1. 词汇跟读：跟读并记忆下列单词（注意划线部分的读音）。

2. 短语速记连线：将左栏英文与右栏中文配对（写序号）。

3. 语言小贴士（考点归纳）。

① as + 形容词/副词原级 + as + 主语 + can/could = as ... as possible，意为“尽可能……”：remember as many names and faces as they could。

② while 引导让步状语从句，意为“虽然；尽管”，放在句首引出通常的看法，主句再作对比：While you might think that these competitors were all born with a strong memory, this is often not true.

③ be born with 意为“天生具有”：these competitors were all born with a strong memory（be born in/on 则表示“出生于某地/某时”）。

④ make full use of 意为“充分利用”：he makes full use of memory techniques。

⑤ stand for 意为“代表；象征”：each letter in HOMES stands for a different lake。

⑥ what 引导宾语从句，what 在从句中作主语；is called 为被动语态：use what is called a “memory palace” to remember things。

⑦ 现在分词短语作后置定语，相当于定语从句：sports competitions using our bodies / using our minds（= that use our bodies / minds）。

⑧ just as 引导方式状语从句，意为“正如”，前后形成类比：Just as there are sports competitions using our bodies, there are also sports competitions using our minds.

⑨ be terrible at 意为“很不擅长”，be good at 意为“擅长”，二者构成对比：most people are terrible at remembering lists, they are quite good at remembering where things are.

⑩ all you need to do is (to) do sth. 意为“你只需要做某事”（不定式作表语，to 可省略）：all you need to do is to remember the picture。

⑪ on the other hand 意为“另一方面”；give sth. a try 意为“试一试某物”。

⑫ such as 多用于列举同类事物（后接名词或名词短语）；for example / for instance 多用于举例说明，常作插入语。
