To him, writing wasn’t just about putting words on paper — it was a special style. Writing was about carefully shaping thoughts and sharing them clearly. As a teenager, the leaking ink always caused trouble for me. I felt this way until last summer when I cleaned out his room upstairs and discovered something new. While sorting through boxes, I came across a wooden box filled with letters, which included not only the ones he had received but also the ones he had written himself. One letter, written to the local government about the closure of a neighborhood park, wasn’t just a list of problems. Instead, he had described the scene of elderly men playing chess in the shade, the faraway sound of children laughing, and the general peaceful feeling of the community. The writing was both beautiful and powerful, asking the local government to think about the value of community spaces. It was then that I understood. My grandfather wrote his letters not only to communicate information, but as works of more love and respect than beautiful handwriting, to give the reader the time and attention they needed. He wasn’t writing for quick exchange, as I often did with my text messages, but for lasting effect. I began using that old fountain pen again. At first, I found it disappointing to write at the pace my thoughts raced. But gradually, the slow ink flow made me slow down and think deeply and carefully about my thoughts, my emotions, and my words. 4. How did the author find using a fountain pen at the beginning? A. Unique. B. Expensive. C. Useful. D. Troublesome. 5. What made the author change his attitude toward the fountain pen? A. The description of the peaceful park. B. The discovery of his grandfather’s letters. C. The beautiful handwriting in the letters. D. The quick exchange of text messages. 6. What happened after the author used the pen again? A. He came to think in a deeper way. B. He wrote much faster than before. C. He found it easy to use the pen. D. He stopped sending text messages. 7. What is a suitable title for this text? A. The Art of Handwriting B. The Slow Pace of Modern Life C. The Letters of My Grandpa D. The Wisdom of a Fountain Pen C Christmas stockings may hold more surprises this year. Children will open presents that can talk back. Toymakers in China have called 2025 the year of AI, producing robots and teddy bears that can teach, play and tell stories. Older children are attracted to AI videos, and at school, many are taught with materials created by AI tools. However, childhood may be changed most by AI when it is working as it is designed to do. The technology quickly learns what its user likes and shows more of it. What you see on social media has already created echo chambers where people see only views they agree with. AI may make these chambers stronger at an early age. A child who likes football may be told football stories by his teddy and given football examples by his AI tutor. This not only kills chance discoveries. A favourites-only diet means a child need never learn to deal with something unfamiliar. One-sided relationships with chatbots present a similar risk. AI partners never criticize, nor share feelings of their own, so they are poor preparation for dealing with real humans. A third of American teenagers say they find chatting to AI partners at least as satisfying as talking to a friend, and easier than talking to their parents. These robots create children not used to taking turns, who grow up unable to get along with others. Some basic steps are urgent. The government should set age limits for chatbots. Teachers are wrong if they think essays written at home can be trusted. In the age of AI, more in-school tests are very necessary. The longer-term challenge is to protect the socialisation that AI could take away from children. Schools are the best place to do this. They should use personalized teaching where it works. But they must also teach things a robot can’t: how to debate, how to disagree, and how to get along with people who are not like a chatbot. 8. What can we learn about AI toys in paragraph 1? A. They are mainly produced in China. B. They are widely used in school teaching. C. They may bring unexpected changes to childhood. D. They are becoming more popular with older children. 9. What does the underlined word “echo chambers” in paragraph 2 refer to? A. Places where children play with AI toys. B. Chatrooms where teenagers talk to friends. C. Classrooms where AI tools are used. D. Online spaces where people share similar views. 10. What is the danger of one-sided relationships with chatbots? A. They make children less willing to talk to their parents. B. They fail to prepare children for real human relationships. C. They teach children to point out others’ mistakes. D. They help children become more independent. 11. What does the author advise schools to do? A. Stop using AI tools in teaching. B. Give students more homework online. C. Teach students how to interact with real people. D. Use AI to test students instead of in-school tests. D Ten thousand steps have become a popular goal for a healthy day. But for many people, it is hard to reach when they are busy or tired. Now a new study suggests another way to stay healthy: take fewer steps, but walk faster. The study was published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. It found that both step count and walking speed are linked to a lower risk of death from heart disease. In the study, researchers looked at data from more than 64,000 people in the UK. These people were about 62 years old on average, and researchers followed them for about eight years. They found that people who walked fewer than 5,000 steps a day but walked faster during their active periods had a lower risk of death than those who took similar steps at a slower pace. However, people who walked 7,500 to 10,000 steps a day had the lowest risk. The study cannot prove that walking faster or taking more steps prevents death. But it adds to earlier research showing that you don’t need 10,000 steps a day to be healthy. In fact, the “10,000 steps” idea came from a Japanese pedometer marketing campaign in the 1960s, not from scientific data. The new study suggests that step count matters, but walking speed may also be important for health and long life. Why does walking faster help? It makes your heart beat faster and your breathing deeper. Over time, this improves your heart and lung health. A stronger heart can pump blood and oxygen more efficiently. Faster blood flow can also lower blood pressure by keeping blood vessels (血管) flexible. Experts say you should walk more and walk faster, but any exercise is good. “You don’t need to chase a certain number on your watch,” says Ichinoe, a doctor. The best plan depends on your age, fitness, and what you enjoy. You can start by walking your usual route a little faster, or by adding hills or stairs. Then slowly increase your steps, your speed, or both. 12. What does the new study find about walking? A. Walking slowly is safer for older people. B. Step count is more important than walking speed. C. Ten thousand steps a day is the best goal for everyone. D. Walking faster may bring health benefits with fewer steps. 13. What can we learn about the “10,000 steps” idea? A. It came from a scientific study. B. It was first used by UK researchers. C. It is still the only goal doctors recommend. D. It began in a marketing campaign in the 1960s. 14. Why does the author talk about the heart and blood vessels? A. To explain how walking faster improves health. B. To show why older people should walk less. C. To suggest that step count alone is not enough. D. To suggest that walking can replace medicine. 15. What do the experts suggest people do? A. Follow a fixed step goal every day. B. Stop tracking steps and speed. C. Walk in a way that suits their own situation. D. Avoid fast walking if they have health problems. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 The Magic of Novels Novels have been loved by people for hundreds of years. (作为一个青少年,墨水渗漏总是给我带来麻烦。)”可知,作者一开始觉得使用钢笔很麻烦。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段的“While sorting through boxes, I came across a wooden box filled with letters, which included not only the ones he had received but also the ones he had written himself.(在整理箱子时,我偶然发现了一个装满信件的木箱,里面不仅有他收到的信,还有他自己写的信。)”,第三段“It was then that I understood. My grandfather wrote his letters not only to communicate information, but as works of more love and respect than beautiful handwriting, to give the reader the time and attention they needed. He wasn’t writing for quick exchange, as I often did with my text messages, but for lasting effect. 和第四段中“I began using that old fountain pen again. 【答案】8. C 9. D 10. B 11. C 【解析】 【导语】本文介绍AI玩具等产品走入儿童生活,指出其易催生信息茧房、阻碍孩子社交能力发展的风险,呼吁政府、学校采取措施保护儿童成长。 【8题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段中的“Christmas stockings may hold more surprises this year. Children will open presents that can talk back.(今年圣诞袜可能会装有更多惊喜。孩子们会打开能回话的礼物。)”结合第二段中“However, childhood may be changed most by AI when it is working as it is designed to do.(然而,当AI按照设计的方式运行时,童年可能会被它改变最多)”可知,AI玩具可能给童年带来意料之外的改变。 根据第三段中的“AI partners never criticize, nor share feelings of their own, so they are poor preparation for dealing with real humans.(AI伙伴从不批评,也不分享自己的感受,因此它们无法为应对真实的人类做好准备)”可知,与聊天机器人建立单向关系的危险在于它不能帮助孩子们为现实中的人际交往做好准备。 【11题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中的“But they must also teach things a robot can’t: how to debate, how to disagree, and how to get along with people who are not like a chatbot.(但学校也必须教机器人教不了的东西:如何辩论,如何提出异议,以及如何与不像聊天机器人的人相处)”可知,作者建议学校教学生如何与真实的人进行互动和相处。 D Ten thousand steps have become a popular goal for a healthy day. 【答案】12. D 13. D 14. A 15.
