① Leo got 300 yuan from his grandparents on his birthday. He spent 260 yuan on a pair of sports shoes which he wanted. “Why not wait a few days before deciding?” His mother asked. “Think about what you really need before spending money.” But Leo didn’t agree. He felt happy to get the shoes because he believed money was for buying things people wanted.
② Just one week later, his school held a charity sale. Students could bring books, toys and other things to sell. The money raised would go to help children in poor areas. Leo decided to take part.
③ He chose a storybook he had read many times and a model car he had not played with for months. Soon he hesitated. “The model car is my favourite. Should I really give it away?” he thought. Then he pictured the kids in poor areas. Many of them had few books or toys. He wondered whether these things he no longer used could bring them joy. In the end, he put both of them into his bag.
