C
It is easy to be worried about the future of our planet. Forests are disappearing. Water cycles are breaking down. Pollution is harming cities. But I am still a little bit hopeful about our planet’s future.
Nature is making a comeback in many places. Even in the worst landscapes, nature is developing and regaining its own land. Wolves are moving across Europe and there are more tigers in India. I am not saying we should stop worrying about losing biodiversity (生物多样性), but the good news is that nature isn’t so fragile. And in many parts of the world, we are giving it more room to do its thing. For example, farmers are returning land to nature in some areas.
The population is getting smaller. We used to think a continuing baby boom (生育高峰) was a danger to the planet. But today, couples are having half as many children as half a century ago. In fact, the fear in much of the world is that the population is becoming smaller.
Our modern world depends less on materials. This century, the UK’s consumption (消耗) of materials has fallen from 16 tonnes a year per head to 11 tonnes. Why? We make much more with less by using modern ways of producing goods. And today’s wealthy people spend less money on materials and more on lifestyle experiences: eating out, taking exercise, attending concerts and so on.
I agree that the worst could still happen. To avoid it, we have no choice but to act. And that means staying positive.
31. How does the writer explain people’s worries about the planet in paragraph 1?
A. By telling stories. B. By offering advice.
C. By describing facts. D. By comparing ideas.
32. What does the underlined word “fragile” probably mean in paragraph 2?
A. Active. B. Light. C. Weak. D. Quiet.
33. According to the passage, today’s wealthy people may spend more money ________.
A. doing sports B. buying clothes
C. producing goods D. holding concerts
34. What is the passage mainly about?
A. How we can protect our future planet. B. How we can control population growth.
C. Why we should reduce the use of materials. D. Why we should stay hopeful about the earth.
35. What’s the structure of the passage?
A. ①/②③④/⑤ B. ①②/③④/⑤
C. ①/②③/④⑤ D. ①②③/④/⑤
31. C 32. C 33. A 34. D 35. A

While England’s Stonehenge is known for its mysterious stone circle, there is an even older place in Türkiye, called Göbekli Tepe. It is thought to be the world's oldest temple, built around 12,000 years ago — about 6,000 years before Stonehenge.
Göbekli Tepe was discovered in the 1960s. It is made up of several big round spaces built with huge T-shaped stone blocks. Many of these blocks are cut with pictures of animals such as foxes, snakes, lions, and wild pigs. Unlike Stonehenge, these stones were not moved from far away; they were shaped directly from the nearby hills.
What amazes experts most is that Göbekli Tepe was built by hunter-gatherers (狩猎采集者) — people who did not yet farm or live in cities. This changes the old idea that large places to honor ancestors were only built after farming began. Göbekli Tepe makes us rethink history. Maybe building such places brought people together, which later led to farming.
The purpose of Göbekli Tepe remains unknown, just like Stonehenge. Some think it was an important place, used for special events, burials, or watching the sky. Others believe it was a meeting place for different groups to trade and tell stories.
Today, Göbekli Tepe is a protected World Heritage Site. It helps us rethink human history and shows that ancient people were more skilled and organized than we once believed. The site reminds us that human societies could achieve great things through cooperation long before the rise of cities or kingdoms.
36. What makes Göbekli Tepe special compared to Stonehenge?
A. It is a temple from England. B. It was built 6,000 years ago.
C. It is older than Stonehenge. D. It was built with huge stones.
37. What was a possible use of Göbekli Tepe according to the passage?
A. A hunting ground. B. A tourist site for visitors.
C. A palace for a king. D. A religious meeting place.
38. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To explain how ancient people moved and shaped huge stones.
B. To argue that Göbekli Tepe is more important than Stonehenge.
C. To describe a mysterious ancient site and its historical importance.
D. To encourage tourists to visit Türkiye's protected World Heritage Site.
39. When was Göbekli Tepe discovered?
A. Around 12,000 years ago. B. In the 1960s.
C. 6,000 years before Stonehenge. D. Long after farming began.
40. Which of the following is TRUE?
A. Hunter-gatherers were able to work together to finish big projects.
B. People have known the exact use of Göbekli Tepe for many years.
C. The stone blocks of Göbekli Tepe were transported from faraway places.
D. Large religious buildings could only appear after cities came into being.
C 37. D 38. C 39. B 40. A

forced(被迫)、refused(拒绝)、ordered(被命令)都和Lele热爱乒乓球的背景矛盾。
so(所以)表因果,or(或者)表选择,if(如果)表条件,均不符合转折关系。
根据后文“It was a trophy that Grandpa had won”,爷爷拿出一个奖杯给他。 chance(机会)、lesson(教训,课程)、promise(承诺),和奖杯这个实物不匹配。
Thank you, Grandpa!”。 clearly(清楚地)、seriously(严肃地)、quietly(安静地),无法呼应感叹句的情绪。
if(是否)带有疑问含义;when(何时)、what(什么)需要在从句中充当成分,不符合本句结构。
angry(生气的)、tired(疲惫的)、surprised(惊讶的),和依赖奖杯求好运的语境不符。
空格引导从句修饰bench,从句he could see it描述长椅的位置作用。 why(为何)表原因,what(什么)指代事物,when(何时)表时间,和地点语境无关。
surprised(惊讶的)、worried(担忧的)、weak(虚弱的),均为消极或突兀情绪。
根据上文“he couldn't see the trophy”,奖杯看不见了。 got off(下车)、gave up(放弃)、turned on(打开),和寻找物品的语境无关。
arguing(争吵)、explaining(解释)、questioning(提问),不符合加油的行为。
根据后文“It was there all the time!”,奖杯一直在长椅下面。 painted(绘画)、made(制作)、sold(售卖),语义不通。
new(新的)、expensive(昂贵的)、heavy(沉重的),文中没有相关提示。
应选用hard,表示“艰难的”,normal(正常的)、simple(简单的)、correct(正确的),和句意逻辑冲突。
应选用but,表对比转折,but not意为“而不是”。so(所以)表结果,and(并且)表并列,for(因为)表原因,均不匹配这个对比结构。
应选用give up,表示“放弃”,never give up“永不放弃”,贴合主旨。wake up(醒来)、show up(露面)、pick up(捡起),和面对困难的语境不匹配。

A. ①/②③④/⑤ B. ①②/③④/⑤
C. ①/②③/④⑤ D. ①②③/④/⑤
D
