Know the function of SPCA and the proper ways for treating pets. Materials: computer, ppt, Oxford English book. 1. Warm up (1) (ppt 2) Review the name of different kinds of animals. (2) (ppt 3) Look at pictures of different poor dogs on the streets. Ask students feelings towards them. How are those dogs? Who can help them? 2. While-teaching (1) (ppt 4-5) Get the answer: the SPCA would help poor pets in cities. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Learn what an SPCA officer does for helping animals. (2) (ppt 6) Read the pictures and tell what should people do to those poor pets. (3) (ppt 7-9) Page 12, listen and read the article once. (4) (ppt 10-13) Then answer questions according to the materials. Choose some students to check answers and re-enforce new words. (5) (ppt 14-17) Page 10, listen to the dialogue between Mr. Hu and students. And then read aloud together. Learn new words in the dialogues. (6) (ppt 18-20) After reading, answer the questions according to the dialogues. 3. Post-teaching (1) Group discussion: what other things could people do to save homeless animals? (2) Homework: a. Recite all the new words and text. Copy new words. b. Recite the dialogue on page 10 with your partners. Warm up (1) Do dictation (new words and sentences learned in the previous lesson). (2) (ppt 2-3) Review: How much do you know about the SPCA? Listen and chose and best answers according to what you hear. (3) (ppt 4-6) Retell the information on page 10 wit
