第十八讲 目的状语从句 一、状语从句作用：指从句部分用以补充说明主句中谓语动词发生的目的，对完善句子信 息有重要作用。 二、目的状语的从句种类 1.由 that（以便）的状语从句 例：Lucy puts on her new skirt that she can receive others‘praise. Lucy为了获得他人的赞美，穿上了她的新裙子。 2.由 so that（以便）的状语从句 例：Mr Black eats four bowls of rice a day so that he can keep strong. 为了保持强壮，Mr Black 每天吃四碗饭。 I went to bed early in order that I could get up early. 三、目的状语从句与结果状语从句的区别： 1.目的状语从句：通常表述的是尚未发生的事情，是主观意念想要实现的愿望。 结果状语从句：表达的是已发生的客观现实。 例如：We are cleaning our classroom so that we will have a better study condition. 我们在打扫教室，这样我们就能有一个更好地学习环境。（目的状语从句） We cleaned our classroom so that we got a better study condition. 我们打扫了教室，因而得到了一个更好的学习环境。（结果状语从句） 2.目的状语从句常常使用can, may, will, could, might, would, should 等情态动词。 结果状语从句则用陈述语气来表达，从句中通常没有情态动词。 例如：I always read so carefully that I can make everyone understand me. 我总是小心翼翼地读书，这样大家就都能懂了。（目的状语从句） I always read so carefully that I make everyone understand me. 我总是小心翼翼地读书，结果大家全都理解了我讲的话。（结果状语从句） 3.目的状语从句与主句的关系紧密，而结果状语从句则是句子的多余补充，原本句子意思 已经完整，结果状语再进行一个内容的添加。 例如.We all prepared well，so that the party began. 我们都准备好了，结果舞会就开始了。（结果状语从句） We’ll prepare well so that the party can begin. 我们要好好准备，以便开始舞会。（目的状语从句） 4.目的状语从句放在句首对目的进行重点强调， 5.结果状语从句只能置于主句之后，作为前面动作的后续补充。 例如：So that we might see the sunrise, we started for the peak early. 为了看日出，我们一早就去山顶。（目的状语从句） We started for the peak early, that we saw the sunrise.
