Wolves are wild animals. They live in groups called packs. A pack is usually made up of a parent pair and their young. Wolves are famous for working together. When they hunt, they often work as a group. This makes it easier for them to catch large animals like deer.
Wolves communicate in many ways. They use body language, such as the position of their tails and ears. They also use sound. A wolf’s loud cry, called a howl, can travel far across the forest. Wolves howl to call other pack members, to mark their area, and to find each other in the dark.
Wolves usually eat meat. They hunt deer, rabbits and other small animals. In winter, food is hard to find, so a pack may travel many kilometers to look for food. Wolves are strong and can run fast, but they do not always catch their prey.
Today, wolves face serious problems. People cut down forests and build roads, so wolves lose their homes. Some people also hunt them. In some countries, people are working to protect wolves and keep them safe.

1—4:B A B C
A pack is usually made up of a parent pair and their young.
A wolf’s loud cry, called a howl, can travel far across the forest.
句中 called a howl 是对前面 a wolf’s loud cry 的解释,说明 howl 就是狼的“大声嚎叫”。
因此 A项“a loud cry(大声叫喊)”最符合语境。
In winter, food is hard to find, so a pack may travel many kilometers to look for food.
第一段:狼群居生活、合作捕猎;
第二段:狼的交流方式,如肢体语言和嚎叫;
第三段:狼的食物和冬季觅食困难;
