If you’re wondering how to deal with teenage problems, here’s good news for you. There will be a talk on what to do with teenage problems and it will begin at 8:30 next Friday. To make sure that every student can take part in the talk, it will be held in the school hall. For attendance, Grade nine students must attend it. Also, to make the most of the talk, every student is asked to take notes carefully during the session. This talk will surely help students deal with their teenage problems better, so don’t forget to be there on time and bring your notebooks.

When teenagers grow from kids to adults, they will go through many different changes. It is normal for them to have all kinds of small problems. Some teenagers feel stressed because of too much schoolwork and endless exams. Some feel uncomfortable when they argue with their family members or close friends. Many also worry about their weight and looks when they enter this special life stage. These problems are all part of growing up. Teenagers should learn how to deal with these problems. Sticking to your hobbies and communicating with people you trust are good ways to help you through hard times. Remember that all these problems will finally pass and you will grow into a better person.
21.B
根据“you can picture what the ancient city looked like hundreds of years ago”可知,要在脑海中描绘出过去的景象,需要的是想象力,符合语境。
22.A
根据后句“You’d better take an umbrella”可知,此处表示下午有较大概率下雨,应填probably。
23.A
live through度过、经受住(艰难的时期);look through浏览、快速查看;put through接通(电话)、使顺利通过;read through通读。根据语境“To find a warm place”和“the cold days”可知,鸟类迁徙是为了寻找温暖的地方生存或度过寒冬。
at times有时,偶尔;at a time每次,逐一;at all times始终,任何时候;from time to time不时,偶尔。 应填at all times。
25.B
根据“and then you can save a lot of money”可知,通过比较同样商品的价格,可以省许多钱。故选B。
26.D
how如何;when何时;what什么;whether是否。根据答语“Work hard and trust yourself.”
after在⋯⋯之后;since自从;before在⋯⋯之前;while当⋯⋯时候。固定句型“It be+时间段+before...” 应填before。
28.D
as long as只要(引导条件状语从句);as well as和……一样好/也(后接名词或动词);as much as和…… 根据题干“kept so well”和“it looks ________ new”可知,保存得很好,所以看起来“几乎像新的一样”,as good as new表示“几乎像新的一样”,应填as good as。
29.C
It’s up to you. Don’t let me down. I’m sure you can make it. 根据前句“I’m afraid I will fail”及“Cheer up”可知,应答者在鼓励对方,应填I’m sure you can make it.

cheered him up“让他振作起来”、calmed him down“让他平静下来”、drove him mad“把他逼疯”,都不符合“我没有回应目光”带来的结果。
妈妈带来的装饰用红丝带是用来布置凯文的生日位置的,stuck(stick的过去式,此处表示“粘贴、放置”)符合给桌面布置生日装饰的动作逻辑。

根据第二段第三句“You can imagine my surprise, at sunrise, when a strange little voice woke me up.”
根据叙事顺序:第一段第三句中“until I had an accident with my plane in the Sahara desert six years ago”表明飞机失事(a)是最先发生的事件;第二段第一句“The first night, I slept on the sand, far away from people’s living places. I felt quite lonely.”表明睡在沙地上感到孤独(c)在事故之后;随后作者在日出时被小王子的声音唤醒,在沙漠中遇见小王子(b);第五段第五句“I said, handing him a piece of paper with nothing on it.”
根据倒数第二段倒数第三句“They said I should focus on my spelling and maths.”
根据倒数第二段倒数第二句“That’s when I realized adults never see the true meaning of things.”

根据第二段“Sometimes, the word green means young, fresh and growing…not yet ripe or finished”可知,绿色的含义包含年轻的、新鲜的、生长中的、不成熟的或者未完成的,Ripe“成熟的”含义不匹配。
57.根据第三段“In the 15th century...A century or so later...By the eighteenth century...today”可知,greenhorn一词的含义随着世纪更替在不断变化,说明语言是随着时间不断发展的。
58.根据第三段“Someone who has the ability to grow plants well is said to have a green thumb”可知,拥有green thumb的人擅长种植植物。
59.根据最后一段“The green-eyed monster is not a frightening creature from outer space. It describes the unpleasant feeling...”可知,It指代前一句的主语The green-eyed monster。
60.根据最后一段“It describes the unpleasant feeling that a person has when someone has something that he wants”可推知,Mary想要Kate拥有的裙子,会产生这种不愉快的感觉,即suffer from the green-eyed monster。

空前“Art allows children to understand the world and express themselves in a creative way.”以及后文指出“And there is no right or wrong in every art piece. The child's opinion and feeling will be unique”,这里讲艺术作品没有对错,想法都是独特的。
62.空前指出“Children who take part in performance classes get the chance to speak in front of people who they don’t know.”,孩子有机会在陌生人面前表达。
64.空前指出“Children who learn new musical instruments know how hard it is to achieve progress.”,学习乐器取得进步很难。
65.空后指出“They become responsible for their mistakes.”,本段主题是责任感。
66.highly 67.social 68.standard 69.whenever 70.recognize
根据后文“is good at communicating with different people”并结合备选词可知,这里讲社交方面的能力。
根据“sets a high…for herself”并结合备选词可知,固定搭配set a high standard for oneself意为“为自己设定高标准”,符合语境,应填standard。
根据前后分句“she sees others in trouble”与“she will give a hand at once”的逻辑并结合备选词可知,此处表达无论何时、每当;whenever引导时间状语从句,表示“每当,无论什么时候”,符合语境。
71.to deal 72.stressed 73.communicating 74.Don’t doubt 75.knows 76.decision 77.have made 78.wisely 79.is refused 80.disappointed
固定搭配“疑问词+动词不定式”, how to deal with 意为“如何应对”。故填to deal。
句中的时间状语so far是现在完成时的标志,现在完成时结构为“have/has+过去分词”,主语是you,应填have made。

Drummer (鼓手) Boy
I got new drums for my 16th birthday. There’s a cool music group at school. Their drummer, Lucas, is leaving, because his family is moving to another place. The group asked if I’d try out and Lucas will teach me. But I’m not sure if I’m good enough. I don’t want to get my hopes up and be upset if I don’t make it.

Adults never understand anything on their own, and it is tiring for children to be always and forever explaining things to them. So then I chose another job and learned to fly planes. I lived my life alone, with no one I could really talk to, until I had an accident with my plane in the Sahara desert six years ago. Something was wrong with my plane. As I had nobody else with me, I decided to try the difficult repairs all alone.
The first night, I slept on the sand, far away from people’s living places. I felt quite lonely. You can imagine my surprise, at sunrise, when a strange little voice woke me up. It said, “If you please, draw me a sheep!”
“What?” I shouted, jumping to my feet, completely surprised. I looked carefully all around me. I saw a special small person standing there, looking at me seriously. He was hardly taller than a rosebush.
Before I could speak, he repeated, “Draw me a sheep!”
I had never drawn a sheep before, but I was so surprised and lonely that I did as he asked. I drew a simple sheep, but he shook his head. I tried many times, but he was not happy. Soon I grew tired. “I don’t know how to draw sheep any more,” I said, handing him a piece of paper with nothing on it. “Here’s a box. The sheep you want is inside it.”
To my surprise, his face lit up, “That’s just what I need! Does it eat a lot of grass?”
“Of course. Why do you ask?”
“Because where I live, everything is very small. I need a sheep that won’t eat all my roses.”
Roses. The word made me think of the time I was six. I found a book named True Stories from Nature, and there was a picture of a huge snake swallowing (吞咽) an elephant. I showed it to adults and asked if it made them afraid. They said they weren’t afraid of the hat. I explained it was a huge snake with an elephant inside. But they told me to stop talking about snakes and elephants. They said I should focus on my spelling and maths. That’s when I realized adults never see the true meaning of things. I put away my drawing and decided not to explain anything to them any more.
The little prince pulled me back to the present, “Will you promise the sheep won’t eat my roses?” “I promise,” I said. And in that moment, I knew I had finally found someone I could talk to.

Green is an important color in nature. It is the color of grass and the leaves on trees. It is also the color of most growing plants.
Sometimes, the word green means young, fresh and growing. Sometimes, it describes something that is not yet ripe or finished.
For example, a greenhorn is someone who has no experience, and who is new to a situation. In the 15th century, a greenhorn was a young cow or ox whose horns (角) had not yet developed. A century or so later, a greenhorn was a soldier who had not yet had any experience in battle (战役). By the eighteenth century, a greenhorn had the meaning it has today—a person who is new in a job. Someone who has the ability to grow plants well is said to have a green thumb. The expression comes from the early 1900s.
A person with a green thumb seems to have a magic touch that makes plants grow quickly and well. You might say that the woman next door has a green thumb if her garden continues to grow long after your plants have died.
Green is also the color used to describe the powerful emotion, jealousy (嫉妒). The green-eyed monster is not a frightening creature from outer space. It describes the unpleasant feeling that a person has when someone has something that he wants. A young man may suffer from the green-eyed monster if his girlfriend begins going out with someone else.
