The May 4th Movement 青年节 1 Introduction 青年节 What is “History”? Introduction History is a generic term, which ralate to past events, memories, discoveries, collections, organizations, introduction, as well as the interpretation of information about these events. What is the significance of studying “History”? History is a mirror of reality, which can give objective and true evaluation whether it is right or wrong. Learning the meaning of hitory allows us to design ideal plans for human development of society. 3 Causes,process and result 2 青年节 The New Culture Movement laid a idealistic foundation for the May 4th Movement.At that time,people emancipated their thinking in a bold way,try to seek truth from facts and keep pace with the times.At the Paris Peace Conference,the powers forced China into compliancing Unreasonable decisions,which aroused much resentment among the Chinese countrymen.What‘s more,the imperialists plundered at no allowance.Therefore,Chinese countrymen wanted to resist in order to protect our homes and defend our country. 5 Process and result The students in Beijing went to the streets to exclaimed,and declaimed against the Versailles peace treaty signed by the foreign ministry,On May 4, 1919.Then,they set fire to Cao Rulin's house.Students were arrested on June 4,1919.The Shanghai workers began a mass strike, in response to the students.Finally,The Chinese representative didn't sign Treaty of Paris.The Northern Warlord government released the students it had arrested as well,which was strongly related to the pressure of the nation-wide anti-imperialist patriotic struggle.At present,the May 4th Movement is a glorious page of China. 6 3 Historical significance 青年节 The May Fourth Movement is the beginning of China's new democratic revolution. 1 青年节 The May Fourth Movement is thoroughly anti-imperialist and anti-feudal. 2 青年节 3 It promoted the spread of Marxism and laid the foundation for the founding of the Communist Party of China. 青年节 The May Fourt
