In primary school, I learned to write using chalks. Writing seemed to be another form of drawing. I shaped individual letters into repeating lines, which were abstract forms, delightful but meaningless patterns. In secondary school, art was my favourite subject. Since I loved it so much I thought I was good at it. For the art O-level exam I had to present an oil painting. I found it difficult, but still hoped to pass. I failed, with a low grade. I’d been over-confident. Now I’d been declared talentless. But other channels of creativity stayed open: I went on writing poems and stories. Still, I went to exhibitions often. I continued my habitual drawing, which I now characterised as childish doodling (乱画). In my 30s, I made painter friends and learned new ways of looking at art. However, I couldn’t let myself have a go at actually doing it. Though these new friends were abstract painters using oil paints, or were printmakers or sculptors, I took oil painting as the taboo (禁忌) high form I wasn’t allowed to practice. One night, in my early 40s, I dreamed that a big woman in red approached me, handed me a bag of paints, and told me to start painting. The dream felt so authoritative that it shook me. It was a form of energy, giving me back something I’d lost. Accordingly, I started by experimenting with water colours. Finally, I bought some oil paints. Although I have enjoyed breaking my decades-long taboo about working with oil paints, I have discovered I now prefer chalks and ink. I let my line drawings turn into cartoons I send to friends. It all feels free and easy. Un-anxious. This time around, I can accept my limitations but keep going. Becoming a successful painter calls for being resolute. I realised I was always afraid of wanting too much. That dream reminded me that those fears and desires could encourage me to take risks and make experiments. 24. How did the author feel about the result of the art exam? A. Scared. B. Worried. C. Discouraged. D. Wronged. 25. In her 30s, the author _________. A. avoided oil painting practice B. sought for a painting career C. fancied abstract painting D. exhibited child paintings 26. Which word would best describe the author’s dream? A. Confusing. B. Empowering. C. Disturbing. D. Entertaining. 27. What can we learn from this passage? A. Actions speak louder than words. B. Hard work is the mother of success. C. Dreams are the reflections of realities. D. Creative activities involve being confident. C 25. A 26. B 27. 根据第二段“I found it difficult, but still hoped to pass. I failed, with a low grade. I’d been over-confident. Now I’d been declared talentless.(我觉得很难,但仍希望能通过测试。我没有通过,而且成绩很低。我过于自信了。现在,我被宣布为毫无(油画)天赋的人了)”并结合下文中作者多年不碰油画的经历可推知,作者对美术考试的结果感到气馁。故选C。 【25题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“In my 30s, I made painter friends and learned new ways of looking at art.(在我30多岁时,我结交了画家朋友们,学到了看待艺术的新方法)”和“Though these new friends were abstract painters using oil paints, or were printmakers or sculptors, I took oil painting as the taboo (禁忌) high form I wasn’t allowed to practice. (虽然这些新朋友是使用油画颜料的抽象画师,或者是版画家或雕塑家,但我把油画作为禁忌的高级形式,不允许我练习)”可知,作者在30多岁时回避练习油画。故选A。 根据第四段“The dream felt so authoritative that it shook me. It was a form of energy, giving me back something I’d lost. (这个梦给我的感觉是如此的权威,它震撼了我。它是能量的一种形式,让我回我失去了的东西)”可知,作者的梦赋予作者练习油画的力量。故选B。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。根据第六段“Becoming a successful painter calls for being resolute. I realised I was always afraid of wanting too much. (成为一名成功的画家需要有决心。我意识到我总是害怕想要得太多)”及文章内容可知,本文主要讲述了作者一直喜欢绘画,但中学时由于油画测试成绩较低,作者对绘画失去了信心。在40岁出头时,一个梦让作者重拾画油画的信心并接受了自身局限性的故事。由此可推知,我们能从文章中学到创作活动需要自信,故选D。 C Breast cancer detection could get a boost from artificial intelligence. When AI helped examine breast X-rays, doctors caught one more cancer case per 1,000 tested individuals compared with traditional screening (筛查). The largest real-world study on AI’s potential for breast cancer screening, which included nearly 500,000 women in Germany, suggests that the software could simplify the screening process without affecting the rate of false alarms. Germany’s breast cancer screening program requires two radiologists (放射科医生) to independently assess each patient’s breast X-rays and look for spots, abnormal masses and other strange signs. If at least one doctor suspects cancer in the four X-ray images, a third radiologist helps determine if the individual needs more tests. “We have 3 million women participating each year in this project, and 24 million pictures have to be read every year,” radiologist Katalinic says. To see if AI could lighten the load, decision referral software was set up at 12 screening sites across the country. More than 460,000 women aged 50 to 69 took part in the study from July 2021 through late February 2023. AI marked the breast X-rays as normal, questionable or unclassified. The 119 participating radiologists chose to use an AI-supported image viewer, which revealed the software’s assessment, for roughly half of the women’s screenings. Without the application of AI, clinicians identified about 6 breast cancer cases, confirmed through biopsy (活检), per 1,000 patients during screening. Doctors found around 7 cases with the software’s help, leading to a 17.6% higher breast cancer detection rate with AI. Compared with patients who received traditional screenings, the group checked with AI’s help had slightly fewer false positives. How the AI would best fit into radiologists’ workflow remains an open question, but it could replace one of the initial readers, says Stefan Bunk, chief technology officer and co-founder of Vara, the health care technology company in Berlin that developed the AI. 28. What benefit does AI bring to breast cancer screening according to the study? A. Making screening more efficient. B. Reducing false alarms significantly. C. Bettering the clarity of X-ray images. D. Identifying more rare medical cases. 29. What can we learn about Germany’s screening program? A. It mainly targets women aged 50 to 69. B. It places a heavy workload on radiologists. C. It screens about 3 million images annually. D. It always requires a third radiologist’s opinion. 30. What can be inferred from the study on AI? A. It kept track of all participants. B. AI scarcely drew right conclusions. C. It was nearly supported by all screening sites. D. AI rarely gained a leading role in examinations. 31. Why does the author mention biopsy in paragraph 4? A. To demonstrate its safety. B. To introduce another tool. C. To emphasize AI’s accuracy. D. To show AI’s working logic. A 29. B 30. D 31. 根据第一段中“The largest real‑world study on AI’s potential for breast cancer screening, which included nearly 500,000 women in Germany, suggests that the software could simplify the screening process without affecting the rate of false alarms.(这项针对人工智能乳腺癌筛查潜力的最大规模真实世界研究,纳入了德国近50万名女性,表明该软件可以简化筛查流程,且不会影响误报率。)” 根据第二段中““We have 3 million women participating each year in this project, and 24 million pictures have to be read every year,” radiologist Katalinic says.(放射科医生卡塔利尼奇说:“每年有300万女性参与该项目,每年需要阅片2400万张。”)” 根据第五段中“How the AI would best fit into radiologists’ workflow remains an open question, but it could replace one of the initial readers, says Stefan Bunk, chief technology officer and co‑founder of Vara, the health care technology company in Berlin that developed the AI.(开发这款人工智能的柏林医疗科技公司Vara的首席技术官兼联合创始人斯特凡・邦克表示,人工智能如何最好地融入放射科医生的工作流程仍是一个悬而未决的问题,但它可以取代其中一名初筛阅片医生。)” 根据第四段中“Without the application of AI, clinicians identified about 6 breast cancer cases, confirmed through biopsy (活检), per 1,000 patients during screening. Doctors found around 7 cases with the software’s help, leading to a 17.6% higher breast cancer detection rate with AI.(不使用人工智能时,临床医生在筛查中每1000名患者大约检出6例经活检证实的乳腺癌病例。在该软件的辅助下,医生大约检出7例,人工智能助力下乳腺癌检出率提升了17.6%。)”可知,活检用来证实病例真实存在,以此凸显AI辅助筛查的准确性。 D When Brandon Contino and co-founder Dan Chi were developing Four Growers’ produce-harvesting robots, they practically lived in a greenhouse for an entire year. “We actually started just running everything off a laptop, and I would be there in the row coding. Chi would be making changes mechanically,” Contino, now CEO, told TechCrunch. The result was Four Growers, which builds robots designed to autonomously harvest plants in greenhouses. The robots are programmed to identify produce at the right level of ripeness — which varies depending on a farmer’s needs — by using multiple stereo cameras to see the crops and help operate the robot’s arms to avoid nonripe fruit on the vine. The tech currently works with tomatoes and will be commercially available to harvest other crops like cucumbers in the near future. Having enough labor to harvest crops is crucial because if crops can’t be harvested when they are ready, they rot and result in lost profits for the farm. The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture’s 2024 labor report said the industry is facing a “critical shortage” of workers, and it won’t get better anytime soon. Contino said they were intentional about focusing on greenhouse farms. Unlike outdoor farms, greenhouses can grow almost all year round, and are more efficient than outside farms. They also harvest on a much more frequent schedule than outdoor farms, which makes them a good candidate to buy tech. Four Growers now works with five customers, and its robots have picked millions of tomatoes. Contino said that the company is working to expand its technology beyond just harvesting and is looking to expand into outdoor farms in the coming years. “It’s not really a labor replacement. It’s more of an augmentation (增强),” Contino said. “As the labor force shrinks, and there are fewer people willing to do it, it’s putting them to more comfortable positions and allowing one person to be able to do a lot more.” 32. What are the cameras used to do in the greenhouse? A. Identify crops’ maturity. B. Take pictures for the ripe fruit. C. Monitor the surroundings. D. Distinguish tomatoes from other plants. 33. Why does the author mention the 2024 labor report in paragraph 3? A. To express concern about the farm profits. B. To stress the necessity of harvesting robots. C. To show the achievements of Four Growers. D. To call for public support for the farm industry. 34. According to Contino, what makes greenhouse farms a better target for Four Growers? A. A wider range of crops. B. Greener than outside farms. C. A greater number of consumers. D. Higher harvesting frequency. 35. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Autonomous Tech is Coming to Farming. B. Seed for a Farm’s Future — Farm Management. C. Four Growers Robots Help Greenhouse Harvest. D. Labor Shortages and Farmer Adaptation Strategies. A 33. B 34. D 35. 根据第二段“  The robots are programmed to identify produce at the right level of ripeness — which varies depending on a farmer’s needs — by using multiple stereo cameras to see the crops and help operate the robot’s arms to avoid nonripe fruit on the vine.(这些机器人被设定为通过多台立体相机观测作物,识别出符合农户需求的成熟度等级的农产品——不同农户对成熟度的判定标准存在差异,以此辅助操作机械臂避开藤蔓上尚未成熟的果实。)” 根据第三段“Having enough labor to harvest crops is crucial because if crops can’t be harvested when they are ready, they rot and result in lost profits for the farm. The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture’s 2024 labor report said the industry is facing a “critical shortage” of workers, and it won’t get better anytime soon.(拥有足够的劳动力来采收作物至关重要,因为如果作物在成熟时无法被及时采收,它们就会腐烂,给农场造成利润损失。美国州农业部门协会2024年的劳动力报告指出,农业正面临“严重的工人短缺”问题,且这一状况短期内不会得到改善。)”可知,作者提及美国州农业部协会的2024年的劳动力报告是为了强调当前研发采摘机器人的必要性。 【34题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“Unlike outdoor farms, greenhouses can grow almost all year round, and are more efficient than outside farms. They also harvest on a much more frequent schedule than outdoor farms, which makes them a good candidate to buy tech.(与户外农场不同,温室农场几乎全年都可以种植作物,生产效率也比户外农场更高。同时它们的采收频次远高于户外农场,这让温室农场成为采购这类农业技术的理想对象。)”可知,温室农场有更高的收获频率,这使它成为Four Growers机器人产品的市场目标。 【35题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,并结合第一段中“When Brandon Contino and co-founder Dan Chi were developing Four Growers’ produce-harvesting robots, they practically lived in a greenhouse for an entire year. When it comes to health tips, all too often we tend to merely search for good habits that stick. ____36____. Making small changes can bring big improvements in your health and wellbeing. Here are some useful tips on how to kick bad habits. ◆ Being over-ambitious about exercise We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to keep active. ____37____? If you’re struggling to meet exercise goals, or to get everything done G. However, breaking bad health habits is as important as developing good ones 【答案】36. G 37. D 38. C 39. B 40. 【36题详解】 空格前的句子“When it comes to health tips, all too often we tend to merely search for good habits that stick.(说到健康秘诀,我们往往倾向于寻找坚持下来的好习惯)”指出我们往往倾向于寻找坚持下来的好习惯,而空格后的句子“Making small changes can bring big improvements in your health and wellbeing.(一些小的改变可以给你的健康和幸福带来巨大的改善)”指出做出改变的好处,所以空格处的句子肯定提到戒掉坏习惯的好处,这样前后才能衔接起来。G项“However, breaking bad health habits is as important as developing good ones(然而,改掉坏的健康习惯和养成好习惯一样重要)”可以衔接上下文,符合题意。 D项“But do you need to go to the gym five days a week(但是你需要一周五天去健身房吗 )”在形式上和内容上都符合题意。故选D项。 【38题详解】 空格前的句子“Being on your phone when you eat means you’re not paying attention to your food or allowing yourself a break from that non-stop cyber chatter.(吃饭时玩手机意味着你没有注意到你的食物,也没有让自己从不停的网络聊天中休息一下)”指出吃饭时玩手机的弊端,而空格后的部分“focusing on enjoying what you’re eating(专注于享受你所吃的东西)”是让你专注于享受你所吃的东西,所以空格处的句子肯定是建议放下手机。C项“Put your mobile out of reach and eat mindfully(把手机放在够不着的地方,用心吃东西)”符合题意。 It might even sharpen your memory and help you live longer, according to some research. So make a few dates with friends and family instead of being alone all the while.(社交让你对生活感觉更好。根据一些研究,它甚至可能提高你的记忆力,帮助你活得更久。所以,多和朋友和家人约会,而不是一直一个人呆着)”指出参加社交的好处,所以空格处的句子一定和不愿参加社交有关。B项“Avoiding people(不愿见人)”符合题意。故选B项。 【40题详解】 根据空格后的逗号和句子可知,空格处只能填入一个非谓语形式或从句;根据该部分的主题“Being hard on yourself(对自己苛刻)”和空格后的主句“it’s time to be kind to yourself(是时候善待自己了)”可知,只有F项“If you’re struggling to meet exercise goals, or to get everything done(如果你正在努力达到锻炼目标,或者完成所有事情)”在内容上和形式上符合题意。 Camping is a rite of passage (成人仪式) if you grow up in Canada. Mary was skipping rope on the playground, surrounded by several classmates watching her. It was her best sport. The rope spun (旋转) quickly as she jumped. When time was up, the counter showed 201 skips. Smiling, Mary flashed a victory sign to the crowd. Just then, the school bell rang-class was over. Mary packed up her skipping rope. It was time to give her answer to Ms. White. That morning, Ms. White had asked her if she would be willing to take charge of the class bulletin board (板报) for the upcoming competition. The student who usually handled it, Lily, was out sick, and someone needed to step in. Mary was shocked that Ms. White had chosen her. She responded nervously, insisting that her handwriting was terrible. But Ms. White reassured her, saying she believed in her ability and encouraged her to think it over and let her know her decision after school. Now, walking toward the teachers’ office, Mary felt nervous. The thought of her messy handwriting being put up on the wall for everyone to see made her stomach turn. She had already made up her mind to say no. With that decision in mind, she quickened her pace and ran across the sports ground. Mary was about to pass the sandpit (沙坑) when someone nearby caught her attention. It was Tom from a different class. In her mind, Tom had never been good at long jump, but he was practicing it. Curious, she went over to ask what he was doing. Tom explained that no one else had signed up for the long jump event, and without a participant, their class wouldn't get any points in the school sports meeting. So when the headteacher asked if anyone would give it a try, he volunteered. Mary reminded him that he wasn't good at it, but Tom simply said that he knew that-and that it wasn't about being the best, but about trying and doing his part for the class. Then he went back to practicing. What a similar issue they both faced! Mary stood there, watching Tom practicing patiently and hard. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With determination, Mary stepped into the teachers’ office. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Mary stood there, watching Tom practicing patiently and hard. Every time he jumped, he would stumble a little, but he never stopped. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and adjusted his posture, then tried again. Mary thought about how Tom was willing to take on something he wasn’t good at just to help his class. She felt a little ashamed of herself—she was scared of showing her bad handwriting, but what if she could try her best like Tom? Maybe the bulletin board wouldn’t be perfect, but she could put her heart into it. The nervous feeling in her stomach slowly faded, and a new sense of determination took its place. She turned around and headed straight for the teachers’ office, her steps no longer hesitant. With determination, Mary stepped into the teachers’ office. Ms. White was sitting at her desk, grading papers. When she saw Mary, she looked up and smiled, “Have you made your decision?” Mary took a deep breath and nodded firmly, “Yes, Ms. White. I’d like to take charge of the class bulletin board.” She then added, “My handwriting isn’t good, but I’ll practice and do my best to make it nice. I want to help our class, just like Tom is helping his.” Ms. White’s eyes lit up with pride. She stood up and patted Mary’s shoulder, “That’s what I wanted to hear, Mary. Bravery to try is more important than being perfect. I’ll be right here to help you.” Mary left the office with a big smile on her face, already looking forward to starting her new task. 尝试:try/attempt ②.帮助:help/assist/aid ③.擅长:be good at/do well in 情绪类 ①.害怕的:scared/afraid/frightened ②.焦虑的: nervous/anxious/uneasy 【点睛】[高分句型1]. B When I was a little girl, I liked drawing, freely and joyously making marks on the walls at home. C Breast cancer detection could get a boost from artificial intelligence. D When Brandon Contino and co-founder Dan Chi were developing Four Growers’ produce-harvesting robots, they practically lived in a greenhouse for an entire year. When it comes to health tips, all too often we tend to merely search for good habits that stick. ____36____. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $第一节听下面五段录音。 Which musical style do you like?
