You are walking down the street. Suddenly it starts to rain and you don’t have an umbrella. What do you do? Run or walk?
Most people would rather run because it will get you out of the rain faster. But if you run, you also run into more raindrops. So, what should you do?
Things are more complicated (复杂的) than you might think. Franco Bocci, a professor (教授) at the University of Brescia in Italy, found that whether you should travel slowly or quickly in the rain depends on the wind direction and your body shape, according to the BBC.
When there is no wind, and the rain lands directly on you, Bocci suggests that you should run and hide as fast as possible. But if the wind comes from behind and blows the rain onto your back, the best thing to do is to walk at the same speed (速度) as the wind. This way, both your front and back will stay mostly dry.
This is not all. When the wind blows in from the side, you’ll have to think about one more thing—your body shape. Thinner people are hit by fewer raindrops. In this case, a fatter person had better run while a thinner person should still try to match their speed to the wind.
“In general, the best thing is to run, as fast as you can—not always, but in general,” Bocci told BBC News. “If you’re really thin, it’s more probable that there will be a best speed. If not, it is better to run fast.”
Now you know what to do next time the rain catches you in the middle of the street. But the best way to stay dry is still to carry an umbrella.

We humans have homes. Most animals have homes, too. Some animals live under the ground. The woodchuck (土拨鼠) lives in the holes under the ground. His home has two doors. If someone comes in through one door, he will go out through the other door. Some birds live in the holes in the trees. They come out for food during the day and go back to sleep at night. But most birds live in the trees. It’s very interesting that turtles (龟) usually carry their homes on their backs. Bees always work hard to make their homes. Cats, dogs and some other pets live in people’s homes. And we can see many kinds of animals in the zoo, so the zoo is also home to animals.
Every animal’s nest (巢穴) fits its own life. Nature gives each animal its own clever way to make a home.

Sometimes we get some “surprises” on our phones. For example, after you mark a song as a favourite on a music app, it recommends songs of the same kind to you. In fact, this magic, mind-reading recommendation depends on data.
Data (数据) is no longer only about numbers, but information about almost every part of life: where we go, what we do and what we like and dislike.
Big Data makes life easier. The smart traffic system in Los Angeles is a good example. It collects real-time traffic data and controls (控制) 4,500 traffic lights in the system. A supermarket named Tesco will recommend products to their customers on its website after knowing their shopping habits. Its app on a mobile phone even guides customers around supermarkets to find what they want.
However, Big Data causes serious problems about how we protect our privacy (隐私). We should learn to protect our privacy in the Big Data Age.
What we should do is to make the best use of it.
A.Though there are bad sides, Big Data is helpful in people’s lives in some ways.
B.You can search everything in the Big Data Age.
C.All this is called Big Data.
D.If an accident happens, the system will change the lights near there to control the traffic.
E.It can also give advice on what they may like to buy.

Every Friday afternoon, we have a math club. I love it because we do fun, tricky problems, not just easy homework. Our teacher Mr. Li says math is 36 just numbers. It is also about thinking and finding rules.
Today, we worked on a special number game. We got a row of numbers: 2, 5, 11, 23, 47… We needed to find the next one. At first, I felt 37 . The numbers did not go up by the same step. I tried many ways. Then I 38 a rule: each number times two plus one makes the next. I was so excited when I found it.
Next, we did a puzzle about shapes. We used small squares to make big rectangles. We had to 39 how many different rectangles we could make with 12 small squares. Some classmates only found two or three, but I found six. Mr. Li smiled and said I was good at 40 all possible answers.
He told us a good math thinker will not give up quickly. When a problem looks too hard, you can try small examples first. Do not jump to guess the answer. You need to write down your steps and 41 them again. Sometimes you make a silly mistake, and that is okay. Mistakes help us see where our thinking is 42 .
We also played a logic game. Three students, Tom, Amy and Jack, each had one fruit: apple, orange, banana. Tom did not take the apple. Amy did not take the orange or the apple. So we could know Amy got the banana, then work out the rest. It felt like solving a secret 43 .
Before the club ended, Mr. Li gave us a homework puzzle. If you add the first ten odd numbers together, what will you get? He said there is a fast way, and you do not need to add one by one. I 44 the hint carefully. I remembered the sum of the first n odd numbers is n × n. Wow, that saved lots of time.
I used to think hard math was boring. Now I know it is like a 45 . Every problem is a door. If you think patiently, you can open it. It does not matter if you are slow. The 46 thing is to keep trying and learn new ways of thinking.
Many of my classmates are afraid of difficult math problems. They think only clever kids can do them. But Mr. Li often says “clever” mostly comes from practice. The more tricky problems you try, the 47 your brain becomes. You do not need to get every question right. You need to learn how to 48 .
When the bell rang, I packed my notebook. On the way home, I kept thinking about the number rule we found today. I even tried to make my own number sequence for my dad to 49 . He could not find the rule at once, and I felt proud.
Math club is my favourite time of the week. It teaches me that thinking slowly and carefully is more important than getting a 50 answer fast.

28.文中“But most birds live in the trees.”
29.文中“It’s very interesting that turtles (龟) usually carry their homes on their backs.”

根据文中“we should learn to protect our privacy in the Big Data Age”这一信息,结合生活实际,从谨慎对待个人信息、不随意泄露等角度合理作答即可,要求语句通顺、语法正确、字数符合要求。

根据后句“It is also about thinking and finding rules.”

The Beauty of Wildlife
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing today to ask for your help in protecting wild animals.
My favourite wild animal is the panda because it is lovely and unique. However, their number is getting smaller. First, we should stop buying things made from wild animals. Second, we are supposed to plant more trees to offer them living places. It is necessary to protect them because animals are human beings’ friends. They keep the balance of nature. Without them, our environment will be in danger. If we don’t protect them, we will lose them forever.
Let’s work together to make the world better for all living things.
With kind thanks,
Li Hua
