An amazing stay at the Ocean View Hotelreception
I'm usually sad to say goodbye to my cousins after visiting them in
Australia. But last June I wasn't. We had to change planes in the Middle
East on the way back and had to spend the night in a hotel. I just
couldn't wait to get to our hotel.
The first thing I noticed in the hotel was all the glass. It was really bright, so I don't know why all the lights were on in the building! There was also loud rock music playing, which I loved (but my parents didn't)! There weren't many people waiting at the reception, so we were soon in our rooms.
The garden wasn't what I expected. ‘Dad,’ I said, ‘you told me there was a pool!’ He took me back into the reception area and then up in the lift to the 39th floor and out onto the top of the building. ‘Here it is,’ he said. It was amazing! Swimming under the clouds was fantastic.
I stayed in some great hotels around the world, but nothing as cool as that one! I saw photos of it before I went, but they don't really show how large the building is. I couldn't believe it. Everything is huge – the building, the pool, the meals (which were delicious, too, by the way)! There's so much to do and see there. I hope we can go back again and stay for longer!
24.How did the writer feel last June after visiting her cousins?
A. Excited. B. Unhappy. C. Worried. D.Surprised
25.Where was the hotel's pool?
A. In the hotel garden. B. On the top of the hotel.
C. Close to the hotel's reception area. D. Behind the hotel dining hall
26. What did the writer like about the hotel?
① the amazing pool ②the large building ③the delicious meals ④the coffee shop
A. ①②③ B. ①③④ C. ②③④ D. ①②④
27. What is the main purpose(目的)of this text?
A. To give advice on planning a trip.
B. To share an unforgettable personal experience.
C. To compare the hotel with others around the world.
D. To introduce rules in a great hotel

Want to know what your friends are really like? Take a look at their music playlist (音乐播放列表).
More than 36 000 people, from all over the world, took part in an experiment (实验). It
compared their personalities with how much they liked different musical styles. The results show that personalities really affect what we listen to. Here's what certain musical styles say about who you are.
Rock
Like the sound of loud guitars and heavy drum beats? This type of music sounds very exciting, but fans of it are often quite gentle.
Country music
Do you like cowboy(牛仔)hats and guitars? Do you sing when you see them? Then you might be a hard-working person. You probably also like traditional things a lot.
Jazz
Fans of this strong music are always creative and are good at learning. If you like the saxophone of John Coltrane, then you're probably self-confident (自信的) and easy to get on with.
Classical music
Do you like Beethoven and Mozart? Would you like to turn up the music when you listen to their works? Then you're probably quiet, but happy with who you are and comfortable with the world around you.
However, the experiment doesn't tell you everything. Besides the experiment, your hometown, your friends, and your personal stories also play a part in your music taste. This is why your pick of songs makes you different from others. But remember, music is for everyone. That's why listening to different styles helps you experience new cultures. So, the best idea is to have fun and try new music!
28.What affects our musical taste according to the experiment?
A. Friends. B. Instruments. C. Hobbies. D. Personalities.
29. Vincent is a creative boy who is good at learning. What kind of music does he probably like?
A. Rock. B. Jazz. C. Classical music. D. Country music
30.What might be the writer's advice for us at the end of the text?
A. Changing our personalities.
B. Doing experiments with our friends.
C. Trying to listen to different kinds of music.
D. Only listen to your favourite music.
31.Which is the best title(标题)for the text?
A. Your Playlist, Your Personality
B. How to Choose Your Favorite Songs
C. Music and Cultures Around the World
D. Great Musicians in History

When it comes to travel, sightseeing will come to our mind first. Nowadays, many people care about more than seeing something new and beautiful, and experiencing something special matters a lot when they are travelling. Here are some new ways to travel. They can bring people special experiences.
Military-style (特种兵式) travel is one of the most popular travel ways among Chinese college students. They spend a little money traveling to as many places and try as much delicious food as they can, without having enough rest or sleep. For example, a young man called Nan Duoduo climbed the Five Great Mountains in China within only five days.
Reverse (反向的) travel is another popular travel way among young Chinese travelers. “A man moved one meter every ten minutes on Mount Huangshan” became a hot topic on the Internet during last year's National Day holiday. More and more people don’t want to go to those famous places on holiday because they are too crowded. They like to spend their free time in less popular places to make themselves relaxed. They even choose to take a trip to snow mountains in hot summer.
Seal (印章)-collecting travel means tourists collect seals while traveling. People usually collect seals from places of interest, shops, and other places. Every time you open your collection, it brings back beautiful and unforgettable moments. What's more, it brings much special meaning to little kids. In children's eyes, the seals they collected are like the prizes they got. That helps build a sense of pride.

My best friend and I
My best friend is Mike. We often study and play together.
Mike and I have many differences. Mike is taller than me. In fact, he is even the tallest in our class. He is also more outgoing than me. But my eating habits are healthier than his. He often eats junk food, but I never eat it.
However, we are similar to each other in some ways. We share the same interests like playing basketball and travelling. This summer vacation, we took a trip to Beijing by plane together. We visited the Great Wall and tasted local delicious food like Beijing roast duck.
Mike is my true friend. I don’t mind if he is different from or similar to me. We respect each other’s differences and learn from each other. Also, we are always ready to help each other by lending a hand.
