On my first round-the-world trip,I planned everything out in advance.I knew where I was going,
where I was staying, for how long, and how I would get there. And then half-way through I gave up the
plan and went with the flow.
Over the years, how I plan my travel has changed. Now,I'm a last-minute planner and seldom travel
with any plan.Travelling without a plan gives you great flexibility().Since nothing is booked far in
advance, you can turn to something different when you change your mind or something better comes along.
I changed my plans to meet a friend on an island in Thailand and stayed for a month.I wouldn't have had
that experience if I had kept to my planned schedule.
However, most new travellers behave quite differently--they overplan their trips.Their whole journey
is scheduled. Two days here, three days there.I understand why people do that. When time is short, you
want to see as much as possible rather than waste a single second.
But in travel, less is more.Spending more time in one place allows you to get a better feel for local life.
You can visit at a more relaxed pace, see more than just the attractions, and open up your schedule to the
happy accidents of travel.
When I first made my travel plan,I tried to include everything in it.Then I realised it was unworkable,
so I revised my plan.I came up with a list of one or two things I want to see each day and spaced
everything out. It's an important lesson to learn.I think the best trip plan is to work out the general path you
want to take, book the first few nights of your trip, and let your travels unfold from there. This way you are
never locked into a certain place if your feelings change.
24.How does the author usually plan trips now?
A.By arranging every detail in advance.
B.By making plans in the final hour.
C.By following a fixed daily schedule.
D.By booking the whole journey ahead.
25.Why do most new travellers plan their trips in great detail?
A.To spend more time in one place.
B.To learn more about local people.
C.To see as much as possible in limited time.D.To leave time for unexpected experiences.
26.What can be inferred from the passage?
A.Travellers usually avoid booking rooms ahead.
B.Changing travel plans often leads to a waste of time.
C.A detailed schedule is necessary for enjoying local life.
D.A rewarding trip does not have to include many places.
27.What could be the best title for the passage?
A.Plan Less,Enjoy More
B.Travel Together,Share Freely
C.Plan Ahead,Travel Smoothly
D.Stay Less,Visit More

Do you often believe you've mastered a key point the moment it"clicks"in your mind? Many of us
naturally think that learning is done once a formula()makes sense or a text becomes clear. But real
learning is far less quick and much harder than that.
The first time you meet new material, you are not learning----you are just recognizing. You map
unfamiliar material, notice basic patterns and get a general idea of what it is about. This stage feels
productive, but it is just an introduction, not mastery.
The second pass brings you familiarity.Things that once confused you seem less difficult now.You
第2页
can follow the material and know what comes next. But this familiarity can be misleading:It gives you the
wrong feeling of understanding without real depth.
When you go over the material the third time, things start to change. You begin to notice gaps in your
knowledge, and find your past understanding is not sound.Passive()learning turns into active
questioning at this point.
The fourth pass is where real learning starts. You no longer just focus on what the material says. You
start to think about why it says so,how it works and where you can apply it.You connect ideas, retell
knowledge in your own words, and test it in new situations. Now knowledge becomes flexible, not
something you only memorize but something you can use.
Most people stop too early, and modern fast learning also makes repetition()seem unhelpful. But
repetition is improvement,not wasted effort.Learning is a spiral(螺旋式上升过程)rather than a straight
line---each time you revisit the same material, you discover something new, because you have grown, not
because the material has changed.
28.What problem does the second pass of learning cause?
A.You lose interest in the material.
B.You will forget the material quickly.
C.You start to question your knowledge.
D.You get a wrong feeling of deep understanding.
29.What will you get in the fourth pass of learning?
A.The ability to know what comes next.
B.A general idea of the learning material.
C.The ability to use the knowledge flexibly.
D.A realization of your knowledge gaps.
30.Which of the following might the author agree with about learning?
A.Most people can reach the fourth pass easily
B.Fast learning helps develop true experts.
C.Learning is a straight line from simple to difficult.
D.Repetition makes a contribution to deep understanding.
31.What is the best title for the text?
A.The Trouble with Familiarity
B.Reviewing Lessons Needs Good Methods
C.Real Learning Starts on the Fourth Pass
D.The Importance of Learning New Knowledge
D
Crows()are very smart birds. They can count, tell human faces apart, and even use tools.
Recently,a popular story said that a Swedish town was training crows to pick up cigarette butts().
While this project isn't actually happening now,the idea is based on real science.
In 2022,a researcher named Hans Christian Hanssen proposed"Corvid Cleaning".The plan was to
train wild crows to collect cigarette rubbish and drop it into special bins().In return, the bins would
give the birds food as a reward().The idea drew international attention, and some experts even praised
its possibilities to cut down litter in the city. However, the business behind the project failed in 2025.
Despite this, false news about the program continues to spread online.
Why did the project fail?A 2024 study pointed out some serious worries.Researchers worried about
the health risks to the crows and whether the public would accept animals cleaning up human waste.
Besides this, the business itself was short of money. This wasn't the first try either.A French theme park
tried something similar in 2018 with mixed results. In the end,the question isn't just whether we can train
crows to clean,but should we?
页共4页
But the story also draws attention to a huge environmental problem.Cigarette butts are the world's
most littered items.Humans throw away around 4.5 trillion filters every year, and that number could soon
double. These butts take years to break down and give off harmful chemicals into soil and waterways,
harming both wildlife and the environment.
While using clever crows as cleaners makes for an eye-catching headline, the real lesson is about
human responsibility.Instead of depending on animals to fix our problems,we need to address (
cigarette pollution at its source through better waste management and a change of smoking rules.Crows are
very smart, but at the end of the day, protecting the planet is our job,not theirs.
32.What was the main purpose of the"Corvid Cleaning"project?
A.To study crows'cleverness.
B.To test special trash bins in Sweden.
C.To create a new bird shelter.
D.To train crows to clear cigarette waste.
33.What problem did researchers raise about the crow-cleaning project?
A.The crows were not smart enough.
B.The special bins cost too much to build
C.It could harm the crows and upset the public.
D.The French project had already failed completely.
34.What does the text say about cigarette butts in the environment?
A.They are a problem only in European countries.
B.They are easy to collect and disappear in weeks.
C.They are the most littered item but are harmless to animals.
D.They give off harmful chemicals as they slowly break down.
35.What message does the author tell in the last paragraph?
A.Crows are too smart for cleaning tasks.
B.Theme parks should stop using wild animals.
C.Humans should take care of pollution themselves.
D.We should not believe false stories about animals.

What Seeds Want
On a pleasant spring afternoon,Tom and his little sister Amy wandered into the backyard. The
garden bed lay empty and forgotten, still buried under last autumn's dead leaves.Dry weeds grew in
patches across the yard, leaving the old garden looking grey and lifeless.
"I wish we could bring it back to life,"Amy said.
Tom nodded. He wanted to see green trees and bright colors in the yard again.
They found some old seeds in the kitchen. There were sunflowers, peas, carrots, and tomatoes.Amy
held the sunflower seeds, while Tom took the tomato seeds. They rushed outside, eager to get started.A
wooden fence ran along one side of the garden, and an old shovel()and a watering can lay nearby.
Amy put her seeds across the open bed in the middle, pressing them gently into the soil.Tom pushed his
seeds into the ground near the big apple tree. Then they watered the earth and watched it darken.Smiling,
they imagined bright flowers and juicy red tomatoes.
But days passed, and nothing went as they had hoped. The sunflower seeds never came up.The
tomato plants under the big apple tree grew weak and pale.Tom and Amy crouched(by the
garden,disappointed and confused.
Just then,Dad came out.He knelt down beside them and asked what was wrong. After listening,he
reminded them that not every seed wanted the same thing.Sunflowers wouldn't grow if their feet were
cold. They would have to be planted later, when the ground warmed up.Tomatoes did best in full sun,
while peas needed something to climb on.Carrots, meanwhile, were happiest in cool, wet soil.
"I get it!"Tom said."You have to give the seeds what they want, and they don't all want the same
things. They're picky! It's like when I want bananas in my milk and Amy wants blueberries."
"That's right,"said Dad."With the right sunshine,water,and soil,a plant can grow happily."
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
With their new knowledge, they set to work.
Weeks later, the garden began to change.
