第一节
Possible version 1:
When Pursuing a Healthy Lifestyle: What Matters Most?
When pursuing a healthy lifestyle, regular exercise matters most.
Although healthy eating and a positive mindset are helpful, they cannot replace the physical benefits of working out regularly. By exercising consistently, we not only build our strong muscles but release stress effectively. What’s more, regular exercise improves sleep quality and boosts our energy levels throughout the day. Moreover, it helps prevent diseases and keeps our heart healthy. Motivated by the positive physical changes, we are more likely to maintain a balanced diet and stay optimistic. Ultimately, regular exercise is the solid foundation that makes a healthy lifestyle truly sustainable.
Possible version 2:
When Pursuing a Healthy Lifestyle: What Matters Most?
When pursuing a healthy lifestyle, healthy eating is undoubtedly the most crucial factor.
Without proper nutrition, no amount of exercise or positive thinking can keep our bodies functioning well. A balanced diet provides essential energy for daily activities and strengthens our immune system, helping us prevent diseases. Moreover, what we eat directly affects our mental health — nutrient-rich foods like vegetables and fish improve brain function and lift our mood. While regular exercise and optimism are important, they work best only when fueled by good nutrition.
In short, healthy eating is the foundation upon which a truly sustainable lifestyle is built.
Possible version 3:
When Pursuing a Healthy Lifestyle: What Matters Most?
When pursuing a healthy lifestyle, a positive mindset ranks first.
It serves as the driving force that keeps us motivated to exercise regularly and eat healthily. Without a positive attitude, we are likely to give up halfway when facing difficulties or setbacks. Moreover, optimism helps reduce stress, which is essential for mental and physical well-being. When we stay positive, we are more likely to make wise choices, stay disciplined, and stick to healthy habits in the long run. After all, our mindset shapes our daily actions and decisions.
Therefore, a positive mindset is the key that unlocks a healthy life.
第二节
One possible version:
Just before noon, the doorbell rang, and Eisley opened it to find her friends standing on the porch (门廊). Eisley’s eyes widened in disbelief, with her trembling hands flying to her mouth. She rushed forward, wrapping her friends in a tight, tearful hug, feeling their warm arms embrace her back. Her shoulders relaxed as their cheerful laughter melted her sadness away, with a profound sense of belonging and unconditional love. Inside, her mother lit candles on the cupcake. Then everyone gathered around, their smiling faces glowing warmly in the soft candlelight.
As Eisley closed her eyes to make her wish, she felt something shift inside her. She took a deep, shaky breath, her eyes closing tightly. A gentle, bright smile slowly replaced the lingering sadness on her face. Opening her eyes, she leaned forward and blew out the single flame. The room erupted in joyous applause, echoing through the small kitchen. After sharing the little cupcake and chatting happily with everyone, Eisley realised that the best birthday was not about perfect decorations or a huge cake. It was the people who cared about her that made the day unforgettable.

W: I’m sure you’ll love it. The elderly are lovely and full of stories.
Text 10
W: Good morning, everyone. Today I’ll share about our business course we took this term. This course helps us develop business ideas and turn them into projects. In the first few weeks, we learned to identify market needs and analyze customers. Then we formed teams and each team chose a product to work on. Our instructor encouraged us to think creatively and not to be afraid of failure. We also had guest speakers who are successful business owners. They shared their personal stories and gave us practical advice on marketing. One of the most useful parts was the business plan competition, where we presented our ideas to a panel of judges. Although we did not win first prize, we gained a lot of confidence and learned from the feedback. I believe this course not only teaches business skills but also builds teamwork and problem-solving abilities. For anyone interested in starting their own business, I strongly recommend taking such a course. It opens your mind and prepares you for the future.

Tulip, based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, still treasures her first crochet (钩针编织) piece: a navy-blue coaster she made in high school, with guidance from an older friend. What started as a simple hobby seven years ago has since grown into a full-time career.
“The Internet moves too fast,” she said. “People are trapped in constant anxiety. But crochet is naturally slow — it can’t be rushed. It’s about weaving together fragmented moments, stitch (一针) by stitch.”
Known by the handle (网名) Qingzheng Mozai on social media, Tulip represents a rising wave of young Chinese embracing an old-school life as a balance against the non-stop pace of modern life. This philosophy includes crafts, food, and personal rituals (惯例), forming a complete approach to living.
A 2025 survey by China Youth Daily found that 89.9 percent of 1,337 young respondents said they liked visiting local food markets while traveling. Similarly, content related to crochet has attracted billions of views across platforms such as Xiaohongshu and Douyin, according to a March report by China News Service.
A former fashion design student, Tulip struggled with crochet during her university years, receiving poor grades in related courses. But she didn’t give up. She began posting her work online, looking for a community of like-minded people. The support she found there helped her improve, both in her crochet skills and in her understanding of the deeper value crochet brought to her life — a sense of peace. “I used to fear heavy workloads,” she admitted. “But crochet showed me how to take things step by step. No matter how heavy the load, it eventually gets done.”
Her passion for crochet even led her to translate a foreign crochet pattern book into Chinese — a task that required not just language skills but also a deep, practical knowledge of the craft, as many international patterns didn’t have Chinese editions.
24. What’s the function of the first paragraph?
A. To present a survey result. B. To explain crochet’s slow nature.
C. To describe the power of hobbies. D. To introduce Tulip’s crochet story.
25. How is the fourth paragraph developed?
A. By listing data. B. By telling stories.
C. By giving examples. D. By making comparisons.
26. What challenge did Tulip face in college regarding crochet?
A. She had no courses related to crochet.
B. She received poor grades on crochet.
C. She failed to turn crochet into a career then.
D. She found crochet too slow to fit her pace.
27. What did Tulip translate?
A. A Chinese craft book. B. Her first crochet piece.
C. An overseas pattern book. D. A book with Chinese editions.

Miami is known for its sunny beaches, palm trees, and outdoor malls, but do you know it’s also home to the only coral reef (珊瑚礁) in North America? As the second most visited city in the US, Miami is ready to turn its coastline into both a cultural landmark and a living, breathing refuge for marine life. Known as ReefLine, the underwater sculpture park is meant to become one of Miami’s biggest tourist attractions and a new symbol of the city.
Using urban corals that have demonstrated resistance to bleaching (漂白) and disease, the Miami Native Coral Lab will produce thousands of corals each year to rebuild reef habitat that has been lost over the decades off the coast of Miami Beach. The corals are to be transplanted onto concrete sculptures and become a habitat for creatures, bringing biodiversity back to the area, which has been in decline since the 1970s.
As artistic director and founder, Ximena Caminos sees ReefLine as a blend of creativity and conservation: marine-grade concrete sculptures are not merely artistic installations, but also serve as artificial habitats to rebuild declining coral ecosystems.
The project’s first installation is Concrete Coral by Argentine artist Leandro Erlich. It features 22 full-scale cars cast in marine-grade concrete, arranged in a traffic jam on the seafloor, representing human effect and nature’s strength. ReefLine will be visible from above and accessible to snorkelers (浮潜者) swimming from the beach. Future installations are already in development scheduled for 2026.
Caminos expects ReefLine to take a decade or more to complete its full 7-mile stretch. Alongside the underwater installations, plans include a marine learning center onshore, where visitors can learn about coral conservation and the delicate ecosystems the project aims to protect. Over time, the sculptures will become living reefs, their surfaces covered in coral and even visible from the sky to travelers flying into Miami. Caminos has hope that the Miami Reef Star could even become a symbol of the city.
28. What is ReefLine intended to become?
A. A tourist spot. B. A coral farm. C. A land museum. D. A shopping mall.
29. What is paragraph 2 mainly about?
A. Urban coral features. B. Coral growing plans.
C. Lab research methods. D. Habitat loss of the reef.
30. What does the underlined word “blend” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. Combination. B. Alternative. C. Division. D. Transformation.
31. Why will ReefLine have an onshore center?
A. To train professional marine experts.
B. To attract more tourists.
C. To raise tourists’ awareness of coral protection.
D. To store seulpture materials.

The Guinean government has launched an ambitious program to bring Internet access to more than 2,200 public primary schools by the end of 2027. The initiative is part of GIGA, a global project led jointly by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and UNICEF, aimed at ensuring every child has fair access to the digital world.
So far, around 600 schools across the country have already been equipped for stable and secure Internet connections. Authorities planned to connect 1,000 more schools by late 2026, reaching over one million students nationwide. This new connectivity gives teachers and students access to a vast library of digital learning resources — paving the way for more interactive and inclusive education.
According to Jean Paul Cédy, Guinea’s Minister of Pre-University Education and Literacy, the project marks the start of a “new educational era” for the country. It aims to promote digital equity, open Guinean classrooms to the world, and help address the teacher shortage. The connectivity project is part of Guinea’s national digital education road map, launched in 2021 to make ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) key drivers of innovation and quality in teaching.
Consistent with this mission, the Simandou Academy Initiative — tied to the country’s long-term vision, “Simandou 2040” — promotes a digital, inclusive, and innovation-driven education ecosystem. Former Education Minister Alpha Amadou Bano Barry has long argued that digital transformation is a vital teaching tool. He imagines a system where lessons, assignments, grades, and textbooks coexist on a single online platform. Virtual discussion groups could link Guinean students with peers across Africa and beyond — while parents gain real-time access to their children’s academic progress.
By investing in school connectivity, Guinea hopes to bridge the digital divide and empower its youth to fully participate in the knowledge economy. Supported by the United Nations, the initiative signals a bold national commitment to building a tech-ready generation. For the government, this marks a decisive step toward the “connected and inclusive” Guinean school of the future.
32. What is the purpose of GIGA?
A. To guarantee online chances for the youth.
B. To construct new primary school buildings.
C. To train all teachers in modern digital skills.
D. To equip schools with Internet connectivity.
33. What can the new connectivity bring to education?
A. Better school facilities. B. More learning resources.
C. Fewer student dropouts. D. Higher teacher salaries.
34. What does the Simandou Academy Initiative advocate?
A. Traditional teaching methods. B. Separate learning environments.
C. Digital and innovative education. D. Face-to-face parent-teacher meetings.
35. What’s the author’s attitude to Guinea’s project?
A. Critical. B. Positive. C. Doubtful. D. Neutral.

阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Dolphin-assisted therapy (疗法) is a form of animal-assisted intervention. The concept gained popularity in the late 20th century when psychologist David Nathanson began using dolphins as a reward to motivate children with Down syndrome (唐氏综合征). In some sessions, learning earns the child a chance to swim with the dolphin. 36 Psychologists say the excitement of interacting with such a remarkable animal may motivate children to attempt tasks they might otherwise avoid.
For many families, dolphin therapy represents hope. Some parents report powerful emotional moments during sessions, such as children making eye contact, showing increased engagement, or speaking for the first time. Stories like these help explain why families travel long distances and pay high prices for programs. 37
Despite powerful stories, scientific evidence supporting dolphin therapy remains limited. The benefits of dolphin-assisted therapy are largely based on personal accounts rather than solid proof.
38 They also lack proper control groups, making it difficult to prove that dolphins themselves cause treatment-related improvements.
Critics of the therapy also point out ethical concerns for dolphins. Dolphins are highly intelligent and social marine mammals (哺乳动物). 39 Keeping them in closed areas for therapy sessions can cause stress and disrupt their natural behaviors.
40 For many families, the experience brings joy, motivation, and moments of connection that feel deeply meaningful. At the same time, the debate is ongoing as to whether the therapy provides measurable benefits and whether dolphins should be used in this way.
A. This encourages engagement and focus.
B. However, they still need more research.
C. They naturally live in vast ocean environments.
D. Families often seek out this type of therapy for children.
E. In the end, the question of dolphin therapy remains open.
F. Some sessions can cost thousands of dollars for two weeks of therapy.
G. Many researchers say studies promoting the therapy suffer from weak design.

Eisley Marquez had been looking forward to celebrating her 9th birthday. For weeks, she had imagined the perfect day: a party in the backyard with colorful balloons, a giant cake with sweet cream, and all her friends gathering around to sing. Her parents had promised to make it special, and Eisley had counted down the days on her calendar, crossing off each one with a bright pink marker. Every morning she would wake up, thinking about the moment she would blow out the candles and make a wish. It was all that she could talk about at school. So her excitement seemed to grow with each passing hour.
The morning of her birthday arrived with golden sunlight streaming through her window. Eisley jumped out of bed and ran downstairs, expecting to see decorations hanging in the kitchen. Instead, she found her mother on the phone, her voice low and anxious, and her father pacing by the window. Something was wrong. She soon learned that a sudden storm had damaged the party venue, and half of her friends could not make it due to the weather. Her heart sank. All her careful planning and all her dreams of the perfect celebration seemed to be falling apart.
Tears welled in her eyes as she sat at the kitchen table, her small hands resting on her lap. She tried hard to hold back the disappointment that weighed like a heavy stone in her chest. She stole a glance (瞥一眼) at her parents, hoping for some sign that things might still turn around, but their worried faces told her otherwise. She stared at the single cupcake her mother had placed before her. This was not how it was supposed to be. She had wanted so much more. However, now everything felt ruined.
