B

When David was 14, his father became seriously ill and had to stay in the hospital for months. David's mother worked two jobs to pay the bills, so David spent most of his after-school time at the hospital with his father.
One day, he noticed an old man named Mr. Chen in the next bed. Mr. Chen had no family visiting him. He just stared at the ceiling all day, looking lonely and sad. David felt sorry for him.
"Can I read you a newspaper?" David asked one afternoon. Mr. Chen nodded slowly. From that day on, David spent 30 minutes every day with Mr. Chen — reading news, telling jokes, or just sitting quietly together.
Slowly, Mr. Chen began to smile. He told David stories about his youth, about how he used to be a teacher in a mountain village. "I taught hundreds of students," Mr. Chen said with pride. "But now, no one remembers me."
David had an idea. He started a "Memory Project" at school. He encouraged his classmates to visit the hospital and listen to elderly patients' stories. They recorded the stories and wrote them down.
Six months later, David published a small book called *Voices of the Elderly*. It included 30 stories from hospital patients. Mr. Chen's story was on the first page.
When Mr. Chen held the book in his trembling hands, tears ran down his face. "I thought my life meant nothing," he said. "But now, my story will live on."
David is now 17. He still runs the Memory Project. "Everyone has a story worth telling," he says. "Sometimes, the greatest gift we can give is simply to listen."

20. Why did David spend most of his after-school time at the hospital?

A. He worked there as a volunteer       B. His father was ill in hospital

C. He had a part-time job there         D. His mother asked him to visit patients

21. What did David do for Mr. Chen at first?

A. He bought him gifts               B. He helped him with meals

C. He read newspapers to him          D. He took him outside for walks

22. Why did David start the "Memory Project"?

A. To raise money for poor patients         B. To record elderly people's life stories

C. To help students improve writing skills    D. To prepare for a school competition

23. What can we learn from David's story?

A. Hard work leads to success           B. Family is the most important thing

C. Listening to others is a valuable gift    D. Old people should learn new technology

①The Feynman Technique (费曼学习法) is a study method that helps students learn by teaching others. Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman developed it many years ago.

②The Feynman Technique has been one of the most useful study methods for many years. For one thing, it helps students really understand something instead of just remembering information. Besides, instead of reading textbooks or reviewing notes like other methods, it pushes students to actively take part in the learning process.

③If you want to use the Feynman Technique to study better, follow these steps. To begin with, choose a topic you want to learn, including sub-topics. If not, you’ll jump between topics without developing a deeper understanding of any of them.page number 2
