On April 24, 2025, at 5:17 p.m., the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center became very bright because of a big fire. The Long March 2F rocket took the Shenzhou-20 manned spacecraft into the sky. It flew fast towards the big universe. This day is very special. It’s the 10th “China Space Day” and also the 55th anniversary of the “Dongfanghong-1” satellite’s launch.
Fifty-five years ago, on April 24, 1970, China sent its first man-made satellite, “Dongfanghong-1”, into space. At that time, things were hard. But Chinese scientists didn’t give up. They worked very hard and solved many difficult problems. They wanted people to see the satellite, so they put a big “skirt” on the rocket. The “Dongfanghong-1” played the song “Dongfanghong” in space. It started China’s space journey.
55 years later, the Shenzhou-20 spacecraft flew again. There were three astronauts in this mission (任务). Chen Dong was the leader. He had been to space twice. Chen Zhongrui and Wang Jie were new astronauts. This was their first space trip.
From “Dongfanghong-1” to Shenzhou-20, China’s space science has changed a lot. Before, we just sent satellites into space. Now, we have built space stations and do scientific experiments there. The Shenzhou-20 has new technology. It can meet and join with the space station quickly. The batteries (电池) in it are better than old ones. They make the spacecraft lighter and work better.
But one thing never changes—the spirit of Chinese space scientists. They love their country and work hard. In the past, they made great things happen with few tools. Today, young scientists keep working hard too. China’s space science will go further and make more great achievements.
29. Why is April 24, 2025 special?
A. It marks two important space events. B. China starts building a space station.
C. The “Dongfanghong-1” satellite is repaired. D. It’s the first time China has sent a spacecraft.
30. What can we learn about Chen Dong?
A. He’s a new astronaut. B. He built the space station.
C. He led the Shenzhou-20 mission. D. He designed the “Dongfanghong-1” satellite.
31. How are the Shenzhou-20’s batteries different?
A. They cost more money. B. They look bigger than old ones.
C. They make the spacecraft heavier. D. They help the spacecraft work better.
32. What’s the main idea of the text?
A. The fun of space travel.
B. How to become an astronaut.
C. Why China loves space science.
D. The history and growth of China’s space science.

Is there a way to quickly recall information just before taking an exam? Walking backward might help. Scientists from a university in the UK said this activity can help improve short-term memory.
In the research, researchers asked 114 volunteers to watch a video. After watching the video, the volunteers were divided into three groups. One group was told to walk 10 meters forward. The second group walked 10 meters backward. The third group stood still. All three groups were then asked 20 questions about what they saw in the video. The scientists found that the backward-walking group got two more answers correct on average than the other two groups.
This suggests that the link between time and space is important for how our minds form memories. “Time is really expressed through space,” One researcher told the Daily Mail. When you walk backward, you see things from a different angle (角度). This difference helps people bring things to mind that happened in the past.
Walking backward could also be helpful for those who often have pain in their knees, according to another team of researchers. They found backward walking keeps our spine (脊柱) strong, which helps to reduce pain in the lower back. Besides, walking backward is also good for the rest of our body. It burns more calories than forward walking, according to New Scientist. This might be why many people like walking backward. Yet, to walk backward safely is an art to be learned.
33. What is Paragraph 1 mainly about?
A. The purpose of doing a study. B. A common problem before exams.
C. The reason for memory improvement. D. A scientific finding about walking backward.
34. Put the events about the volunteers into the correct order according to Paragraph 2.
a. They watched a video.
b. They answered questions.
c. They were divided into three groups.
d. They were ordered to walk 10m forward, walk 10m backward, or stand still.
A. acdb B. abcd C. bcda D. dbac
35. How can walking backward help people?
A. It can help people see things more clearly.
B. It may help solve health problems completely.
C. It may be the best exercise for improving memory.
D. It can reduce people’s pain in knees and the lower back.
36. What will the writer probably discuss in the next paragraph?
A. Bad influence of walking backward. B. Advice on walking backward safely.
C. History of backward walking studies. D. More ways to improve short-term memory

①In recent years, new consumption trends (消费趋势) have appeared among Chinese teenagers. These trends show their changing lifestyles and values.
②One of the most obvious trends is “rational consumption”. Unlike before, many teenagers now pay more attention to the practical value of products instead of just buying famous products. For example, when buying a pair of shoes, they will compare the quality, comfort and price carefully. They are also more willing to buy cost-effective products.
③Besides, more and more teenagers are concerned about the environment. They prefer to buy environment-friendly products. Some teenagers even start “second-hand shopping”. They buy old books, clothes and electronic products. They think this not only saves money but also reduces waste.
④“Experience consumption” is also becoming popular. Teenagers are willing to spend money on experiences rather than material products. For example, they may spend money on travelling, attending concerts, taking online courses or doing outdoor activities. A 16-year-old boy from Beijing said, “I’d rather use my pocket money to go hiking with my friends than buy a new toy. The memories of the trip are more valuable to me.”
⑤These new consumption trends show that Chinese teenagers are becoming more responsible. They are not only thinking about their own needs but also caring about the environment and society.
37. The underlined phrase “rational consumption” in Paragraph 2 means “________”.
A. focusing on the popularity of products B. trading cheap goods with others
C. raising as much money as possible D. spending wisely and avoiding waste
38. What is the benefit of “second-hand shopping” according to teenagers?
A. Getting a better user experience. B. Keeping up with fashion trends.
C. Saving money and reducing waste. D. Buying products of better quality.
39. Which of the following is an example of “experience consumption”?
A. Buying a new toy. B. Playing computer games.
C. Taking an online course. D. Buying a pair of new shoes.
40. The structure of the passage is ________.
A. ①/②③/④⑤ B. ①/②③④/⑤ C. ①②/③④/⑤ D. ①②③/④⑤

Yang Zhenning, one of the most famous physicists of the 20th century, died on October 18, 2025, in Beijing at the age of 103. Born in Hefei, Anhui Province in 1922, he grew up in a scholarly family and had a strong interest in science during his early years. He studied at the National Southwest Associated University and later went abroad for further study at the University of Chicago in the United States.
In 1957, Yang and his colleague Li Zhengdao made history by winning the Nobel Prize in Physics. They received this prize for their great work on the parity non-conservation theory (宇称不守恒理论) — a discovery that changed how scientists understood the basic laws of the universe. Beyond this, his work with Robert Mills on the Yang-Mills gauge theory (杨-米尔斯规范场论) is also considered as a cornerstone (奠基石) of modern physics, as important as Einstein’s theory of relativity (相对论).
Though he lived abroad for many years, Yang never forgot his motherland. In 1971, his first visit to China brought a wave of visits by overseas Chinese scientists, helping China’s science development. He advised the Chinese government on how to make basic science research stronger and paid for nearly 100 Chinese scholars to study in the US. After returning to work at Tsinghua University, he spent his later years training young scientists and improving the development of physics in China.
Yang’s life was a mix of his scientific curiosity and deep love for country. His famous motto (座右铭), “Be honest instead of clever”, continues to encourage young people to pursue (追求) truths in science and life.

【答案】33. D 34. A 35. D 36. B
