Animals are people’s friends. However, many wild animals are facing the danger of dying out, 51 the environment (环境) where they are living has changed greatly. 52 example, their living area has become smaller and smaller because of the development of cities and pollution (污染). They have no room to live in except zoos. And many of the wild animals now can’t find enough food to eat. At 53 same time, people kill animals just for their skin, teeth and meat. 54 (thousand) of kinds of animals have disappeared from the earth forever. Hundreds more are on the danger list today. About 170 kinds of animals in the United States alone are considered in danger. We should tell more people about these animals’ stories 55 (make) them care about wildlife.
Every animal has 56 (it) place in the balance of nature. Destroying one kind of animal can create many problems. People should realize how 57 (seriously) the situation is and something should be done to protect the animals. We are supposed to set up some nature reserves (自然保护区) so that animals can live 58 (safe). If we don’t take action, the situation will be more and more serious.
We are not alone on Earth. We human beings could not live without all the plants and animals around us. So 59 (protect) wild animals is very important. Do you like doing chores? What do you think of doing chores? A new study tells us that doing chores is good for children.
Some students from an Australian school took part in this study. 200 parents and their children aged 5 to 13 took part in the research. Parents needed to answer two questions: How many chores their kids did every day, and whether their children finished the chores carefully.
Tepper and her team did this study. The result shows that chores such as cooking and cleaning are very good for children. “Children who often cook food or clean rooms can finish difficult tasks better,” Tepper said. The study also finds that doing chores helps children learn to think carefully before taking action.
The study has some interesting numbers: 70% of girls make their own beds, while only 50% of boys do this work. However, 66% of boys take out the rubbish, while just 43% of girls do this work. So, girls are more willing to do some kinds of chores, and boys are more willing to do other kinds of housework.
Tepper and her team were pleased with the results. Meanwhile, Tepper points out that kids may feel bored with some chores. So parents need to find fun ways for children to do housework. For example, some kids love cooking, and others prefer cleaning. Parents can ask their children which chores they would like to do.
“Chores are not always boring!” Tepper says. “Choose the chores your children enjoy. They will have fun and learn a lot from them. When kids do chores, they learn to help family members and look after themselves. These skills are very important for their future life. Therefore, let children try different chores and find their favourite ones.”
31.How many parents took part in the research?
A.20. B.100. C.120. D.200.
32.Who did the study about doing chores?
A.Tepper and her team. B.A school in Australia. C.100 students. D.Some teachers.
33.What is Tepper’s advice for parents?
A.Making children do difficult chores first. B.Finding chores that children enjoy doing.
C.Letting children do all the chores at home. D.Giving children money for doing chores.
34.What does the underlined word “They” in the last paragraph refer to?
A.The parents. B.The chores. C.The children. D.The teachers.
