So I decided to slip away—just disappear—and the best place to hide was in the changing room. Quietly and quickly, I made my way there. I heard them calling my name on the loudspeaker, “Will the last swimmer for the Red Team please come down? Will Christine please come to the starting block?” I was so embarrassed that I hid behind the shower curtain! Then the cheering started. Thank goodness that the race was away and I was safe!
