A.an art magazine B.a sports newspaper C.a health report D.a school magazine Mr. Zhou’s room is crowded but never untidy. On the shelves, there are boxes of screws, old handles, three kinds of glue and a jar of buttons. He can tell you the story of every object in the room—where it came from and what it was used for. A broken lamp on the top shelf, for example, was left by a family who moved away in 2009; he keeps it because “the switch is still the best one I have ever seen”. He does not advertise. People find him because a neighbor says, “Go and see Mr. Zhou.” He repairs umbrellas, kettles (水壶), wooden chairs, zips and toys. For children he asks nothing: a repaired toy is “payment enough”, he says. For adults he asks a small price for the parts. Once I asked him why he did not throw broken things away and buy new ones. He put down his screwdriver (螺丝刀) and said, “New things are cheap now. But when you repair something, you have to understand how it works. That is the part I like.” Last year, our neighborhood asked him to move to a bigger shop near the gate. He said that a shop with a big window would be nice, but that he would have to learn the names of a hundred new neighbors, and he was too old for that. He refused. “If I move,” he said, “the old people will have to walk further, and the children will not come.” His door has no sign. Everyone in the block knows which one it is. I think that is the best address in our neighborhood. 1.What can we learn about Mr. Zhou’s room? A.It is next to the gate of the neighborhood. B.It is full of things but kept in good order. C.It is a shop with a big sign. D.It has been empty for thirty years. 2.What does Mr. Zhou mean by “a repaired toy is payment enough”? A.Toys are more useful than money. B.Children should pay him with toys. C.He only repairs toys, not other things. D.He does not ask children for money when he repairs their toys. 3.Why did Mr. Zhou refuse to move to a bigger shop? A.He wanted to stay close to the old people and the children. B.He could not pay the higher price. C.He did not like the new neighborhood. D.The bigger shop was too far from his home. 4.What does the writer think of Mr. Zhou? A.He is a strange man who keeps useless things. B.He should have moved to a bigger shop. C.He is the person the neighborhood cannot do without. D.He should ask children for more money. In choosing a friend, one should be very careful. A good friend can help you study. You can have fun together and make each other happy. Sometimes you will meet fair-weather friends. They will be with you as long as you have money or luck, but when you are down, they will run away. How do I know when I have found a good friend? I look for certain qualities of character, especially understanding, honesty and reliability (可信度). Above all else, I look for understanding in a friend. A good friend tries to understand how another person is feeling. He is not quick to judge. Instead, he tries to learn from others. He puts himself in the other person’s place, and he tries to think of ways to be helpful. He is also a good listener. At the same time, however, a good friend is honest. He does not look for faults in others. He notices their good points. In short, a good friend will try to understand me and accept me. Another quality of a good friend is reliability. I can always depend on a good friend. If he tells me he will meet me somewhere at a certain time, I can be sure that he will be there. If I need help, he will do his best to help me. If I am in trouble, he will not run away from me. There is a fourth quality that makes a friend special. A special friend is someone with whom we can have fun. We should enjoy our lives, and we should enjoy our friendship. That is why I especially like friends who are fun to be with. A good friend likes the same things I like. We share experience and learn from each other. A good friend has a good sense of humor, too. He likes to laugh with me. That is how we share in the joy of being friends. And I know that he is looking for the same quality in me. 1.The underlined words “fair-weather friends” in Paragraph 1 most probably mean ________. A.有钱的朋友 B.酒肉朋友 C.信任的朋友 D.诚实的朋友 2.Which of the following qualities does the writer think is the most important in choosing a friend? A.Understanding. B.Honesty. C.Reliability. D.A sense of humor. 3.This passage mainly discusses ________. A.the qualities of a good friend B.where to choose good friends C.how to get along with good friends D.the importance of having a good friend 4.In which unit of a textbook can the text be found? A.Unit 1 Sense of Humor B.Unit 2 Being Successful C.Unit 3 Making Friends D.Unit 4 The Importance of Honesty ①Are you an “I” person or an “E” person? We hear this question a lot these days. In general, an “I” person is shy (腼腆害羞的) and silent, while an “E” person is talkative and outgoing (健谈外向的). In fact, they are two different types of personality (个性) in the MBTI test. The test helps people better understand what they would like to be or do and then how they should work with the world under the influence (影响) of personality. Then, let’s have a look at how to take the test and why it is so popular now. ②When you take the MBTI test, you will meet some sets of questions. They are about your behaviours, thoughts, likes, dislikes and so on. For each question, you need to choose the answer that best shows and goes with your feelings and attitudes (态度). Then you’ll know what your personality type is. ③In many situations (情况) like problem solving, team building and so on, the MBTI test is widely used. Why is it so popular? ④First, people want to understand themselves better. Human personality is very complex (复杂的), and this test offers a simple way for people to learn about themselves. ⑤Next, taking the MBTI test is relaxing and fun, because its questions are interesting. ⑥Last but not least, the MBTI test may show something we don’t know about ourselves and can be a fun way to help us make new friends. 1.How does the writer start the passage? A.By listing numbers. B.By giving an example. C.By asking a question. 2.If Mark is an “I” person, which of the following may he enjoy most? A.Having parties often. B.Reading alone in the library. C.Making many new friends. 3.According to the passage, the MBTI test ________. A.helps people change their personality types B.helps people be happier and healthier C.helps people understand their personalities better 4.What is the main purpose of the passage? A.To show the differences between “I” and “E” people. B.To explain how to solve problems by using the MBTI test. C.To introduce the MBTI test and its popularity. 5.What’s the structure (结构) of the passage? A. B. C. ①Have you ever heard about someone described as “conscientious (勤勉认真的)”? It is a special quality that helps people succeed in school, work, and relationships. But what does it really mean? ②Conscientious students finish homework early, follow rules carefully, and never give up when things get hard. They are responsible and often help others without being asked. ③One key part of this quality is perseverance. Life is full of challenges, and sometimes we want to give up. However, experts say that sticking with a task, even in small steps, is very important. Child psychologist (儿童心理学家) Laura Gwilt explains, “When you keep going instead of giving up, you show yourself that effort matters.” ④Another important step is making plans and keeping them. Maybe you plan to join a new club or study every day after school. If you stick to these plans, you prove that you are excellent. This shows your teachers, family, and friends that they can trust you. Being trustworthy is a key skill for your future. ⑤In short, being conscientious is about having a strong will and a clear mind. By staying active, overcoming difficulties, and keeping your promises, you can become a person others admire. 1.What do conscientious students do when things get hard? A.They never give up. (Paragraph 1=①, ... ) A. B. C. D. During the National Day holiday, many people want to find “dazi” —that is, activity partners—on some apps for travelling. Finding dazi is a new way of social contact (社会交往) for young people. The idea of this activity is easy to understand. It helps people to find someone who has the same interests as them and it doesn’t take much time. With one or some dazi, people have more fun in the activities they are interested in. Ge Jinyuan is a high school student from Shandong. She likes talking with her meal dazi when she is having lunch. “We love to share our ideas on the food,” said the girl. “If my meal dazi doesn’t come to school one day, I will be unhappy.” “It takes a lot of time to make friends with others. But it doesn’t take much time to have a dazi,” said Shi Zhimin, a student from Shanxi. Ge also has the same idea. She doesn’t want to spend too much time making friends, so having a dazi is good for her. She can feel relaxed and then have more time to study. Having dazi is usually helpful but it can be dangerous sometimes. People may lie about themselves on the internet. For example, a young and beautiful girl on the internet may be an old, short and heavy man in real life. So think twice when looking for dazi. 1.What does the underlined word “dazi” in Paragraph 1 refer to (指代)? A.Activity partners. B.Travel apps. C.Social contact. A.They have no friends. B.They like having a dazi. C.They are from the same place. D.They don’t do well in their study. 5.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage? A. B. C. D. Although “no” is a very little word, it is not always easy to say it. But not doing so often causes trouble. So sometimes learn to say “no” to some requests. When we are asked to waste time on our way to school and so be late, we should say “no”. When we are asked to interrupt (打扰) our teacher and the class, we should say “no”. When we are asked to stay away from school and be naughty when we should study, we should say “no” at once. When someone asks us to give them a ride when we ride a bike, we should say, “No, I can’t do that, because it’s not safe for both of us.” When someone does something wrong, and they want us to cover it with lies, we should say, “No, I cannot tell a lie, because it is wrong.” If we are asked to do anything that we know is wrong, we should not be afraid to say “no”. If we are asked to do things that are not helpful to us, we should think about what is right for us at that time. Saying no in these situations can be difficult at first, but after you do that, you’ll realize how easy it actually is. You’ll get more time for yourself, to study and do other important things. Of course, it’s necessary for you to say “no” in a polite way that best meets your needs. 1.What does the underlined word “requests” mean in paragraph 1? A.Invitations to events. B.Answers to questions. C.Advice on the problems. D.Things that people ask for. 2.In which of the following situations should we say “no” according to the passage? D.When someone asks us to play while we are hurrying to school. 3.When we learn to say “no”, it will ________. A.help us be more polite B.make us seem stronger C.give us more time for ourselves D.make us more popular with others 4.What is the best structure of the passage? A. B. C. D. Last week, we had a football match, and we lost. We all played well but one team member. He refused to pass the ball to other members! I was angry about what he did. What should I do? 45 likes Lingling Reply I know how it feels because I am on the basketball team. I once had a similar problem with my teammates. I think it was really bad when your team member did not try his best. As we all know, football is a team sport, so no one can win alone. You should tell him teamwork is important. If you play, play well. Try to talk to him calmly instead of arguing. 25 likes Ms Li Reply I understand why you were angry with your teammate. A successful team needs everyone’s hard work. Next time in the same situation, try to talk with your team member. What’s more, always remember: think first. When filled with anger, you would say whatever comes to your mind. Bad words are easy to say but hard to take back. And you might hurt others and break your team’s friendship. 30 likes 1.Why did Tony post the message on the Internet? A.To share a story. Cassandra Naud was born with a brown birthmark under her right eye. It covers a large part of her face. Her parents were given a chance to remove the birthmark right after her birth. But they were worried that it might be dangerous for her, so they refused it. Cassandra experienced a hard childhood in primary school. Her schoolmates often laughed at her. She was heartbroken about what they said and had to cry in corners. She was even afraid of how she would be treated when she went to high school. At the age of 13 she took an important decision to have her birthmark removed. Her parents were surprised at that but they respected her decision. They immediately invited a great doctor to operate on her. But the doctor said that she might face the risk of being left with a lazy eye (弱视眼). So she finally decided to keep her birthmark. Cassandra dreamed of being an excellent dancer. She realised that the birthmark would make her more memorable and popular among the dancers. From then on, she began to love her birthmark, instead of trying to hide it, and she also learnt to face the world with bright smiles. 1.What do we know about Cassandra Naud’s birthmark? A.It is under her left eye. B.It isn’t able to be removed. C.It is dangerous to be removed. 2.What does the underlined word “heartbroken” in Paragraph 2 mean? A.Happy. B.Sad. C.Her parents didn’t allow her to do the operation. 4.What can we learn from the passage? A.We shouldn’t take risks. B.We shouldn’t care about our appearance. C.We should learn to find out the pleasant side of a bad thing. You may not realise it, but you are doing much more than just studying when you are at school. School is also the place where you learn to get on well with people. But this is not always easy. What can you do if you just don’t like one of your classmates? If you find that you have problems getting on with your classmates or friends, the most important thing to learn is tolerance (宽容). Tolerance is the ability to realise and respect one another’s differences. We cannot change the way that other people do things, so it is important to learn to live happily with them. Tolerance will make everyone get on well with each other. Getting to know someone may help you understand why they do things differently. Something different does not exactly mean that it is bad. Tolerance teaches us to keep temperate and open-minded. As an old saying goes, “Treat others how you want to be treated.” If you tolerate something, it does not mean that you have to like it. No one is asking you to change who you are or what you believe in. Tolerance just means that you should respect one another’s differences and not try to change them. It is important to practise tolerance because it will make everyone’s life easier. Learn to accept different abilities and interests of others. The world is very different, and practising tolerance in your own school and city can help make a difference. 1.From the first paragraph we know that ________ at school. A.what’s important to a student B.what students should do at home C.how to treat people different from us D.how to get others to do things in the right way Have you ever heard of Zhang Heng? He was an ancient Chinese scientist. He lived during the Han Dynasty, more than 1,800 years ago, in what is now Nanyang, Henan. At that time, people watched stars to learn about the sky, but this method was not always reliable. For example, on cloudy nights, the stars would be hidden behind thick clouds. So it was hard for them to watch and study the movement of stars. Besides, people knew little about earthquakes. When an earthquake happened far away, people in the capital could not get news quickly. While watching the stars and thinking about natural changes, Zhang Heng wondered if he could create tools to help people. After many experiments, he invented two great tools. One was the seismoscope (候风地动仪). It could tell people the direction of an earthquake and helped people get earthquake news quickly. The other was a water-powered armillary sphere (浑天仪). It could show the movement of stars. The two tools were very useful. The seismoscope helped people know where an earthquake took place. The armillary sphere helped people study stars even without clear skies. ________ That’s why people think he is one of the greatest inventors in Chinese history. 1.Who invented the seismoscope and water-powered armillary sphere according to the passage? A.An inventor in the Tang Dynasty. B.Explorers travelling in the sea. C.Zhang Heng, an ancient Chinese scientist. D.A star watcher from Nanyang. 2.What does the underlined word “reliable” in Paragraph 2 mean? A.Dangerous. B.Believable. C.Surprising. D.Beautiful. 3.What could the seismoscope do? D.It could map the movement of stars by itself. 4.Which of the following can be put in ________ in the last paragraph? A.Zhang Heng helped people a lot with his inventions. B.Zhang Heng travelled far to explore new lands. C.Zhang Heng taught people how to read star maps. D.Zhang Heng stopped studying earthquakes later. 5.What is the main purpose of this passage? A.To talk about how to use a seismoscope. B.To discuss the history of Chinese trade. C.To compare ancient and modern tools. D.To introduce Zhang Heng’s inventions and their importance. Bees are important in nature. But can a little bee make a big difference to our life? Maybe yes! Now there are flying robots that look like real bees—BionicBee (仿生蜜蜂). Scientists created them by learning how real bees fly. These robots fly by moving their wings. A small motor (电机) inside makes the wings move quickly up and down. This helps the robots rise into the air. With the help of AI, these robots can also turn and fly in different directions. They can help us in many ways. After earthquakes (地震), people may get trapped (被困) under buildings. Rescuers (救援者) can’t go inside narrow (狭窄的) spaces to search for them, but BionicBee can. With cameras (相机), the bees take photos and send them back to rescuers. The photos show where the trapped people are, so they can get help faster. BionicBee can help farmers too. When there are not enough real bees, these robots can help pollinate (授粉) flowers. This helps plants grow better and make farmers’ work easier. After finishing their work, the robots can even find their way back on their own. However, there is still a long way to go for the robots. ____▲____ Usually, a larger battery carries more energy. It can help BionicBee fly longer, but its weight makes BionicBee fly harder. Scientists are now working on the problem. They plan to use sunlight to charge (充电) the batteries. Whenever there is sunlight, the batteries can get energy again. With this new way, the BionicBee will bring us more surprises in the future. 1.What makes BionicBee move its wings? A.A camera. B.AI arm. C.A small motor. D.A real bee’s help. 2.What can BionicBee do according to the passage? ① Make a call to the rescuers. ② Search for people in narrow spaces. ③ Water the flowers on their own. ④ Help farmers pollinate flowers. A.②④ B.②③ C.①② D.①④ 3.Which sentence can be put in ____▲____? A.The battery size affects their looks. B.Large batteries can make them fly higher. C.The battery size affects their flying time. D.Small batteries can make them fly faster. 4.What can we infer from the passage? A.BionicBee doesn’t need batteries to work. B.BionicBee can create more energy for people. C.BionicBee can work for a long time in the future. D.BionicBee can find the way back home by themselves. Copying Nature A Swiss engineer (工程师) named George de Mestral loved walking in the countryside. One day in 1941, he came home with his socks covered in burrs (苍耳), the seeds of a wild plant. As he pulled them off, he wondered why they stuck (粘住) so tightly. Under a microscope (显微镜), he saw that each burr had hundreds of tiny hooks (钩子). That gave him an idea. He made two strips of fabric (织物)—one with hooks and one with loops—and called his invention Velcro. Today it is used on shoes, bags and even spacesuits. Velcro is only one example of copying nature. Scientists call this idea biomimicry: looking at how living things solve problems, and then doing the same thing with human materials. Sharks are among the fastest swimmers in the sea, but their skin is not smooth—it is covered with tiny tooth-like scales (鳞片). These scales make the water move faster over the skin, so sharks can slide through it with less effort. Copying this design, engineers made a special swimsuit fabric that helps swimmers cut through the water. It worked so well that the suit was later banned (禁用) from Olympic races. Another famous example comes from Japan. The Shinkansen, one of the world’s fastest bullet trains, used to make a loud bang when it entered a tunnel (隧道). A young engineer who was a bird-watcher studied the kingfisher (翠鸟). This small bird dives into water to catch fish without a splash, because its long, pointed beak changes the air around it smoothly. The engineer redesigned (重新设计) the train’s nose to copy the kingfisher’s beak. The new train is not only quieter but also faster and uses less electricity. Nature has had millions of years to test its inventions. As one scientist put it, “Why start from nothing when the answer is already swimming, flying or growing beside us?” 1.What is the article mainly about? A.How animals protect themselves. B.How scientists learn from nature. C.Why engineers like travelling. D.How trains and planes are built. 2.The underlined word “biomimicry” in Paragraph 2 is closest in meaning to ________. A.copying nature’s ideas B.growing new plants C.protecting wild animals D.making tiny hooks 3.Why was the special swimsuit banned from Olympic races? A.It was too expensive. B.It made swimmers tired. C.It was bad for sharks. D.It gave swimmers too much help. 4.What is special about the Shinkansen’s new nose? A.It was designed by a bird-watcher’s father. B.It makes the train much slower. C.It copied the shape of a kingfisher’s beak. D.It uses more electricity than before. Sammie Vance, 14, knows there is nothing worse than feeling left out. For years, she has been helping kids who feel lonely make friends. What she was doing was running the Buddy Bench (伙伴长椅) program. She started it when she was in the third grade, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The idea was that anyone at school who was feeling lonely could sit on the “buddy bench”. That let other kids know someone needed a friend. “It’s really helpful to have other people be able to notice you,” Sammie says. The idea quickly caught on. The bench brought kids together. Since then, Sammie has helped communities all over the country set up buddy benches. “It means a lot to me, she says, “and this is making a difference in people’s lives.” Sammie got the idea for the Buddy Bench program at summer camp in 2017. She thought it would be cool to have a buddy bench in her school, so she presented the idea to her principal, her teachers, and her parents. Getting approval (批准) for the project was just the first step. “There have been a lot of small challenges, like money.” Sammie says. To reduce costs and be eco-friendly, she asked her community to collect bottle caps. Soon Sammie was getting caps from people in 50 states. She even got them from people in Germany, the Netherlands, and other countries. In the end, she collected more than 1,200 pounds of bottle caps. A company was able to make these into three benches. Sammie says the effort has helped her overcome personal challenges. “I used to be really, really shy,” she says. “I’m much more outgoing now.” What Sammie’s work shows is that we don’t have to be an adult to make a difference. Even small acts of kindness can be powerful. She says, “Just be kind.” 1.What’s the purpose of the Buddy Bench program? A.To raise money for sick children. B.To help lonely children make friends. C.To offer old people a seat to have a rest. D.To remind others to save our environment. 2.Which paragraphs tell us how Sammie built a bench in her school? A.Paragraphs 2-3 B.Paragraphs 3-5 C.Paragraphs 4-6 D.Paragraphs 5-6 3.Sammie’s benches are made out of ________. A.recycled materials B.eco-friendly bottles C.wood collected in the world D.old benches of a company 4.What can we learn from Sammie’s story? A.It’s easy to become more outgoing. 【答案】1.B 2.D 3.A 4.C 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,主要讲述了周先生修理物品的故事,核心对象是周先生及其修理铺,核心结论是他乐于助人且深受邻里喜爱,行文探讨了他保留旧物、免费修玩具及拒绝搬店的原因。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段中“Mr. Zhou’s room is crowded but never untidy.”可知,房间虽然拥挤但从不凌乱,说明物品多但摆放有序。 2.词句猜测题。根据第二段中“For children he asks nothing: a repaired toy is ‘payment enough’”可知,他对孩子不索取任何东西,修好玩具就是报酬,意味着不收钱。 3.细节理解题。根据第四段中“If I move... the old people will have to walk further, and the children will not come.”可知,他担心搬走后老人和孩子不便,说明想留在原地方便邻里。 4.观点态度题。根据第四段中“I think that is the best address in our neighborhood.”可知,作者认为这是社区最好的地址,隐含了对周先生高度认可及尊重的态度。 In choosing a friend, one should be very careful. A.When someone invites us to do sports on school days. B.When someone asks us to be quiet in the school library. C.When someone asks us to ride bikes to go home after school. D.When someone asks us to play while we are hurrying to school. 3.When we learn to say “no”, it will ________. A.help us be more polite B.make us seem stronger C.give us more time for ourselves D.make us more popular with others 4.What is the best structure of the passage? A. B. C. D. 【答案】1.D 2.D 3.C 4.D 【导语】本文是说明文,围绕“学会对不当请求说‘不’”展开,介绍了多种需要说“不”的场景,说明了说“不”的益处,同时提醒人们要以礼貌的方式说“不”。 1.词句猜测题。根据文章第1段“So sometimes learn to say ‘no’ to some requests.”,结合后文多处“他人要求做某事时应说‘不’”的场景描述,可推知该词指人们提出的“要求、请求”。 2.推理判断题。根据文章第2段“When we are asked to waste time on our way to school and so be late, we should say ‘no’.”,赶去上学时被邀约玩耍属于浪费时间、会导致上学迟到的情况,因此该场景下我们应该说“不”。 3.细节理解题。根据文章第4段“You’ll get more time for yourself, to study and do other important things.”,可知学会说“不”会给我们带来更多属于自己的时间。 4.篇章结构题。文章第1段总起,提出要学会对部分请求说“不”的核心观点;第2、3段为并列分述,分别列举不同类型的需要说“不”的场景;第4段总结全文,说明说“不”的好处并强调要礼貌说“不”,全文为总分总结构,对应选项D的图示。 Tony shared his experience on the website. From then on, she began to love her birthmark, instead of trying to hide it, and she also learnt to face the world with bright smiles.”,她发现胎记这件不好的事情也有好的一面,学会接纳它,乐观生活。A、B不符合文章主旨。 You may not realise it, but you are doing much more than just studying when you are at school. 第二段提到:“A small motor (电机) inside makes the wings move quickly up and down.”这说明是小型电机让仿生蜜蜂的翅膀扇动。 2.细节理解题。第三段提到:“Rescuers (救援者) can’t go inside narrow (狭窄的) spaces to search for them, but BionicBee can.”,第四段提到:“these robots can help pollinate (授粉) flowers.”说明仿生蜜蜂可以在狭小空间搜寻被困人员、帮助农民给花授粉,对应②④。 3.推理判断题。空格后文提到:“Usually, a larger battery carries more energy. 【答案】1.B 2.A 3.D 4.C 【导语】本文介绍了科学家和工程师通过观察自然(如苍耳、鲨鱼皮、翠鸟)来发明创造的仿生学应用。 1.主旨大意题。 第二段指出“Scientists call this idea biomimicry: looking at how living things solve problems, and then doing the same thing with human materials.”,随后几段列举了鲨鱼皮和新干线等例子,文章主要讲科学家如何向大自然学习。 2.词句猜测题。 第二段“looking at how living things solve problems, and then doing the same thing with human materials”解释了biomimicry的含义,即观察生物如何解决问题,然后用人类材料做同样的事,即copying nature’s ideas。 3.细节理解题。 第三段“Copying this design, engineers made a special swimsuit fabric that helps swimmers cut through the water. B.It’s kind to make a bench for children. C.It’s never too young to make a difference. D.It’s hard to overcome personal challenges. 5.What’s the best title for the passage?
