When I was ten, my family adopted a small dog from an animal center. The center told us that he was found in the rain one cold night. He was thin and quiet, with big brown eyes and dirty white hair. We named him Doudou. In the car, he sat in his little box and looked at us without a sound.
On the first night, Doudou cried in the corner of the living room. The new house was strange to him. I got up twice, talked to him softly and put my hand near his box. The second time, he stopped crying and fell asleep with his nose against my fingers.
The next few weeks were not always easy. Doudou carried my slippers all over the house and once knocked over Mom’s favorite cup. He also liked to hide behind the curtains, and we could only find him by his wagging tail. Mom was not happy about the cup, but she never thought of sending him away. “He is just a baby,” she said. “He needs time to learn.”
Slowly, Doudou learned the rules of the house. He learned where his food bowl was, where to sleep, and how to sit when we asked him to. When we say “Doudou, dinner!”, he runs to the kitchen faster than anything in the world. Every morning, he waits at the door with his tail moving like a little flag, ready for his morning walk.
Now Doudou is two years old, strong and shiny. He walks with me to the street corner every morning, and he is always the first to hear my steps in the afternoon. When I feel sad, he puts his head on my knee and looks at me with those big brown eyes, as if to say, “It’s OK. I am here.”
Some people say a dog is just a pet. But for me, Doudou is a friend and a warm little star of our family. Adopting him was one of the best decisions we have ever made.
21.What was Doudou like when the family first saw him?
A.Thin and quiet.
B.Strong and shiny.
C.Loud and naughty.
D.Old and slow.
22.What did the writer do on the first night?
A.She sent him back to the center.
B.She closed her door and slept.
C.She gave him a big dinner.
D.She stayed near his box.
23.What does the underlined word “adopted” in Paragraph 1 probably mean?
A.Bought from a pet shop.
B.Picked up on the road.
C.Took him home as family.
D.Kept him for only a short time.
24.What can we learn about Mom?
A.She sent the dog away after the accident.
B.She was patient with the little dog.
C.She never let the dog into the house.
D.She only liked quiet dogs.
25.What is the best title for the passage?
A.A Night at the Animal Center B.How to Feed a Dog
C.Doudou, More Than a Pet D.My Favorite Animal Center
C
A new term means new subjects, more homework and busy days. Many students start the week with good plans, but by Wednesday everything is in a mess. If this sounds like you, a good study plan can help. Making one is easier than you think — just follow the steps below.
First, write everything down. Lessons, homework, club time and even rest — put them all on paper or on your phone. When nothing hides in your head, your mind becomes clear, and you will not forget important tasks. It also feels great to cross things off the list one by one.
Second, give the hardest subject your best hours. If you think most clearly in the morning, do math or English then, and leave easier jobs for the afternoon or evening when your energy is lower. A plan that fits you is a plan that works.
Third, cut big tasks into small ones. “Read twenty pages a day” sounds much easier than “finish a thick book”, and small wins keep you moving forward. Don’t forget short breaks, either — a ten-minute walk or a stretch by the window helps your brain come back strong.
Finally, look at your plan every Sunday evening. Ask yourself two questions: What went well this week? What took too long? Then move things around and begin the new week with a clear map. A five-minute check on Sunday makes Monday much easier.
Remember, a plan is not a cage. When something special comes up — a friend’s visit, a sunny afternoon — enjoy it, and catch up later. A good plan does not make you busy; it makes you free.
26.What does the writer tell us to do first?
A.Buying a new phone.
B.Writing everything down.
C.Doing math first.
D.Asking teachers for help.
27.What should you do if you think most clearly in the morning?
A.Do the hardest subject then.
B.Sleep more in the morning.
C.Do easy jobs first.
D.Have a big breakfast.
28.What does the writer think about big tasks?
A.They are more interesting.
B.They should be cut into small ones.
C.They are impossible to finish.
D.They need no plan.
29.What does the underlined phrase “catch up” in Paragraph 6 mean?
A.Fall behind others.
B.Give up the plan.
C.Make up for the lost time.
D.Run after a bus.
30.What is the best title for the passage?
A.How to Plan Your Study B.Why Mornings Are the Best
C.The Best Time for Rest D.Never Enjoy Your Weekends
D
Long lines and the smell of rice — the canteen is the busiest place in our school at noon. This term, some big changes have come to it. In the past, students often took more food than they could eat, and many trays came back half full. Nobody likes to see good food thrown away. To stop the waste, the canteen has made three changes.
First, the bowls now come in two sizes, so students can choose a small one when they are not very hungry or want to try more dishes. Second, the cooks have added more vegetable dishes, which makes healthy choices easier. Third, there is a new half-price line: you pay half the price and get half the food — just right for a small appetite.
The changes are working. The trays coming back are much cleaner than before, and the cooks can now plan the day’s food better. “I used to leave rice every day,” says Lu Yao from Class 5. “Now I just take less, and I still feel full.” Another student says the small bowl is just right for her.
Stopping food waste is about more than money. Every bowl of rice takes water, land and months of hard work. Next month, the school will start a clean plate week, with small gifts for classes that finish their food. The canteen is a small place, but it is teaching us something big.
31.What problem did the canteen have in the past?
A.Students took too much food.
B.The food was too expensive.
C.There were no vegetables.
D.The bowls were too small.
32.What can you do at the new half-price line?
A.Eat for free.
B.Get food without waiting.
C.Pay half, get half.
D.Buy one bowl and get one free.
33.What does the underlined phrase “clean plate” probably mean?
A.Washing your plate yourself.
B.Leaving no food.
C.Buying cleaner plates.
D.Sharing your plate with friends.
34.What can we learn from Lu Yao’s words?
A.He still leaves rice every day.
B.He takes less now.
C.He doesn’t eat in the canteen now.
D.He thinks the changes are bad.
35.What is the passage mainly about?
A.How to Cook Rice Well B.New Rules about School Phones

A.They are more interesting.
B.They should be cut into small ones.

【答案】例文:
My Favorite Hobby
Everyone has a hobby, and drawing is mine. I fell in love with it in primary school, when my art teacher showed my picture of a cat to the whole class. From then on, a pencil and a piece of paper became my best friends.
In my free time, I draw almost every day. Sometimes I copy the pictures in my art books; sometimes I draw what I see around me — tall trees in the park, or breakfast on the table. Drawing makes me calm and happy after a busy school day, and it helps me see the small beauty of everyday life.
Next term, I am going to learn Chinese painting with my cousin. I will try brushes and ink, and maybe one day I can draw my family in the old style. I am sure this hobby will grow with me.
