Our school held a Career Experience Day in September. I wanted to work with the science team because I love experiments but all the places were taken. The teacher put me with the school maintenance team instead. I was disappointed. I thought their job was only about carrying tools and fixing broken chairs.
Mr Zhou, a maintenance worker, greeted me at 8 a.m. Our first task was to check a classroom door that would not close. I expected him to repair it immediately, but he first asked the teacher when the problem started and watched how the door moved. “Finding the real cause saves time,” he explained. We discovered that a loose screw (螺丝) was the problem, and I helped hold the door while he fixed it.
Later, a student reported that a drinking fountain was leaking. I hurried to get a toolbox, but Mr Zhou stopped me. He showed me a wet-floor sign and said safety came first. We placed the sign, turned off the water and then repaired the fountain. By lunchtime, I had already learned that the job needed careful thinking, communication and practical skills.
The hardest moment came in the afternoon. We were asked to put up a noticeboard before a parents’ meeting. I measured (测量) the wall incorrectly, so the first marks were useless. I felt my face grow hot. Mr Zhou did not blame me. He said, “Mistakes are information. Check them and try again.” I measured the wall a second time, and this time we got it right.
At the end of the day, my arms were tired, but my mind was full of new ideas. I still enjoy science, yet I no longer think some jobs are more interesting than others just because of their names. A wonderful job is one in which people use their skills to solve real problems and help others. Trying something new changed the way I looked at work and at myself.

D. Read the passage and answer the questions.(阅读短文,回答问题)(14分)
