Lisa and Amy had been best friends since primary school. They walked to school together, ate lunch side by side and always sat in the same row in class. So when a new girl called Kate joined the class and began to sit with Amy at lunch, Lisa felt a strange pain in her heart. “Amy is my best friend,” she thought angrily. “She should stay with me.”
From then on, Lisa stopped talking to Amy. She answered Amy’s smiles with cold looks, and left the classroom whenever Kate came. Little by little, a wall grew between the two girls. Amy looked sad, but she did not know why. Lisa said nothing, and neither of them felt happy.
One Monday morning, Lisa found a small note in her pencil box. “You are still my best friend,” it read, “but Kate is my new classmate, and I want to be nice to her too.” It was Amy’s handwriting. Lisa’s eyes became wet. She understood that her own fear had made her unkind. After school she wrote back, “I am sorry. I was afraid of losing you.” Amy smiled and held her hand. Now the three girls often do their homework together, and Lisa has understood something important: a heart is big enough for more than one friend.

词句猜测题。第2段提到:“Lisa stopped talking to Amy. She answered Amy’s smiles with cold looks...Little by little, a wall grew between the two girls.”,说明Lisa不再和Amy说话,用冷淡态度对待Amy,两人都不开心,由此推断“a wall”指朋友之间冷淡的隔阂距离。

C
Everyone needs friends, but what really makes a good friend? Different people have different ideas about it, and there is no single right answer.
Some say a good friend should be loyal — someone who never says bad things about you behind your back and always keeps your trust. Others think a good friend should be patient and never get angry easily, so that you can make mistakes without fear. A humorous friend is also popular, because he or she can tell funny stories and make you laugh when you are feeling sad. A caring friend is welcome too: such a person notices your feelings and offers a kind word or a helping hand when you need it most.
In my opinion, all of these qualities are important, but none of them is enough on its own. In fact, no friend is perfect, and no one can be everything to us. The real key is to understand each other, to be honest, and to enjoy being together. When two people are willing to care for each other, the friendship will grow strong and last for a long time. Good friends truly make our life brighter and more meaningful.
23. How many ideas about good friends are mentioned in the passage?
A. Three. B. Four. C. Five.
24. What does the underlined word “loyal” mean?
A. 爱笑的 B. 忠诚的 C. 富有的
25. According to the writer, how can we keep a friendship?
A. By making our friends perfect.
B. By never saying anything.
C. By understanding each other and enjoying being together.
26. Which is the best title for the passage?
A. What Makes a Good Friend
B. How to Tell a Story
C. Life Without Friends
【答案】23. B 24. B 25. C 26. A
【解析】

【23题详解】

【24题详解】
词句猜测题。根据文章第二段loyal后面的解释“someone who never says bad things about you behind your back and always keeps your trust.”从不在背后说坏话,且总是保持信任,可以猜测loyal的意思是“忠诚的”。
【25题详解】
细节理解题。根据文章第三段“The real key is to understand each other, to be honest, and to enjoy being together.”可知,作者认为保持友谊的关键在于相互理解、诚实以及享受相处时光。
【26题详解】
最佳标题题。根据文章第一段“what really makes a good friend?”及全文内容可知,文章主要讨论好朋友的品质及友谊的真谛,“What Makes a Good Friend”符合文章主旨,是本文最佳标题。
D
阅读短文,根据短文内容完成下列各题。
Are you happy with who you are? Some people spend their whole life trying to be someone else. They copy the way others talk, dress or think, and they always feel unhappy with themselves. But the best thing you can do in life is to be the best version (版本) of yourself.
Nobody is perfect, and nobody has to be. You may not be the fastest runner on the playground or the best singer in your class, but you surely have your own talents. Maybe you have a talent for telling funny stories that make people laugh, or maybe you always know how to help a friend who feels sad. These small qualities make you special, and no one else has them in exactly the same way.
So stop comparing yourself with others, because everyone is different and everyone has their own speed. Instead, you can try new things, grow from your mistakes, and always believe in yourself. Being different is not a bad thing—it is what makes you, you. When you truly like who you are, you will shine in your own way and enjoy a much happier life.

B. A cold distance between friends.

A. A true heart is big enough for more friends.
B. Good friends should never make new friends.
C. We should keep our feelings to ourselves.
