Months before the event, I stuck to my strict training schedule, running for at least five kilometers every morning regardless of (不管) cold winds. I knew the long-distance race would test both my physical strength and mental will.

Last Sunday, I took part in the Shenyang Marathon (马拉松), which turned out to be one of the most unforgettable experiences in my life. Months before the event, I stuck to my strict training schedule, running for at least five kilometers every morning regardless of (不管) cold winds. I knew the long-distance race would test both my physical strength and mental will.
When I stepped onto the starting line, crowds of spectators (观众) cheered loudly along the street. The moment the gun went off, thousands of runners moved forward together. At first, I felt energetic (精力充沛的) and kept pace with several partners. However, things changed gradually after 25 kilometers. My legs ached terribly and I was almost exhausted. Doubts (怀疑) appeared in my mind, and I wanted to give up the difficult race.
Just then, warm voices from local spectators reached my ears. Some waved small flags to encourage us. Their support lifted my spirits. I told myself I must keep on rather than give up halfway. I controlled my breathing and kept moving step by step, paying no attention to the pain in my body. Though tired, I refused to drop out.
Finally, I crossed the finishing line. Tired as I was, a strong sense of pride filled my heart. I didn’t care much about my final rank. What really mattered was that I got over my own weakness. This marathon taught me that victory (胜利) belongs to those who hold on when facing difficulties.
