On the other side, there were 100 solutions, some of which were related to the use of his prosthetics(假肢).Pan Junfan, 40, knew what he had signed up for. Pan's challenge was originally the Ultra Gobi, a 400-kilometer nonstop, self-navigating race. Due to the ongoing COVIEM9 pandemic, it was canceled. Yet Pan contacted the races organizers and then undertook a solo challenge on Sept 9. Beginning from the “Mars Camp” in Qinghai Province, the ultra-extreme course was expanded to 513 km over sand dunes, dry valleys, ©tony plateaus and snowy mountains, finishing in Guazhou, Gansu Province. The journey, as Pan described, is “eyes on heaven, feet in hell”. Apart from facing extreme temperatures and varied terrains, Pan, carrying the bare minimum of equipment he would need, also battled sleep deprivation, hypothermia and hallucinations during the journey. After running for 208 hours 35 minutes, Pan managed to cross the finish line in Guazhou on Sept 18. With his first 102 km clocking 26 hours and 3 minutes, he broke the record set by a Spanish amputee athlete in last year's 101 km race that went from Italy to France. "I hope that by completing the challenge I can inspire people and tell them that life has limitless possibilities and not to stop trying,” Pan told China Daily. C. 主旨大意题。纵观全文,Pan认为生命的意义在于探索未知,不断尝试,所以他通过挑战极限来阐释生命的意义。 C With intelligent systems and new-age transit networks, life in the big cities will likely be happier and more efficient. After all, more than 60 percent of the world’s population is expected to live in cities by 2050, according to a UN report. The answer to making these cities more livable for so many people lies in creating “smart” cities. These cities will use 5G networks and the “internet of things” (IoT) to make everyday life safer and more convenient. Some cities are already using smart technology to improve the lives of residents. But what exactly does a smart city do? In the United States cities of Boston and Baltimore, smart trash cans can sense how full they are and inform cleaning workers when they need to be emptied. In Amsterdam, the Netherlands, traffic flow and energy usage are monitored and adjusted according to real-time data gathered from sensors(传感器) around the city. And in Copenhagen, Denmark, a smart bike system allows riders to check on air quality and traffic condition as they ride. Smart cities will be interactive, allowing their residents to feel like they’re truly shaping their environment, instead of merely existing in it. “One of the most important reasons to have a smart city is that we can actually communicate with our environment in a way that we never have in the past,” said Mrinalini Ingram, head of a telecom company. “Smart cities will also allow us to save resources.” said Mrinalini Ingram. “By using sensors and 5G networks to monitor the use of water, gas and electricity, city managers can figure out how to distribute and save these resources more efficiently. Emissions of carbon dioxide and other air pollutants can be more closely monitored in smart cities as well.” Of course, it will take time and money to turn our current cities into the smart cities of the future. But as we’ve already seen, more cities around the world are already adopting smart technology in small ways. China, for instance, is making investments in big cities like Shanghai and Guangzhou to make them “smarter”. It won’t be long until even more cities start to develop their own smart infrastructure(基础设施). 32. What calls for the development of smart cities? A. The rapid progress in 5G networks. B. The marked increase in world population. C. The growing number of residents living in cities. D. The major concern over the safety of living in cities. 33. How does the writer illustrate the way smart cities work? A. By making a contrast. B. By giving examples. C. By listing figures. D. By telling a story. 34. What can we learn from Mrinalini Ingram about smart cities? A. People will be able to make the most of our environment at will. B. Resources can be saved by keeping track of how they are used. C. People will be better aware of environmental protection. D. Air pollution will be stopped in its track. 35. What is the author’s attitude toward smart cities? A. Positive. B. Critical. C. Doubtful. D. Indifferent. 【答案】 32.C 33.B 34.B 35.A 【解析】 32. C. 根据第二段more than 60 percent of the world’s population is expected to live in cities by 2050, according to a UN report. The answer to making these cities more livable for so many people lies in creating “smart” cities. “根据联合国的一份报告,预计到2050年,全球60%以上的人口将居住在城市。让这些城市更适合这么多人居住的答案在于创建智能城市”可知,发展智能城市的原因是人口的快速增长。学生容易误选A,第二段提到智能城市会使用5G网络,但并未说5G网络的快速发展导致了智能城市的发展。 33.B.文章第二段通过三个例子in the United States cities of Boston and Baltimore…; In Amsterdam, the Netherlands…; And in Copenhagen, Denmark…来阐述智慧城市的运作方式,故选B。 34.B.根据第五段By using sensors and 5G networks to monitor the use of water, gas and electricity, city managers can figure out how to distribute and save these resources more efficiently. Emissions of carbon dioxide and other air pollutants can be more closely monitored in smart cities as well可知,城市通过传感器和5G网络来监控和分配资源的使用,从而帮助我们更高效地生活,故选B。原文说智慧城市可以“communicate with our environment”而不是随意利用环境,故A错。C选项文章没有提及。选文说air pollutants的排放量会减少,而不是没有,故D错。 35.A.根据文章最后一段“But as we’ve already seen, more cities around the world are already adopting smart technology in small ways.” 和“It won’t be long until even more cities start to develop their own smart infrastructure.”可知,作者对智能城市的态度是积极乐观的。 D     Have you ever experienced such an annoying thing as it took so long to open a web page? You're watching stops every few minutes, which ruined your internet experience. But it could be a thing of the past. On June 3, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced that China would issue licenses for the commercialization of 5G. It means major telecom carriers will start to provide 5G services.     The "G" in "5G" refers to the generation of mobile network technologies. 1G let us talk to each other, 2G let us send messages, 3G gave us mobile data and the internet, and 4G made all of these things faster.     Now 5G promises much faster data download and upload speeds, and more stable connections. This means that you will be able to download an entire HD movie in seconds and only experience a short delay between sending and receiving data. For example, when you have a video chant with your friend, there is generally a 100 to 200 milliseconds (毫秒) delay with 4G, but 5G will reduce the delay to 1 millisecond or less, which is almost real time.     With a 5G network, the short delay in information exchange will allow driverless cars to run more safely, as they will be able to communicate in real time and avoid potential dangers. Meanwhile, 5G enabled wearable devices will keep doctors constantly updated on the health status of their patients and warn them immediately if there's something wrong. Besides, VR games will become more popular with 5G. The short delay of 5G will make the games feel even more real.     Though 5G will make our lives more convenient, it will not be perfect. For one thing, 5G will not "travel" far. On 4 networks, you can be 10 kilometers away from the nearest transmission (传输) base and barely lose signal. But 5G will only cover about 300 meters, meaning we will need more transmitters so that we can get signals. And in order to use 5G, we will have to buy new specially, designed for 5G that are currently expensive. (1)What is the function of the first paragraph? A.To provide a background of the topic. B.To offer basic knowledge of the topic. C.To use an example to support the topic. D.To draw readers' attention to the topic. (2)According to the passage, what is likely to happen to our life with 5G? A.Doctors can treat more patients. B.No drivers are needed in the near future. C.Many advanced technologies will be further improved. D.Children will hate playing VR games in the real world. (3)What can he found when 5G is compared with 4G? A.4G cover smaller areas. B.4G needs more transmitters. C.5G signals can travel farther. D.5G costs higher in early stage. (4)What is the text mainly about? A.The development of 5G. B.Challenges that 5G will face. C.Benefits that people will get from 5G. D.The difference that 5G will make to our lives. 【答案】1.D 2.C 3.D 4.D 【解析】本文为一篇说明文,介绍了5G时代的到来即将给人们的生活带来的影响。 (1)考查推理判断。根据第一段中的“Have you ever experienced such an annoying thing as it took so long to open a web page? You're watching stops every few minutes.”可知,第一段使用打开网页时间长且卡顿的例子来吸引读者并引出主题。故选D。 (2)考查推理判断。根据第四段“With a 5G network, the short delay in information exchange will allow driverless cars to run more safely, as they will be able to communicate in real time and avoid potential dangers. Meanwhile, 5G enabled wearable devices will keep doctors constantly updated on the health status of their patients and warn them immediately if there's something wrong. Besides, VR games will become more popular with 5G. The short delay of 5G will make the games feel even more real.”可知,5G使无人汽车更安全;医生更精准获取病人的 病情;VR游戏玩起来更逼真。所有这些都得益于5G传输速度的极大提高。由此可推知,5G使许多先进技术得到进一步优化。故选C。 (3)考查细节理解。根据最后一段中的“ And in order to use 5G, we will have to buy new product specially designed for 5G that are currently expensive.” Maybe you live in places where English is not the main language. When you speak, your speech might be slower than you would like. This is because your mind is still translating things from your first language into English, which can also sound unnatural. ①________ It is not very difficult, but it does take conscious effort and practice. Think in single words. Charles Thomas has taught English to Union members, children and teenagers for over 10 years. He tells his students to name the things that they see around them, wherever they are.②________  Think in sentences. For example, if you are sitting in a park, you can tell yourself things like, ''It' s such a beautiful day" and ''People are playing sports with their friends." ③________  Think in conversation. This is a great way to practice what you might say in a real conversation. For example, let' s say the imaginary person asks you a question like, ''What did you think of the talk show last night?" ④________ Imagine the conversation and practice it in your head. You can do this out loud or in silence. ⑤________ ''When you're doing it every day, over and over again, little by little, that's the key. Because when you make things a habit, it just pops up into your mind without thinking and then, before you know it, really, you're thinking in English, '' Thomas says. A.Practice it daily. B.How would you answer? C.Speak English with a native speaker. D.As the saying goes, practice makes perfect. E.Start with nouns and then add in verbs, he suggests. F.Once this becomes easy, move on to more difficult sentences. G.The good news is that thinking in English will bring you closer to fluency! It is not very difficult, but it does take conscious effort and practice. He tells his students to name the things that they see around them, wherever they are. For example, let' s say the imaginary person asks you a question like, ''What did you think of the talk show last night?" 可知是一个提问的举例,设空句应与回答该提问有关。B项意为“你会怎么回答”,承接上文,符合语境。故正确答案为B。 5. 根据下文中 When you're doing it every day, over and over again, little by little, that's the key. 可知,Thomas 建议,每天都这么做,一遍又一遍,一点一点地做,由此可知此段介绍每天都要练习的建议,设空句是此段内容的小标题,是此段大意的高度概括,因此设空句应与每天都练习有关。A项意为“每天练习”,引出下文,符合语境。故正确答案为A。 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究! $
