固定搭配see sb. doing sth.

B
①Happy birthday to the Qinghai-Xizang Railway!
②Located on the “roof of the world” (世界屋脊), the 1,956-kilometer-long railway marked its 20th anniversary this July. Travelling between the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau and other parts of China was once hard. In the 1950s, camels spent three to four months carrying goods from Qinghai to Lhasa, Xizang. Today, trains finish the trip in only 48 hours.
③The railway has greatly helped local business. Near Xining Railway Station, a caterpillar fungus (冬虫夏草) market has developed fast. In the past, traders had to drive for days to Xizang to collect herbs (中草药). Now local people can send herbs by train, and market goods can reach most parts of China within one day, Xinhua reported.
④Lhasa West Station has also changed a lot. It was once an open land with dirt roads, but now it is a modern transport center with 11 lines. It carries cars, home appliances (家电), vegetables, fruits and other goods. Local fruits from Nyingchi and Shannan are even shipped to Nepal by rail.
⑤To protect the environment, parts of the railway are built on bridges for wild animals to pass safely. The number of Tibetan antelopes (藏羚羊) has risen from 70,000 in the 1990s to over 300,000. “We often see them running beside the railway,” said Hao Baojun, a 40-year-old line worker.
⑥But the changes do not stop there. Earlier this year, China started a new power project for the railway. Once it is finished, more trains on the line will run on electricity instead of diesel (柴油).
24. How does the writer show changes in transportation in Paragraph ②?
A. By telling stories. B. By giving reasons.
C. By asking questions. D. By making a comparison (比较).
25. What do the examples in Paragraphs ③-④ show?
A. The railway makes traveling easier for tourists.
B. Local people no longer need to drive to sell goods.
C. The railway has greatly developed the local business.
D. More large markets have been built around stations.
26. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. A new project for the railway will be started.
B. The power project will be finished next year.
C. All the trains on the line will run on electricity soon.
D. The railway will be more environmentally friendly.
27. What is the best title for the passage?
A. The Roof of the World B. How to Protect Tibetan Antelopes
C. Great Changes Brought by the “Sky Railway” D. The History of the Qinghai-Xizang Railway
D 25. C 26. D 27. C
第②段最后两句“In the 1950s, camels spent three to four months carrying goods from Qinghai to Lhasa, Xizang. Today, trains finish the trip in only 48 hours.”
第⑥段最后一句“Once it is finished, more trains on the line will run on electricity instead of diesel.”
C选项“Great Changes Brought by the ‘Sky Railway’”契合文章中心。
C
Every time the boy saw a house miles away with its golden-diamond windows shining brightly, his heart beat with excitement. One day, he set off alone on a journey to find this beautiful house. His bare feet (光脚) left prints in the white dust. When he glanced back, the footprints seemed to follow and stay with him. His shadow stayed beside him too, dancing or running as he wished.
After a long walk, he reached a high green hill. There stood the house on the top, but he could not see the golden windows, for the shutters (百叶窗) were closed. He walked closer to the house and almost cried. The windows were just made of clear glass, and there was no gold anywhere around them.
A woman came to the door and greeted him warmly.
“I saw the golden windows from my hilltop,” he said, “and I came to see them, but…”
The woman smiled softly. “We’re humble farmers and we could never afford golden windows.” She invited him in, and he met her daughter, a bare-foot girl of his age with hair as golden as the windows he’d admired.
When the boy asked again about the golden windows, the girl nodded. “But you are looking in the wrong place!” she shouted. “Come on. I’ll show you the real ones.”
Hand in hand they climbed to the top of the hill behind the house. As they waited, the sun sank (下沉) low and sent long rays (光线) across the valley (山谷). Then the little girl pointed, and the boy looked. Far away on another hill stood a house with windows shining like gold and diamonds.
“Look!” cried the little girl, “There are your golden windows!”
The boy looked with his eyes wide open. The setting sun had turned the clear glass of his own windows to gold, shining brightly.
Then he thanked the woman and her daughter, and went down the hill. All the way home he felt glad, because he knew at last where the golden windows were.
— Adapted from The House with Golden Windows
28. Why did the boy start his long journey?
A. He hoped to make friends with the girl living on the hill.
B. He wanted to enjoy the beautiful sunset over the valley.
C. He planned to find a new house to live in on the hilltop.
D. He wanted to visit the house with golden-diamond windows.
29. Which sentence uses “humble” with the same meaning as the underlined word?
humble /'hʌmbl/ adj.
A. She came from a humble family but worked hard to change her life.
B. Though he is very successful, he remains humble.
C. They live in a humble small house in the countryside.
D. Be humble enough to learn from your mistakes.
30. When could people see the “golden windows” in the story?
A. On rainy evenings with thick clouds. B. On late afternoons as the sun is setting.
C. On early mornings as the sun is rising. D. On cold nights without any sunlight.
31. How did the boy’s feelings in the story change?
A. Sad → Excited → surprised → Sad B. Surprised → Excited → Sad → Glad
C. Excited → Sad → Surprised → Glad D. Glad → Worried → Excited → Relaxed
D 29. A 30. B 31. C
第一段指出:“Every time the boy saw a house miles away with its golden-diamond windows shining brightly, his heart beat with excitement. One day, he set off alone on a journey to find this beautiful house.”,说明男孩踏上旅程是为了去寻找那栋有着金钻窗户的房子。
文中humble所在原句是:“We’re humble farmers and we could never afford golden windows.”,意思是“我们是普通的农民,买不起金窗户”,这里的“humble”用于说明作为普通农民家境并不富裕,对应“(级别或地位)低下的,卑微的”。选项A“She came from a humble family”指“她出身于普通家庭”,与文中的意思一致。
倒数第四段指出:“As they waited, the sun sank low and sent long rays across the valley... the boy looked. Far away on another hill stood a house with windows shining like gold”,说明人们能在傍晚夕阳西下时看到“金窗户”。
D
①Do you think plants are boring? Think again. They cannot run or jump, but they can also do something amazing. In fact, plants are much smarter than we expect.
②Scientists have already found that plants can change as the environment changes. For example, they grow towards sunlight and give out chemicals (化学物质) to keep insects away. ▲ To find the answer, scientist Gagliano carried out two experiments.
③First, she tested a plant called mimosa (含羞草). Mimosa closes its leaves when people touch it. To know if mimosa could learn to stop closing when nothing dangerous happened, Gagliano dropped the plant many times without hurting it. At first, mimosa closed its leaves every time. After several drops, it stopped closing. Even one month later, it still did not react. This proved mimosa can learn and remember.
④Next, Gagliano did a test on pea plants. Pea plants grow towards light for food. She wanted to know if peas could connect a breeze (微风) with light.
⑤On Day 1, Gagliano only turned on a fan. The plants did not grow toward the breeze. Then she started training. From Day 2 to Day 5, she shone a light on the plants and turned on the fan from the same direction. The light and the breeze came together. On Day 6, she took away the light and only used the fan. Without any light, most pea plants still grew toward the breeze. Pea plants learned to connect the breeze with light — and light means food.
⑥“Plants really can learn from past experiences. How clever they are!” Gagliano said. She hopes her experiments can inspire more scientists to pay more attention to these little plants. After all, we should not only see the world in our own way.
32. Which sentence can be put in the ▲ ?
A. But can they learn from past experiences? B. Plants have many different kinds of skills.
C. Some plants are much stronger than others. D. Can plants change as the environment changes?
33. According to Paragraph 3, what happened to mimosa after several drops?
A. It closed its leaves every time. B. It stopped closing its leaves.
C. It was hurt because of the drops. D. It grew towards light quickly.
34. How does Gagliano carry out the pea plant experiment?
A. B.
C. D.
35. Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?
A. B.
C. D.
A 33. B 34. C 35. B
根据文章第②段“Scientists have already found that plants can change as the environment changes. For example, they grow towards sunlight and give out chemicals (化学物质) to keep insects away.” 以及后文“To find the answer, scientist Gagliano carried out two experiments.”
根据文章第③段“After several drops, it stopped closing.”

Nowadays, AI has found its way into every corner of our lives and has become a handy (便捷的) helper. How do you use it in your studies? Here are three students’ experiences.
In the past, I studied by doing lots of exercises, but I often spent time on things I already knew. Now, with AI, everything has changed. For example, when I study math, I ask AI to create a personalized (个性化的) test for me. After finishing it, I take a photo of my answers and ask AI to check them. It then points out my weak areas and gives me more exercises to practice only those topics. This saves me from doing unnecessary practice. I also learn English words by asking AI to write short stories and make quizzes to test me. AI makes learning smarter, easier and more fun, but we should still use it wisely.
—Yang Xizhe, 13, from Hangzhou
I use AI to explain difficult concepts (概念) in simple ways. I also ask AI to organize my notes and create practice exercises to review what I have learned. After correcting my mistakes, I ask AI to create similar questions to strengthen my understanding of those topics. However, I only use AI for a while each day and avoid relying (依赖) on it too much. I think independently before turning to AI for help. This makes my learning more effective.
—Sun Yilin, 13, from Beijing
I use AI to practice my spoken English. It corrects my pronunciation and grammar like a careful foreign teacher. When I make posters but suddenly run out of ideas, I also turn to AI. It offers me new ideas and teaches me how important clear thinking is. Of course, AI cannot replace human thinking. We still need to check facts, revise (修改) our work carefully and think independently. After all, AI is powerful, but with math, it still gets things wrong surprisingly often.
—Shao Jiaxi, 13, from Xi’an

Do you always try to please others even when you feel tired or unhappy? If so, you may be a people-pleaser. People-pleasers are kind and helpful, but they often put others before themselves. Over time, this can cause stress and tiredness, and even make them lose themselves. So it is necessary to stop people-pleasing others.
Some people-pleasers have started to make changes. Anna used to help others even when she felt tired, but now she says, “I’m not comfortable doing that today.” Tom no longer answers personal questions, but says, “I don’t want to talk about that right now.” By expressing their true feelings, they feel less pressure and live more easily.
What they do is called setting boundaries It means being honest and respectful about your likes and dislikes. Many studies show that clear boundaries can bring a sense of safety and make others treat you with respect.
However, some worry that setting boundaries will push friends away. To explore this idea, researchers interviewed people of different ages. Most preferred friendships where both sides clearly expressed their needs rather than one person always trying to please the other. They said this led to fewer arguments and helped them understand each other better.
Setting boundaries takes time and practice. Your body often tells you when something doesn’t feel right. When you feel uncomfortable, your heart may race and your breathing may slow down. So, the more you listen to it, the easier it is to set healthy boundaries. It is also important to leave some time for yourself. You can do what makes you calm and happy, even when life is busy. After all, only when you care for yourself well can you truly care for others.
People-pleasers are kind to others but not themselves, which may cause stress, tiredness and self-loss. So people need to set boundaries. It means being clear about ________54________. Setting boundaries helps you feel ________55________. However, some show their worries. In fact, research shows it helps friends ________56________.

You can gradually set healthy boundaries by listening to your body and making time for yourself, because ________57________.
