　　It is the first Monday of September, and Lingling walks into No. 1 Junior High School with a new schoolbag. Everything is new: the tall gates, the red running track, and the big characters “Welcome to junior high” on the wall. Her heart beats fast, like a little drum. / In Class 2, Grade 7, the students sit in pairs. A girl with two braids smiles at Lingling. “Hello, I am Meimei. Is this your first day too?” “Yes,” Lingling answers. “I do not know anybody here.” “Now you know me,” Meimei says, and her smile is warm like the morning sun. / Mr Gao, the class teacher, gives everyone a card. “Please write down one wish for the new term,” he says. Some students write about good grades. Some write about new friends. Lingling thinks for a long time, and then she writes: “I want to speak English bravely in front of everyone.” Mr Gao reads the cards and says,
