.

1、The theme and highlight of unit 2
The main context of this unit includes People and society, and it tells us some festivals from home and aboard. After learning some festivals, this unit shows a book review about Tolkien and father Christmas. Ss will also learn some Chinese traditional customs and people’s different opinions towards spring festival dinner from this unit. The highlight of this unit is the Understanding ideas and developing ideas, because there are two different festivals (Christmas and the Spring Festival) and Ss could learn the deep meaning behind festivals. Their critical thinking and cultural awareness will be improved.
2、 Design principles and ideas
According to the new curriculum standard, I will combine subject, content, language skills, learning strategies, language knowledge and cultural knowledge together to get my teaching ideas. (from leaning different festivals to expressing their owns views towards festivals.
3、 The objectives of unit 2.
1.Ss will be able to read and understand these passages in this unit. (language ability)
2.Ss will be able to express their own views about celebrating some festivals. (thinking and learning ability)
3.Ss will be able to write a letter to express their own opinions to describe a festival with what they have learned from this unit. (learning ability and cultural awareness)
