情态动词专项复习1
情态动词:具有一定词义,不能单独作谓语,必须和动词原形连用一起构成谓语。用来表示愿望、态度或推测等。
★考点一:情态动词的情态意义
can
can表现在或将来的能力“能;会”
=be able to
Sam can speak English.
can表请求、允许,意为“可以”。
Can you come to my party?
否定:can’t,“不能”
I can’t swim.
could
could表示过去的能力;
Lily could play the piano well when she was young.
Could在疑问句中表委婉请求,
回答用can
--Could I have a cup of tea?
--Of course you can.
否定:couldn’t意为“不能”。
The little girl couldn’t dress herself.
may
may表示请求、允许,意为“可以”。
May I speak to John?
否定:may not
might
might表请求许可语气比may更婉
Might I speak here?
must
must表示义务、命令或必要,意为“必须”,强调主观看法。
I must finish my homework first.
mustn’t 表示“不允许;禁止”
You mustn't take photos in the museum.禁止在博物馆拍照。
have to
have to“不得不”,强调客观需要。
I have to go to work every day.
should
should意为“应该”表义务或责任
We should clean the classroom every day.
should还可以表示劝告或建议。
You should lie down and rest.
否定:shouldn’t,“不应该”
All of us shouldn’t wast water.
我们所有人都不应该浪费水。
