People’s artist
Qi Baishi(1864-1957)
原名纯芝,字渭清,后改名璜,字萍生,号白石、寄萍老人等,湖南湘潭人。
He created the unparalleled peak of modern Chinese painting.
In 1953, he was awarded the title of “People’s Artist” by the Ministry of Culture.
In 1956, he was awarded the International Peace Prize by the World Peace Council.
In 1963, he was nominated as a World cultural celebrity on the 100th anniversary of his birth.
His best and most famous painting is shrimp.
