An experiment in education
The best programme on TV last night was the first episode of a new series about education, and it was set on a farm. But this farm is not for animals: it’s for children. The farm has been converted into (convert… into 使转变;把…转化成)a school for one class of difficult students. And it’s the job of one man to try and teach these students something in he two weeks when they are there.
The class is a group of 16 boys and girls, aged 13 and 14, who have all been expelled from(be expelled from…被开除;expelled是expel的过去分词) schools at least once. Their previous teachers said that they were “unteachable” and, judging by their behaviour in the programme last night, it isn’t hard to see why. The teacher who has to deal with (deal with 是处理的意思) this class is 40-
