looked after(照顾)、woken up(叫醒)、waited for(等待)与尴尬心理不符。
waving(挥手)、shouting(喊叫)、nodding(点头)动作不合逻辑。
cold(冰冷的)、loud(大声的)、sharp(尖锐的)语气不符合助人场景。

sadly(伤心)、angrily(生气)、impatiently(不耐烦),都和好心路人的人设矛盾。
decision(决定)、doubt(怀疑)、interest(兴趣)与点头动作含义不符。
根据“helped me stand up”可知防止再次摔倒,即保持平衡(balance)。way(路,方法)、mind(头脑)、confidence(信心)与站立动作无关。
pulled(拉)、watched(观看)、questioned(质疑)不符合感恩语境。
根据后文提到“three kind strangers showed me that kindness has never disappeared”,说明人们常说世界变得越来越“冷漠(colder)”。younger(更年轻)、healthier(更健康)、kinder(更友善)无法构成转折。

A wildlife bridge in Shenzhen, the Kunpeng Trail No.1 Bridge (鲲鹏径一号桥), has caught worldwide attention because of its creative and eco-friendly design.
This special bridge connects two mountains that were divided by a highway many years ago. Before the bridge was built, wild animals faced the risk of being hit by speeding vehicles when they tried to cross the road. To offer a safe migration (迁徙) passage for wild animals, Shenzhen built this eco-friendly bridge. Only one-tenth of the bridge deck (桥面) is designed for human use. In order to create a forest-like environment, the rest is left for use by small animals like leopard cats with many kinds of local plants grown on it. Soft lighting is also provided so that human activities will not trouble wild animals.
Soon after it was completed in December 2023, cameras captured leopard cats and other wild animals crossing safely. On February 3, 2026, a spokesperson shared this eco-bridge on social media. He considered it as a perfect example of how humans and nature can live peacefully.

The first time I heard opera, I was 8 or 9 years old. I remember standing at the top of my grandmother’s basement stairs when her voice rose to meet me from where she was practising below. I was deeply touched by it.
As a child, I took violin lessons, but found it boring to practise by myself. I loved the sound of human voice, so I wanted to sing with others. This led to years of voice lessons and singing in an opera chorus (合唱团). Sometimes, I sang alone on the stage and even dreamed of becoming a jazz singer in the future, but I always returned to the classical practice in the end.
After university, family duties meant I seldom performed. Singing became something I did with and for my children. I remember singing at a friend’s wedding, holding my 10-month-old daughter, who mimicked (模仿) my sound with her small voice-a moment that filled my heart. Finally, my singing stopped, lost in the busyness of life.
I realized how much I missed it when my daughter was a teenager and started to show her talent in singing. We sang together at the piano, expressive, free and relaxed. She tried to get the lead roles in musical shows. But after she moved to other places, our voices left the house.
Now, I work for Vancouver Opera to make my heart feel happy. I recently took a voice lesson after years of silence. It set all my feelings free, bringing me to tears. Slowly, breath by breath, I am welcoming back my own voice.

B. Because her daughter preferred musicals to violins.
C. Because she felt lonely when practising by herself.
D. Because she wanted to learn jazz from her grandma.
28. Why did the writer stop singing after university?
A. She was busy with family work. B. She failed in her opera performances.
C. Her daughter moved away from home. D. She lost interest in music little by little.
29. What made the writer realize she missed singing?
A. Her new job at Vancouver Opera. B. Her teenage daughter’s love for singing.
C. Her grandma’s opera practice in the basement. D. The wedding performance with her baby daughter.
30. What is the main idea of the text?
A. The introduction to the art of opera.

C
You might put on weight during exams. Do you want to know why? A study has found the answer: long-term pressure can make people put on weight.
In the study, Chinese scientists used mice to study the effects of pressure. One group of mice swam for 15 minutes every day. The scientists also changed their light and dark schedule. This made the mice feel like they were in a new place. It was similar to jet lag (时差反应) for humans. The other group had a schedule as usual. These mice had 12 hours of light and12 hours of darkness each day.
The results showed that long- term pressure can slowly hurt the cells (细胞). The cells have tiny parts called lipid droplets, also known as LDs (脂滴). LDs store fat and move to these broken parts of the cells to stop the hurt from getting worse. At the same time, a protein (蛋白质) enters the LDs to help keep the fat inside unchanging. When pressure continues, more of the protein moves into the LDs and makes them bigger. More fat then builds up inside the cells. This can lead to weight going up and other health problems.
According to EurekAlert, antioxidants (抗氧化剂) may help with these problems in animals. Some antioxidants have also been tested in humans. However, they may not be safe to use for a long time. There is no perfect antioxidant medicine yet. So, dealing with pressure and living a healthy life are important.
31. What did scientists do to make the first group of mice under pressure?
A. Scientists gave them much fat to eat.
B. Scientists kept them in total darkness all day.
C. Scientists changed light- dark time and let them swim daily.
D. Scientists put them together with another group of mice.
32. What do lipid droplets (LDs) do at first when cells are hurt?
A. They break down fat inside cells. B. They produce more protein quickly.
C. They make cells store more fat right away. D. They move to broken areas to stop the hurt getting worse.
33. Why do cells build up more fat if pressure lasts?
A. More protein enters LDs and makes LDs larger.
B. Antioxidants enter the cells and store fat.
C. The mice eat more food under pressure.
D. The dark schedule makes fat easy to grow.
34. What suggestion does the writer give us?
A. Keep changing our light and dark schedule. B. Try our best to deal with stress and live healthily.
C. Take antioxidants as much as possible. D. Swim for 15 minutes every day.
35. What is the best title for the passage?
A. How to choose antioxidants B. Mice help us learn about healthy sleep
C. A new way to lose weight quickly D. Why pressure may make us put on weight
C 32. D 33. A 34. B 35. D

This wildlife bridge provides a useful way for major cities worldwide. It shows that we can protect the environment while developing modern cities. Following its success, two more similar wildlife bridges have been built in Shenzhen. Many other Chinese cities are learning from this project to create wildlife-friendly cities, showing China’s efforts in environmental protection.

26. What happened when the writer was about 8 or 9 years old?
A. She began to practise playing the violin.
B. She began to take voice lessons in a chorus.

A. Because her grandma asked her to learn opera.
B. The writer’s journey back to her love of singing.
C. Good ways for parents to develop kids’ interest in music.
D. The great influence of grandmothers on children’s hobbies.
