Learn some new words and expressions, such as: discussion, can’t stand, happen, expect etc. 2. Students read the conversation and role-play; 3. Students will improve listening and speaking abilities. 3、 先学 1. Students listen to the conversation and check their predictions. 2. Students listen again and answer the following questions: (1) What did Sarah do in class today? She had a discussion about TV shows. (2) Does Grace like soap operas? Why? Yes. Language point (1) We had a discussion about TV shows. discussion /dɪ'skʌʃn/ n. 讨论；商量 由动词“discuss(讨论) + -ion(名词后缀) ”构成。 e.g. We had a discussion about the movie yesterday. 昨天我们就这个电影进行了一次讨论。 discussion 常用短语有： have a discussion with sb. 和某人讨论 have a discussion about sth. 就某事展开讨论 (2) I like to follow the story and see what happens next. ① follow /'fɒləʊ/ v. 跟随；跟着 e.g. I’ll lead you to visit our school. Please follow me. 我要带领你参观我们的学校。请跟我来。 拓展：follow 作动词，还可以表示“遵循；听从(忠告、指示等)”。 ② happen /'hæpən/ v. 发生；出现 happen 作不及物动词，常常指偶然发生，其主语通常是物。用法是：（1）sth. happened / happens to sb. 某人发生了某事（常指不好的事） e.g. What happened to Mrs. Smart? 斯马特夫人发生了什么事？ (3) expect /ɪk'spekt/ v. 预料；期待 expect 的常见用法： ① expect sb. / sth. 期待某人/ 某事 ② expect to do sth. 期待做某事 ③ expect sb. to do sth. 期待/ 料到某人做某事 ④ expect + that 从句 预料…… 5、 强化记忆 1.
