时态专题:过去进行时 · 知识精讲 Part I 概念 表示过去某个时刻正在进行、正在发生的动作或某一时段持续存在的动作或状态。 Part II 基本用法 · 表示过去某一时刻或某一时期内正在进行的动作。 · —Where was Tom at eight last night? —He was studying in his room. · —What were they doing at this time last summer? —They were travelling in Beijing. · She was not playing with her friends on the playground. · They were preparing for the senior high school entrance examination from March to June last year. 二 表示委婉的请求或建议。 这并不表示过去时间的动作。适用于表示态度的动词:wonder, hope, think 等。 · I was wondering if you can lend me your car. · I was hoping that you’d like to lend your car to me. 三 when 与 while 引导的时间状语从句中 1. 当主句动作发生于从句动作之前,且进行时间较长,主句用过去进行时。 · I was watching TV when my mother came back home. · She was playing the piano happily when I came in. 2. 当从句的动作发生于主句的动作之前,且进行时间较长,从句用过去进行时。 · When I was talking with my English teacher, my mother came in. · While she was singing in the music room, her classmates came in and cheered for her. 3. 当主、从句的动作不存在先后关系或无所谓先后,且动作均为“长动作”,则均使用过去进行时,通常使用 while 来引导从句。 · I was doing my homework while my parents were reading books. · They were playing football while the others were playing tennis. 4. when 所引导从句的时间状语既可以指时间点,也可以指时间段,动词为短暂性动词或延续性动词均可;while 所引导从句的时间状语只能指时间段,动词只能是延续性动词。 四 过去进行时与一般过去时的区别 过去进行时表示正在发生或正在持续。 一般过去时表示动作在过去的时间里发生,且已经完成。 · Laura was reading a novel at eight last night. · Laura read a novel last night.
