专题09 so...that,so that和such...that 第一部分 语法 一、such...that...，so...that...和so that的用法 1、such...that作“如此……以至于”解,连接一个表示结果的状语从句。与so... that意思相同,但用法不同。such修饰名词(这个名词前面可以带形容词,也可以 不带)。such...that的结构可分以下三种: (1)such+形容词+不可数名同+that从句。如 He has male such great progress that the teachers are pleased with him.他进步得很快,老师们对他感到很满意 ( 2) such+a( an)+形容词+单数可数名词+that从句。如: He was much an honest boy that the teacher praised him.他非常诚实,因而受到了老师的表扬. (3)such+形容词+复数可数名词+that从句。如 They are much interesting novels that I want to read them once again,这些小说非常有趣，我想再读一遍 2、so...that...意为“如此……以至于……”,引导的是结果状语从句,其结构为 so+形容词/副词+that从句。 He worked so hard（副词） that he passed the examination.他努力学习,结果通过了这次考试。 David is so tall （形容词）that he can join the basketball team.戴维个子高大,所以能参加篮球队。 注意：如果名词前有many,much,few和little等间修饰的话,则这些修饰词前不用such 而用so。如 He had so many falls that he was black and blue all over.他摔了很多跤,以至于全身青一块、紫一块的, so that的用法 引导目的状语从句时,表示“以便;为了",从句中常使用can/could/ many/might/will/would/should等情态动词成助动词。如：The little boy saved every coin so that he could buy his mother a present on Mather's Day.为了能够在母亲节那天给他妈妈买一件礼物,那个小男孩节省了每一分钱。 So that还可以引导结果状语从句,意为“因此,所以”,在口语中,that可以省略。如：Lacy wanted to help people so that she became a doctor.露西想帮助人们、所以就成了医生。 二、so...that,so that和such...that知识拓展 1、so that引导的目的状语从句可转化成in order that从句或"in order to+动词原形”结构。如: He got up early in order that he could catch the first bus.=He got up early so that he could catch the first bus.=He got up early in order to catch the first bus. 2、so...that ...引导结果状语从句有时候可以与such ...that ...结构相互转 换。如: It is such a heavy stone that I can't lift it up.=The stone is so heavy that l can't lift it up.=It is so heavy a stone that I can't lift it up. 3、在“so+形容词或副词+that从句”结构中，当结果状语从句为肯定句时,可以与 be ...enough to do转换;当从句为否定句时，可以与too...to...或 be not...enough to do转换。如: He is strong enough to carry this box.=He is so strong that he can carry this box David was not old enough to join the army.=David was so young that he couldn't join the army.=David was too young to join the
