Here are some practical ways to help you navigate through this challenging yet memorable period. Talk It Out and Get Moving Don’t keep your worries to yourself. Regularly share your feelings with your teachers, parents, and friends. Sometimes, just talking about what’s bothering you can make a burden feel lighter. They might offer helpful advice or a fresh perspective. Besides, physical activity is a powerful stress reliever. You don’t need intense workouts; even a 20-minute brisk walk, a short run, or some stretching can clear your mind and boost your mood by releasing endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals . Tune into Music and Lose Yourself in a Book Create a playlist of your favorite calming or uplifting songs. Listening to music can effectively relax your mind and reduce anxiety. Another great escape is reading. Getting into a good book, whether it’s fiction or non-fiction, can transport you to another world, giving your brain a necessary break from textbooks and exams. Redefine Your Approach to Study Instead of just memorizing words mechanically or burying yourself in a sea of test papers without reviewing mistakes, try more efficient methods. For instance, use association or context to remember vocabulary, and always analyze the reasons for your errors in exercises, keeping a dedicated notebook for them. Remember, the goal is deep understanding, not just the appearance of being busy. Additional Tips from Fellow Students Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle: Ensure you get enough sleep and eat a balanced diet. A healthy body is the foundation for a healthy mind and better stress management. Develop a Hobby: Spend a little time on a non-academic hobby you enjoy, like drawing, writing, or even gardening. C Qin Xiaoya, a virtual figure playing a young female role in Qinqiang Opera, has caught people’s attention since it made its debut (首次登台) in an art festival in Xi’ an, capital of Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province. The design team employed 3D modeling to copy the original clothes and accessories (配饰) of the virtual actress. “To make her true to life, we went to great effort to reproduce her gestures and decorations with the real voice of the opera performer,” said Zhang Xi, a team member. Qinqiang Opera, a Chinese folk opera originating in the Western Zhou Dynasty (1046 BC-771BC), continues to thrive in a vast region of Northwest China and was added to the country’s intangible cultural heritage list in 2006. As a newcomer to this ancient art, Qin Xiaoya demonstrates a youthful image. In a music video for the Ninth China Qinqiang Opera Arts Festival held in June, she performed Qinqiang Opera remixed with rock’ n’ roll, fueling the interest of young people. “Though creating such a figure is not easy, we made the expression of this character accurate and vivid, by using high standard technological methods” Zhang said. “We hope to make her a spokesperson for Qinqiang Opera art and make related cartoons, movies and other diversified products in the future,” said Zhang, adding that they are developing more functions for the virtual figure, who is expected to interact with citizens via livestreaming. The technology that is applied into the opera can also be found among cinematic techniques. Tapping her fingers to the rhythm of the music and singing along with actors, Xiao Jie, a 59-year-old opera fan, enjoys a 3D Qinqiang Opera film Three Drops of Blood. Regarded as a masterpiece in Qinqiang Opera, Three Drops of Blood, created in 1918 and deeply critical of pedantic bureaucrats (迂腐的官僚主义) in feudal society, has been often frequented by fans over the past century. “I watched a black-and-white film of the opera when I was young. At this time, watching it in a3D form is truly intriguing. The 3D film make the centuries-old art take on a new look — we can have a closer and clearer look at the performance,” said Xiao. Chinese operas have long historical ties to movies, for example, the first movie in China, The Battle of Dingjunshan, screened in 1905, was adapted from clips from Peking Opera. 46. The author mentions Qin Xiaoya at the beginning of the passage to introduce ______. A. a new real performer of Qinqiang Opera. B. the application of technology in the art of Qinqiang Opera. C. the origin of Qinqiang Opera. D. the relationship between Qinqiang Opera and movies. 47. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage? A. Qin Xiaoya is a figure from Western Zhou Dynasty. B. Qinqiang Opera originates in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. C. Qin Xiaoya’s performance in June combined Qin Opera with rock music. D. Qin Xiaoya shows the image of a middle-aged person. 48. What does the underlined word “diversified” in Paragraph 6 mean? A. various B. appealing C. elegant D. tasteless 49. What can be inferred from Xiao Jie? A. He finds the rhythm of the film hard to follow. B. He thinks the theme of the passage should be critical. C. He is totally intrigued by the 3D film. D. He suggests audience to appear in 3D cinema frequently. 50. What is the main idea of the passage? A. Technology elements in Qinqiang opera are welcomed by senior fans. B. Qinqiang opera is adapted from Peking Opera. C. Qinqiang opera is a bond between the old and the young. D. Technology makes Qinqiang opera show a new look. D It’s common to hear that being “emotional” is the opposite of being “rational(理性的)”. For many people, there is no place for emotion in rational thinking. However, some recent work from our lab suggests the opposite. We found that individuals who score higher on tests of intelligence and rationality don’t ignore emotions. Instead, they pay more attention to emotions and are better at recognizing and understanding emotions. This is because most intelligent decision-making requires emotional information. Emotions tell us what we want, and we can’t make smart decisions without first knowing what our goals are. For example, as a mother, if I want to make my children happy, and I know they like video games, it would make sense for me to buy them a video game. But, if I instead want them to stay focused on homework, then it wouldn’t make sense for me to buy them the video game. You can see from this example that a rational decision can’t be made unless I know multiple pieces of emotional information. Anticipating others’ emotions may help us be more effective leaders-allowing us to predict the way people will respond to what we say or do. Anticipating our own emotions can also make for much more effective long-term decisions. For example, if I predict I will feel anxious before giving a public speech, I might be motivated to practice a few more times. If I instead simply suppressed (压抑) or ignored my anxiety, chances are that I’d be more distracted on stage, and my speech wouldn’t go as smoothly. Of course, it’s important to identify situations where emotional influences may not be helpful as well. Here, individuals who score higher on rationality tests may be better at reflecting on whether an emotion will be helpful or not in a given situation. They can then make their decision after giving it more thorough consideration. For example, expressing too much anger or sadness to your boss when you don’t get a promotion may not be in your best interest. In general, if we want to be rational and make the best decisions, we should desire as much information as we can get and information about emotions can often be especially useful. 51. What is a general belief of emotions and rationality? A. Rationality can enhance emotional intelligence. B. Emotions contribute to rational decision-making. C. They play conflicting roles in thinking processes. D. Rationality is more important than emotions in decision-making. 52. Why does the author mention the example in Paragraph 3? A. To demonstrate the process of decision-making. B. To expose the harm of ignorance of emotions. C. To draw the line between rationality and emotions. D. To show the importance of emotional information. 53. What should be done to make the best of emotions according to Paragraph 5? A. Recognition of their usefulness.  B. Reflection on the potential impact. C. Completion of the rationality tests.  D. Identification of diverse situations. 54. What does the author suggest for making wise decisions? A. Acquiring adequate information.   B. Prioritizing rationality. C. Trusting immediate feelings.   D. Seeking expert advice. 55. What is the best title for this passage? A. How to Control Emotions for Better Decision-Making B. The Role of Emotions in Effective Leadership C. Why Ignoring Emotions Leads to Smarter Decisions D. At this time, watching it in a3D form is truly intriguing. The 3D film make the centuries-old art take on a new look — we can have a closer and clearer look at the performance,” said Xiao. 根据第一段中“It’s common to hear that being “emotional” is the opposite of being “rational(理性的)”. For many people, there is no place for emotion in rational thinking.(人们常说“情绪化”与“理性”是相对的。 根据第三段中“You can see from this example that a rational decision can’t be made unless I know multiple pieces of emotional information.(从这个例子可以看出,除非我了解多条情绪信息,否则无法做出理性的决定。)”以及第二段结尾“Emotions tell us what we want, and we can’t make smart decisions without first knowing what our goals are.( 情绪告诉我们自己想要什么,而如果我们不清楚自己的目标,就无法做出明智的决定。)” 根据第五段中“Here, individuals who score higher on rationality tests may be better at reflecting on whether an emotion will be helpful or not in a given situation. They can then make their decision after giving it more thorough consideration.(在这里,在理性测试中得分较高的人可能更善于反思一种情绪在特定情况下是否有益。 根据最后一段“In general, if we want to be rational and make the best decisions, we should desire as much information as we can get and information about emotions can often be especially useful.( 总的来说,如果我们希望保持理性并做出最佳决策,就应该尽可能多地获取信息,而关于情绪的信息往往尤其有用。)” 56.
