二、阅读理解
(本题7.5分)Tired of the same old drink? Try some new recipes approved by seasoned barista (咖啡师) that are unofficially on the menu. If you are searching for a new flavor combination or a unique drink order, this is for you.
Cinnamon Dolce Vanilla Shaken Espresso
This drink is special because while it’s not necessarily made from holiday syrups, the taste reminds me of winter flavors. If you like the Horchata flavor introduced this summer, you’ll definitely love this! Bonus: this can be ordered year round since it does not contain seasonal syrups.
Sugar Cookie Mocha Frappuccino
If you have a sweet tooth, this one is for you. The Sugar Cookie Mocha Frappuccino is a perfect blend of icy and sweet, providing a nice sugar rush for anyone looking for a sweet treat.
Iced Strawberry Matcha (抹茶)
Not a big coffee person? I have the perfect solution. As a matcha lover and defender, I love to find ways to spice up my matchas. Now, a strawberry matcha normally isn’t considered a winter drink, but my personal motto is that a matcha is perfect for any time of the year.
These drinks are super fun twists on the beloved holiday drinks. If you need to use up your Dining Dollars before the end of the semester, try one of these. You just might find your new favorite order!
21.(2.5分)What makes Cinnamon Dolce Vanilla Shaken Espresso special?
A.It is made from holiday syrups. B.It can be ordered only in winter.
C.It has a taste of winter flavors. D.It was introduced in summer.
22.(2.5分)Which drink might be suitable for people who have a fondness for sweets?
A.Cinnamon Dolce Vanilla Shaken Espresso
B.Sugar Cookie Mocha Frappuccino

D.The Horchata flavor drink
23.(2.5分)Where is the passage most probably taken from?
A.A coffee recipe. B.A travel guidebook.
C.A fashion magazine. D.A campus website.
There’s always one nonexistent friend in the group chat, loitering in the background, whose contribution to the chat remains minimal, if not extinct. That friend is me.
As long as I can remember having a phone, I’ve been a terrible replier. The phrase “Sorry I missed this” became my go-to line. When a new group chat is created, the members will always come to laugh at my inability to respond to a simple question within hours.
But I’m not terrible at replying to everyone. I pride myself on quick responses to work emails, my manager, and my mom — she even says, “I feel privileged to be on my daughter’s quick list.” To friends, I say, “Call me instead.” They know if it’s urgent, I’ll pick up right away. But if I mark a message as “non-urgent,” it’s a different story.
Group chats are even harder: conversations move so fast that missing just five minutes means I’m behind on 67 messages about parties, movies or dates. Once, I set aside 15 minutes to respond to friends’ texts. But by the time I responded, they had messaged back. And I filed those new messages as non-urgent again. All of this was like message quicksand.
Recently, I asked Billy about my bad texting. He’s that one friend you can always rely on to give you the non-sugarcoated truth: “You take 3-5 days to reply if we’re lucky.” Ouch — but probably not wrong. Then he added, “But you always show up, never cancel, and drive 40 minutes to see us.”
Now I think about our group roles — the chatty one, the caller, the non-responder. All contribute and express love in different ways.
As I write this article, I wonder if my terrible texting could be a sign of my old age? Or I’m just bad at replying to messages? There’s a lot to think about — and I can promise you this thinking will take my attention away from the 219 messages I haven’t answered yet.
24.(0分)What can be inferred about the author as a responder from paragraphs 2 and 3?
A.She feels stressed to reply. B.She puts the vital first.
C.She prefers calling to texting. D.She fails to reply to friends.
25.What does the underlined word “quicksand” in paragraph 4 refer to?
A.A list often ignored. B.An endless cycle.
C.A game of rapid replies. D.A tool for classification.
26.Why does the author mention Billy in paragraph 5?
A.To show her friends are tolerant. B.To stress she’s made efforts in texting.
C.To prove her texting habit causes problems. D.To show her texting doesn’t hurt her friendship.
27.What is the author’s tone?
A.Humorous. B.Formal. C.Doubtful. D.Concerned.
(本题10分)Scientists have long been studying the brain with a goal of aiding healthier aging. While much is known about risk factors in speeding up brain aging, less has been uncovered to identify ways to reduce cognitive (认知的) decline. There is evidence that nutrition matters, and a new study shows specific nutrients (营养物质) may play a vital role in the healthy aging of the brain.
The team of scientists from the University of Illinois, led by Aron Barbey, enrolled 100 volunteers aged between 65 and 75, looking for connections between certain diets and slower brain aging.
These participants completed a questionnaire with measures of physical fitness. Blood sample was collected to analyze the nutrient biological markers: a more scientific evidence for what these elderly individuals were eating and drinking. Participants also underwent cognitive assessments and brain imaging.
Analysis of this large set of measures revealed two types of brain aging among the participants - accelerated (加速的) and slower-than-expected. Those with slower brain aging had distinct nutrient biological markers. It was associated with nutrient intake similar to what you would get from the Mediterranean diet, which emphasizes plant-based foods, healthy fats, and minimally processed ingredients, offering numerous health benefits.
Barbey noted that previous research on nutrition and brain aging has mostly relied on food frequency questionnaires, which are dependent on participants’ own recall. This study is one of the first and the largest to combine brain imaging, blood biological markers and cognitive assessments. “This allows us to build a robust understanding of the relationship between these factors. We move beyond simply measuring cognitive performance with traditional psychological tests,” Barbey says.
The researchers will continue to explore the nutrient biological markers investigated in this study as it relates to healthy brain aging. Barbey said it’s possible, in the future, that the findings will aid in developing therapies and interventions to promote brain health. It’s possible that simple adjusts to what we eat could help cut down the risk of diseases like Alzheimer’s.
28.(2.5分)What is the main focus of the new study?
A.The biological process of brain aging. B.The risk factors in stimulating brain aging.
C.The impact of healthy brain aging on the senior. D.The potential effect of nutrients on brain aging.
29.(2.5分)How did the scientists analyze the participants’ nutrient intake?
A.By testing their blood samples. B.By taking cognitive assessments.
C.By tracking their dietary habits. D.By doing psychological tests.
30.(2.5分)Which is closest in meaning to the underlined word “robust” in paragraph 5?
A.Abstract. B.Solid. C.Rough. D.Variable.
31.(2.5分)What is expected of the future research?
A.It will provide valuable insights into the Mediterranean diet.
B.It will develop a new assessment standard for brain health.
C.It will recommend a fiber-rich diet to promote healthier brain aging.
D.It will contribute to preventing and treating certain brain diseases.
(本题10分)Caffeine has long been linked to potential health benefits, including reducing the risk of age-related diseases. But, until now, how it works inside our cells, and what exactly its connection with nutrient and stress responsive gene and protein networks is have remained a mystery. In a new research on fission yeast (裂殖酵母), a single-celled organism surprisingly similar to human cells, researchers found that caffeine affects aging by employing an ancient cellular energy system.
A few years ago, the same research team found that caffeine helps cells live longer by acting on a growth regulator called Target of Rapamycin (TOR). TOR is a biological switch that tells cells when to grow, based on how much food and energy is available. This switch has been controlling energy and stress responses in living things for over 500 million years.
But in their latest study, the scientists made a surprising discovery: Caffeine doesn’t act on this growth switch directly. Instead, it works by activating another important system called AMPK, a cellular fuel gauge (能量监测器) that is evolutionarily conserved in yeast and humans.
“When your cells are low on energy, AMPK kicks in to help them cope.” explains Dr Charalampos, the study’s senior author. “Importantly, our results show that caffeine helps turn on that switch.”
Using their yeast model, the researchers showed that caffeine’s effect on AMPK influences how cells grow, repair their DNA, and respond to stress — all of which are tied to aging and disease.
“These findings help explain why caffeine might be beneficial to health and longevity (长寿),” said Dr. John-Patrick, a postdoctoral research scientist leading this study. “And they open up exciting possibilities for future research into how we might flip these effects more directly — with diet, lifestyle, or new medicines.”
So, the next time you reach for your coffee, you might be doing more than just boosting your focus — you could also be giving your cells a helping hand.
32.(2.5分)What is the main purpose of the new research mentioned in paragraph 1?
A.To explore the history of caffeine consumption.
B.To identify how caffeine influences cell aging.
C.To compare human cells with fission yeast cells.
D.To find new use of caffeine in cell reproduction.
33.(2.5分)What does TOR serve as?
A.A sign of aging. B.An energy source.
C.A growth command center. D.A cellular fuel gauge.
34.(2.5分)What does John-Patrick suggest about the research?
A.Possible direction for further research. B.Benefits of present applications.
C.Characteristics of the research. D.Choice of new research methods.
35.(2.5分)What can be the best title for the text?
A.AMPK Is Conserved in Yeast and Humans for Long.
B.Your Morning Coffee May Flip a Longevity Switch.
C.The Yeast Model Unlocks Aging’s Hidden Pathways.
D.Fission Yeast Is Surprisingly Similar to Human Cells.
(本题12.5分)Spacesuits? Ready. Oxygen tanks? Ready. Water supplies? Ready. But wait, is there anything missing? Of course, food! When sending astronauts into the deep space, we must also pack their meals. However, how do they manage their diet in a zero-gravity environment? 36(2.5分)
To begin with, nutrition is always the top priority. 37(2.5分) Offering them junk food like potato chips or sweet sodas would only harm their bodies and ruin the mission.
38(2.5分) If the meals provided taste terrible or remain the same day after day, astronauts might lose their interest in food and refuse to eat. Anyone who has tried to focus on a difficult task on an empty stomach knows how hard it is. That is why space scientists try their best to make sure astronauts eat well and regularly.
Additionally, the weightless environment inside a spacecraft creates special requirements for space food. Food must be sealed tightly to prevent it from floating around. Loose liquids or small pieces of food could easily get into important instruments and cause serious damage. 39(2.5分) Imagine a sharp knife floating freely in the cabin; it could easily hurt someone.
Finally, the total weight is another key factor. Every single gram on a spacecraft must be carefully measured to save fuel during the long journey. 40(2.5分) Instead, most space food is dried and packed in lightweight bags. When it is time for dinner, astronauts simply add hot water into the bags to bring the food back to life.
Despite these strict rules, space food today is not as strange as you might think, and many dishes are quite similar to what we enjoy at home.
A.Flavor and variety cannot be ignored either.
B.It requires experts to consider several key factors.
C.This is also why dangerous items are strictly limited.
D.The solution lies in balancing nutrition and practicality.
E.Fresh food with much water is unsuitable for spacecraft.
F.It is a great challenge to make space food taste delicious.
G.Eating healthy food keeps the astronauts in good condition.

During her final weeks before setting off for university, Shreya was often advised by her mother that she should learn to do some cooking in case she missed the home-made food in her university. But Shreya thought learning to cook was not so important. Besides, she was not good at it so she was not active. But anyway, she should follow her mother, she thought.
Shreya went to the kitchen and watched her mother cooking Margherita, which was her favorite food. Her mother’s hands moved skillfully, measuring the ingredients (配料) with practiced ease. “The secret is to let the ingredients mix properly,” her mother explained.
That night, Shreya attempted for the first time. The kitchen smelled wonderful, but the taste was… off. She said sadly, “No dish I put together will taste as good as what my mother cooks.” She thought cooking was too hard for her and decided to give up, thinking that she could depend on dining in a canteen in university.
Then one day, she visited her grandmother, whose kadju curry always tasted so good. Besides, Shreya really enjoyed listening to her grandmother’s gentle words. Her grandmother insisted on teaching her, saying, “Cooking isn’t just about food; it is about valuable memories. Besides, kadju curry is much easier than your mother’s Margherita. I’m sure you can make it.” She handed her hand-written recipe book to Shreya so that Shreya could also take notes. While her grandmother worked, she wrote everything in the recipe book. She noticed the care in every step. The potatoes were cut just right, the yogurt added slowly, and the spices bloomed (绽放) in perfect harmony. “See, Shreya?” her grandmother said. “It’s not just about the recipe. It’s about the love you put into it.”

【原文】
W: Good afternoon childhood obesity has been receiving increasing attention in recent years. It’s no big secret that children like sweets, snacks and fast food. Fast food restaurants make fatty meals even more popular by including toys. However, there are healthy foods that children can enjoy just as much as other choices. Apple sticks dipped in butter are a delicious choice for midday snacks. Following the suggestions in the food pyramid is an easy way to make sure that a child has all of the nutrition he or she needs.
My second suggestion is exercise. Going for a bike ride, taking a walk around the neighborhood or running around the playground are all fun ways for children to get out and get moving. Fitness for kids is very different to fitness for adults. While adults often have a strong will to force themselves to exercise, kids usually would much rather sit in front of the television and watch their favorite cartoons. It is important to make things fun, to get a child’s attention and cultivate their interest. Finally, it is extremely important for overweight children to stick to a healthy lifestyle.
Eating healthy foods and making fitness for kids a fun experience can help get children on the right track to a healthier lifestyle.

六、书面表达
67.(本题25分)阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

【答案】范文
Armed with this wisdom, Shreya tried making kadju curry. When the curry was done, she held her breath as she tasted it. It was close to the one her grandmother made. She felt very happy. As Shreya prepared to leave for university, her mother handed her a small box. Inside was her grandmother’s handwritten recipe book, now filled with Shreya’s own notes. “Take this with you,” her mother said softly. “Whenever you miss home, you can make a little piece for yourself.”
With the recipe book in hand, Shreya boarded the plane. Week in and week out, she began to miss her grandmother’s kadju curry. So she took out the recipe book and started to cook, with care and love. She made it! She shared her food with her friends. As they tasted, their faces lit up with delight. “This tastes like home” one exclaimed. Shreya smiled, realizing the truth. Cooking was about sharing love and preserving memories. As she looked through her recipe book, she knew she was carrying the heart of her family with her.
