Musicians from the polar (极地的) area of Norway bring people an amazing music concert.Musicians perform with instruments made of natural ice. From the violin and the horn to the drum, all the instruments can produce the most beautiful sound of nature.
It is not easy to make instruments out of ice. From picking ice to making it into instruments, it takes lots of experience and sometimes luck.
“The most difficult part is to find ice in nature that has a good sound,” says Terje Isungset, the founder of the Ice Music Festival, who is a musician himself.“Sometimes I have to try hundreds of pieces until I find one that can actually sing.Dirty water cannot sing, and the ice sounds different from country to country and from year to year.It takes me 20 years to understand how I can do it well.”
Unlike other musicians who can keep practicing to adapt to their new instruments, ice music artists have almost no time to practice before they step on the stage.Sometimes the instruments begin to melt(融化)during the performance.Terje Isungset believes the melting instruments go back to nature in this way.Another big problem is that people's fingers get cold during the concert. Some of the musicians choose to wear gloves while performing.
Terje Isungset has been holding ice music concerts since 1999.Over the past 20 years, he has been travelling around the world to let more people enjoy the sound of pure nature.“We hope that through our music, people can realize the importance of protecting the nature,” Terje Isungset says.
