系动词用法 1)be 这个系动词用得最多，后面可以跟各式各样的表语： Deathis the great leveler.死亡面前人人平等。（跟名词） Art is long，but life is short.人生有限，学海无涯。（跟形容词） His repeated absence (from school) is worrying. 他一再缺课使人担忧。（跟形容词） She is pleased to accept the invitation.她欣然接受邀请。（跟形容词） It is as well to know which way the wind blows.审时度势乃上策。（跟副词） To know everything is to know nothing.事事皆通，事事稀松。（跟动词不定式） Let X be 5．设X等于5。（跟数词） Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.情人眼里出西施。（跟介词短语） What surprised me was that they broke up.让我吃惊的是他们分手了。（跟从句） Her bag is twice the size of mine.她的包比我的大一倍。（跟倍数） 还可用于许多短语中，如be in、be off、be on、be over、be through、be sure of、betired of、be careful of、be mindful of、be keen on、be weary of等。 2) appear 作系动词表示“看上去，显得”，后面主要跟： ①形容词 His influence was considerable but now he appears merely ridiculous. 他原是有影响力的头面人物，但现在却成了人们取笑的对象。 The streets appeared deserted.街上似乎行人绝迹。 ②名词 Don＇t make him appear a fool.别把他弄得像个傻子似的。 ③从句 It appeared that nobody was willing to help.看来没人愿意帮忙。 It appears that the two leaders are holding secret talks. 两位领导人好像在举行秘密会谈。 3) become 作系动词表示“变得，变成”，后面可以跟： ①形容词 Think more，and you＇ll become wiser.思考多一些，你就会变得更聪明些。 What is true cannot become false,and what is false cannot become true. 真的假不了，假的真不了。 It takes three years to become qualified.要取得资格需要三年时间。 During college,Bill Gates became interested in software. 大学期间，比尔·盖茨对软件产生了兴趣。 ②名词 No man really becomes a fool until he stops asking questions. 只要一个人还在问问题，他就不是真正的傻子。 To some extent,strong points might become weak points. 在一定程度上，优点也会变成缺点。 4)fall 作系动词表示“变成”，后面可以跟： ①形容词（只限于少数形容词） He fell silent.他静了下来。 The horse fell lame.那马瘸了。 Has she fallen ill again？她又病了吗？ 还可用于fall vacant（落空）、fall asleep（睡着）、fall sick（病倒）等。 ②名词 She fell an easy prey to his charm.她一下子被他迷住了。 5)feel 该词有两重意思，主要意思是“感觉（如何）”，后面可跟： ①形容词 Don't make people feel bad when they make a mistake. 如果有人犯了错误，不要弄得他们垂头丧气。 That drink has made me feel quite bad.我喝了那种饮料后很不好受。 I feel rotten about not taking the children out.没带孩子出去，我觉得很内疚。 He doesn＇t feel really fulfilled in his present job.他对目前的工作并非真
