Writing a review of a book or story

This section consists of a series of activities which provide us students with opportunities to learn and practise our language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. This section is divided into three steps and each step is preceded with a skills building activity.
By going through the three steps, we will learn how to listen for key words, how to ask for and give opinions, and how to write a review of a book or story. We are expected to apply these skills practically by writing a review of a short story.

listening for key words
When your teacher is speaking, it is important to listen carefully for key words. Key words are the most important words in a sentence or paragraph. Teachers often use key words when giving useful hints(暗示;提示;示意) about homework or tests. Below is some useful information on how to listen for key words.
