代词指代题,主要是考查作者为使行文连贯或使上下文衔接更紧密而使用的衔接手段——代词的指代或名词的指代(同义复现),即要求考生根据语境推断that,it,them等代词或含代词的短语的指代信息。这类题的题干一般含有refer to(指)。
指代信息可以是一个名词、 短语、 句子或更多内容。从指代内容的位置上看,通常都在前一句中或同一句的前半部分,但也有在它前面几个句子中出现指代内容的,出现在后面的句子中则很少见。

找指代内容的方法是由代词的单复数确定指代的名词的单复数,另外还要考虑指人还是指物等。找到指代的内容后把它放在这个代词的位置上,看看这句话是否合理通顺,与前后的内容是否前后衔接,然后再判定它是否为正确答案。
