For long, Dr.Zhong has been working in the fields of clinical practices, teaching and scientific research of respiratory (呼吸的)diseases.Cumulatively(累积地)，Dr.Zhong has completed more than 20 national or provincial research issues, and some of his achievements lead to distinguished awards from the state.He has published more than 70 papers in core journals worldwide. In the spring of 2003, the SARS epidemic (传染病) broke out in China and across the globe.Dr.Zhong not only led but also took an active part in the battle against SARS.At that time，no one really knew much about SARS and most people had no natural defenses against the disease.Dangerous as it was, Dr.Zhong，together with his team worked hard day and night treating the patients.Through their hard work for several months, Dr.Zhong and his workmates achieved remarkable results.Soon the SARS epidemic was stopped in its tracks.Due to his extraordinary contributions during the SARS epidemic, Dr.Zhong was awarded the National May 1 Labour Medal and entitled the honour of “The Touching Chinese Awards” in 2003. Despite countless awards and prizes, he never ceased his progress in pursuing further research.
