Ancient Rome refers to the civilization which rose in the middle of Italian Peninsula(半岛). It has experienced three stages. At its largest, the empire spanned across three continents, a total of two million square miles. Around 20% of the global population resided inside its borders. Many people believed that world civilization started in the ancient Rome.
