Zhu said he and some of his passengers could be stuck on the roadside in times of need. Now toilet e-maps can ease his worries, he told Xinhua. For example, the e-map can tell him if there is a toilet within 200 meters.  Gaode Map recently brought out its 2022 National Public Toilet Atlas. Cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin are among China’s top 10 for the number of public toilets that people can search. Since 2015, China has been making progress in its “toilet revolution (厕所革命)”. It has increased the number of public toilets in cities and improved the hygiene (卫生) of toilets in rural areas.  Technology now takes it a step further by giving public toilets a digital presence (数字化存在). For example, Gaode Map has worked with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and brought out an e-map of tourist toilets. Its online mapping service links (连接) 130,000 public toilets at more than 20,000 tourist sites across the country, Xinhua reported.  “Some can even show the number of seats in male and female toilets,” said Shi Wei, head of Gaode Map Products.  “Easy access to public toilets is among the measures (衡量) of a civilized (文明的) society. New technologies offer people convenience in times of need to avoid misbehavior (不文明行为),” said Zhang Baoyi, from the Tianjin Academy of Social Sciences.   1
